Pokémon Court
Chapter 892: Lineup Finalized, Tyranitar’s Second Organ
"So now it seems that perhaps Altaria, Ninetales, and Gardevoir could take the field?"
Although Ninetales and Gardevoir, by themselves, were certainly not as strong as Gallade or Mismagius, when working together in a Triple Battle they could absolutely unleash far greater combat power.
Three Pokémon—pseudo three cores!
Even among the current Elite Four, Terrance was not at the bottom.
Terrance’s talent for creating team battle systems far surpassed his talent in conventional battles.
His accumulated experience in breeding and coordination unexpectedly made it very easy for Terrance to build team-based combat systems. Sometimes he thought about how Teacher Julian always advocated the all-round development of Trainers—once one reached a certain level, it really did bring many benefits.
As for other lineup considerations...
"Besides forming a team centered around the Fairy type, weather is also one of the main tactic I’ve studied."
"Rain, Sunny Weather, Sandstorm, Snowy Weather..."
"Castform and Ninetales can create the strongest Snowy Weather. However... since it revolves only around Snowy Weather as the core, the variations are too limited, making it easy to counter. It’s also difficult to integrate other Pokémon in the team into it. While it could be tried in Triple Battles, from a long-term perspective, it’s better to forget it..."
"The same applies to Castform and Tyranitar."
"Now that Altaria and Arcanine have both mastered Sunny Weather technique, and with Flame of Life plus Arcanine’s Morning Sun, adding Castform could form a Sunny Weather tactic. But compared to a tactic centered on the Fairy type, the gap is far too large. It would be putting the cart before the horse."
The Sunny Weather tactic could be attempted in Triple Battles. Flame of Life and Morning Sun could ensure Arcanine’s unrestricted rampage.
However, it would completely push Altaria, his main combat force, into a support role...
From a cost-performance perspective, it was inferior to the combination of Altaria, Ninetales, and Gardevoir.
"Castform has mastery over all four types of weather, and it can control them perfectly. Because of its species’ special ability, it can push weather-based moves to their absolute limits. It can also integrate very well into weather created by other Pokémon and provide enhancements. Perhaps in the future, a second team battle system could be built around Castform."
Ninetales and Tyranitar, when paired with Castform, were the embryonic form of the strongest Snowy Weather and the strongest Sandstorm.
"Gallade is the second-strongest Pokémon in the team in terms of individual strength, second only to Altaria. Its fighting style isn’t affected by other tactics—its interference capability and lethality are both first-rate, catching enemies off guard. Although Gallade cannot enhance its teammates or receive their enhancements, its tactical value is still considerable."
"Mismagius is the same. Its illusion skill interference ability is even stronger... If those two are protecting the field, there’s no need to fear decapitation tactics."
After Terrance finished discussing all the Pokémon’s information with Rotom Pokédex, Rotom Pokédex gave him an interesting suggestion.
Altaria, Ninetales, Mismagius! 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"You once told me that Mismagius possesses the move Dazzling Gleam. In theory, it can also benefit from Fairy Aura’s amplification and be incorporated into the Ice Moon tactic."
"Besides that, its illusion skills have other uses beyond interference. Did you forget, Roto?"
On the optical screen projected by Rotom Pokédex, a three-dimensional holographic image kept changing, gradually becoming more refined as Rotom Pokédex carried out its calculations.
Displayed on the screen was a battle demonstration of Altaria, Ninetales, and Mismagius working together.
Altaria’s Fairy Aura covered the entire battlefield, while in the sky floated several Ice Moons and countless Ice Mirrors. Mismagius hid within the void, releasing Confuse Ray and curses that were reflected onto the Ice Moons and Ice Mirrors.
The appearance of this scene startled Terrance. He immediately clenched his right fist and slammed it hard into his left palm.
