Picking Up Attributes In Martial World - Chapter 141: Feel Alive Again
Ye Jun could understand the Sect’s wariness towards the Lord. If they didn’t catch or find clues soon, even Heavenly Frost Palace might have to interfere.
Nobody wanted an entity like the Lord to rise. Given enough time, the whole world would suffer from it.
’What would have happened if I didn’t discover anything that day?’ Ye Jun wondered. ’Actually, why didn’t the Lord try to hide everything by just paying the tributes?’
There were many unanswered questions.
’Whatever.’
It didn’t matter to him, not now at least. He had more things to worry about aside from a dangerous entity ready to drown the world in blood. The Sects could care about that.
’Except, that fucker would surely come after me for ruining his plans.’
If it wasn’t for him, the Lord could have continued grooming his forces in secret. Now, it was all ruined as the Major Sects were aware of his motives now.
Ye Jun continued to wander around the city, looking for more information but didn’t get much aside from that. Well, there was one more piece of news that didn’t really surprise him.
There were only two Major Clans left in Bright Star City.
’I just hope they don’t leave the city,’ he thought. ’Otherwise I will have to find them. Waste of time.’
Now that he was close to the Soul Tempering Realm, his blood boiled in excitement for revenge. He had already done a lot to Ye Chen, even after he entered the Sect, but the main perpetrators still remained safe.
’Not for long.’
Satisfied, he found an inn and booked a room there. Fortunately, the inn received rogue Cultivators who wanted to hide their identity often, so they didn’t question his mask.
The only thing they checked was his Qi. No inn would dare to house a Demonic Cultivator, after all.
Once he got to his room, which was just a simple one-room place with a bed and basic necessities, he finally had the chance to clean himself. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
He didn’t even remember the days he went without bathing, so it felt good to drop himself in warm water.
’Ah! Feels good to be back.’
He felt quite hypocritical considering he hated human society, yet he always came to them. He chuckled thinking of that.
After an hour, he went down to the ground floor and ate his first proper meal in a long while. He savoured every single bite of it.
’The next time I’m on a vacation, I’ll pack lots of seasoning. Might even pack Mountain so he can cook delicious stuff.’
He actually missed the big man and his cooking. Even with simple fish, that man had cooked better food than anything Ye Jun had eaten.
What if he had better ingredients and a better situation?
’Bro might become a Divine Chef,’ Ye Jun chuckled thinking of that and continued to eat. Fortunately, he sat in a corner so nobody noticed him.
Only when it was time to pay did Ye Jun remember that he didn’t have any money on him. Worse, he had actually crushed most of his precious Beast Cores to stop the Paragons.
’Damn it! I still need that compensation!’
Fortunately, he had Beast Cores from his recent hunts. Although it was a strange way to pay, the inn accepted it. After all, Beast Cores were more valuable than normal currency, so only an idiot would reject them.
After that, Ye Jun went back to his room and slept for the rest of the day. Only when his face touched the soft pillows did he realise how exhausted he truly was, as he fell asleep instantly.
Even as the night came, he continued sleeping without a care in the world.
The moon was right above the city, spreading its cool moonlight on the world that still refused to rest. Even at night, the city was as bustling as if it were still day.
Contrary to the atmosphere outside, Ye Jun’s room was silent, tranquil, and peaceful. Just then, something shifted in the dark as the candle’s flame flickered for a moment.
A figure inched closer to the bed stealthily. Without any hesitation, it spread both of its hands as a web of thin threads materialised around the bed and contracted.
In seconds, the bed was sliced into many small pieces including the bedsheets and pillows. However, the figure didn’t feel good about it as it encountered no resistance.
It turned around to flee, but froze in place as a sharp blade manifested on his neck, warm breath behind him sending shivers down his spine.
A low, cold voice entered his ears, making him fear for his life.
"Trying to assassinate me? How foolish of you."
Ye Jun pushed the dagger a bit deeper into the figure’s neck and whispered, "Move an inch and I can promise you people won’t see any difference between your body and this bed."
He pushed the figure, as it quickly gained footing and flickered its hands. Dozens of small threads surrounded Ye Jun, moments away from slicing him into pieces.
To the figure’s shock, Ye Jun simply stretched his hand and caught the threads with his bare hand. Not a single wound appeared on his body, as if they were simple threads.
"W-What?" The figure stumbled back in pure disbelief. "Impossible! How can you..."
"Because they’re weak. You’re weak," Ye Jun shook his head and stepped forward.
The figure tried to escape using movement techniques, but Ye Jun blocked his path and wrapped the same threads around his knees before pulling.
Before the figure could scream in agony from his legs being cut off, Ye Jun stuffed cotton in his mouth and crouched down, "I don’t joke around, so take my words seriously."
The assassin was already a mess, but seeing his cold abyss-like eyes, he nodded hurriedly. What he saw was a man worse than demons. It made him curse the one who hired him.
If he had known the target was so overwhelmingly powerful and ruthless, then he would have kept his distance from this mission.
"It’s good that you understand your situation," Ye Jun said, playing with his dagger. "I’m going to ask who hired you, but let me guess, you don’t know anything about your client?"
