Chapter 142: Alpha

Ye Jun knew he would get little information from the figure. He was an assassin clearly, a trained one who perhaps belonged to an organisation.

And the first rule of being an assassin was to never meet your clients directly. There were exceptions, but assassins rarely knew about their client to keep anonymity.

If they failed in their mission, they couldn’t disclose anything about their clients if they didn’t know anything to begin with.

The contacts and everything else were handled by the organisation these assassins worked in, so the privacy was top notch. Only the top echelon knew about the clients and target.

In fact, the organisation in which Ye Jun worked made sure even the assassins didn’t know each other. That was why his Boss was such an important person.

So, if this assassin’s situation was similar, then Ye Jun didn’t hope to gain anything. Still, he knew he could find a lead through him.

The figure was surprised to hear his words and momentarily forgot about his pain. He nodded in response.

"Right," Ye Jun looked down at him and asked. "Then, which organisation do you work for?"

He removed the cotton, allowing the assassin to talk but the figure kept his silence. He just stared at Ye Jun for a full minute and Ye Jun played along.

"I can’t tell," the assassin finally said. "I’m under oath."

"Fool someone else," Ye Jun chuckled. "You’re weak for that stuff. If I have to guess, you don’t even know anything about your organization. You have an agent who works for that organisation, right?"

The figure remained silent, shocked to see how accurate Ye Jun was.

"Nice," Ye Jun smiled and placed his dagger in the figure’s mouth. "Answer me honestly, otherwise I’ll give you a big wide smile. Do you want it?"

The assassin didn’t dare to shake his head in response. He tried to say without cutting his tongue, "No."

"Good, then tell me everything about your agent," Ye Jun said. "And I want full honesty otherwise even in death I’ll haunt you."

Then, he removed the knife and backed away, even undoing the threads. The assassin stared at his lower half which was numbed completely.

He felt anger rise within him, not at Ye Jun but at his agent. If he had given him the real information on Ye Jun, he wouldn’t be in this situation.

It was as if the man had set up a trap for him.

Cursing quietly, he responded, "He’s a man named Yuan, which is likely his alias. He runs a small shop near the Winxuan Inn. You can recognise him with the mole under his right eye."

"Thanks for the help," Ye Jun smiled. "So, how do you want to die?"

The figure wasn’t surprised to hear that. As an assassin, he knew what awaited him. He knew there was nothing that could save him now, so he surrendered to his circumstances.

"Before that, I have a question," the figure asked, raising his hooded head. "Are you an assassin?"

"Bingo!" Ye Jun smiled at him. "Yes, I am. That’s why it was a foolish decision on your end to assassinate me of all people."

"As if I knew about you," the figure scoffed. "Just kill me already. Please give me a quick death, as I’ve already answered everything truthfully."

"I do want to," Ye Jun walked towards him and said. "But I’m thinking of something else. These threads, they are quite good and you used them well. How about you work for me?"

The figure’s head snapped towards him with pure disbelief showing in his eyes. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, still he answered, "Without my legs, I’m useless."

"Idiot," Ye Jun shook his head. "Your legs are intact. I just attacked the meridians, nothing else. A month of rest would put you back on your legs."

"W-What?" The figure was elated. "You aren’t joking just to kill me later, right?"

"Ah! That type of torture does exist. Give hope before killing but I’m not a sadist," Ye Jun laughed quietly. "In any case, I just think you’re more useful alive than dead. But remember one thing."

Ye Jun patted his head and said, "Betray me and even the Gods of the Underworld would refuse to take you in."

The figure shivered and lowered his head, "Greetings, Master. I hope you can guide me on this path."

Surprise flickered in Ye Jun’s eyes, as he chuckled, "You damned opportunist! You’re just hoping for me to teach you my assassin techniques, right?"

"It would be my pleasure to continue your legacy," the figure quickly said.

"You’re already doing it by being this shameless," Ye Jun shook his head and said. "What’s your name? Actually, scratch that. From now on, your name is Alpha."

"Alpha...what a strange name, but I will gladly embrace it," the figure, Alpha, bowed before him. "Alpha greets his Master."

Ye Jun hummed and took out a small bag filled with Beast Cores, "Take them and hide somewhere. I’ll contact you when necessary. For now, just focus on healing and staying hidden from that organisation."

"Understood, Master!" Alpha said.

"Well, it shouldn’t be hard," Ye Jun stretched his limbs and said. "I’ll just make it seem like I killed you, so they shouldn’t pursue it. In any case, I’ll come here again when I want you so come check here on the first day of every week."

After giving a few more instructions, Ye Jun dismissed Alpha and also gave him his threads back. Truthfully, he decided to let him go on a whim.

After all, he won’t achieve anything by killing him. Instead, he could be useful in other ways. Still, that didn’t mean he was going to let go of this matter.

"Who are you?" Ye Jun muttered, looking out at the beautiful moon. "I can’t even guess considering how many enemies I have, but it is probably from the sect."

He had made sure to hide his identity, but someone still managed to learn of it and the only ones with authority here were the White Gale Pavilion.

"Don’t let me find you, fucker."