Terrance understood his own Pokémon just as well as Rotom Pokédex did. It was simply that his personal energy was limited, and in a short time he couldn’t carry out such comprehensive thinking. Now that Rotom Pokédex had proposed an idea and provided a starting point, Terrance immediately grasped it and said in surprise:
"So that’s it. Mismagius’s tactical value lies in the multiple applications of its illusion skills. With its illusion skills, it can greatly ensure that Ice Moon and Ice Mirror aren’t easily destroyed by the opponent, creating countless illusions of Ice Moon and Ice Mirror. Besides that, Ninetales’s Ice Mirror can act as a barrier, reflecting Mismagius’s Confuse Ray and Echoed Voice incantations to set up an Illusionary Space across the battlefield. Furthermore, Mismagius can even use Hypnosis in reverse on Altaria and Ninetales, allowing them to continue fighting through sleep using Sleep Talk. With this technique combined with my Fairy Mark, it can be made completely foolproof. On top of that, Mismagius now knows Destiny Bond, so in the worst case scenario it could still trade one for one. In that case, if Mismagius replaces Gardevoir’s position, it truly becomes an even more perfect pseudo–three-core tactic, where every Pokémon serves as the core of an extremely important tactic."
Terrance thought of more than Rotom Pokédex did. Everything Rotom Pokédex had considered, he understood immediately, and he even came up with additional coordination methods that Rotom Pokédex hadn’t thought of.
This was an even stronger pseudo three-core tactic. As long as nothing happened to Altaria, this combination would rank among the very top even among true three-core tactics.
The reason for adding the word "pseudo" was because the most important principle between core tactics was that they should not affect or interfere with one another. Only in that way could tactical stability be ensured. With that premise guaranteed, even if one tactic was neutralized, the others could still function normally.
For example, sandstorm and rain were completely incompatible tactics. A combination of sandstorm and rain could not be considered a dual-core team battle system.
The three tactics Terrance had created were integrated with one another, but they ran into another taboo. If Ninetales’s Ice Moon wanted to absorb Fairy-type beams from different Pokémon, it could not do so without the conversion provided by Fairy Aura. Therefore, they could not truly be said to be completely independent. If Fairy Aura were to be neutralized, the Ice Moon tactic would lose its value. Of course, judging from Altaria’s strength, breaking its Fairy Aura would be extremely difficult.
"I suggest using these two days to practice their coordination. If it succeeds, Mismagius could even serve as the fifth or sixth core of the fairy army in the future, Roto."
"Indeed. With Mismagius’s control ability, once properly coordinated—and with Gardevoir’s Telepathy and my Fairy Mark—its illusion skills will hardly cause any negative effects on our own side. Come help, Rotom Pokédex."
After finishing their discussion, Terrance and Rotom Pokédex did not rest for the next two days.
This was not only for the upcoming Triple Battle—the research on core tactics was also a very important step for improving Terrance’s future team battle system.
In addition, Terrance had not forgotten Tyranitar. It had only just evolved and its body was still unstable. Together with Nurse Joy of Fallarbor Town and Rotom Pokédex, Terrance conducted a more detailed and comprehensive examination of it.
"A new organ has formed inside its body. It was very small before, but now it has grown larger?"
Holding the medical report from Fallarbor Town’s Nurse Joy regarding Tyranitar’s examination, Terrance frowned.
"Yes, Mr. Terrance. However, at the moment this new organ has not produced any malignant effects, but we cannot rule out the possibility of deterioration in the future," Nurse Joy said worriedly. "In addition, beside that organ there is another organ that Tyranitar should not possess. Since we do not yet understand their effects, I do not recommend performing surgery to remove them rashly."
"Nurse Joy, you don’t need to worry." Terrance smiled slightly, picking up the internal scan images of Tyranitar and falling into thought. These images were even clearer than the ones scanned by Gardevoir’s Confusion, produced using extremely advanced technological methods. When he saw the two organs, Terrance’s expression turned serious.
The two pebble-like organs were currently located in Tyranitar’s abdomen, one on the left and one on the right. One of them was naturally the organ formed through the Float Stone breeding method, used to control body weight. As for the newly formed organ, it was likely created after Tyranitar swallowed the "Adamite."
The Float Stone organ was not dangerous; this Terrance could guarantee. However, the second organ left him extremely conflicted.
"Before this organ formed, Tyranitar showed no abnormalities after swallowing Adamite. But now it may be time for Tyranitar to sense it again, to control this organ the same way it controls the Float Stone organ!"
This was an attempt with completely unknown feasibility, but Terrance had to cooperate with Tyranitar to try it. The hidden risk of swallowing Adamite had to be eliminated.
"Thank you, Nurse Joy," Terrance said while continuing to think, expressing his gratitude. Under her gentle smile, Terrance took Tyranitar’s Poké Ball and left the Pokémon Center.
