Pokémon Court
Chapter 894: Magnetic Sand Tactic
The Battle Pyramid still remained in the desert.
Besides making it convenient for Terrance to come here, Mr. Brandon clearly had not given up on Mirage Tower.
When Terrance returned here, Mr. Brandon introduced the middle-aged man beside him.
"This is Mr. Tucker."
The kind-faced, pot-bellied man immediately smiled and extended his hand when he saw Terrance.
"Master Terrance, I’ve long heard of you. I’m the Hoenn League’s chief officer in charge of the Danger Zones."
"Hello, Mr. Tucker." Terrance also extended his hand and shook his.
"This time, I’ll be responsible for overseeing the battle between Mr. Brandon and you," Tucker said.
"Thank you for your trouble," Terrance replied.
Originally, someone of Tucker’s rank wouldn’t need to come personally for this matter. However, Terrance’s identity was special, which drew the League’s attention. They wanted to gauge Terrance’s true ability through this Triple Battle.
Meanwhile, after withdrawing his hand, Tucker followed Mr. Brandon and Terrance into the Battle Pyramid. As they walked, he couldn’t help but glance at Terrance a few more times.
A Trainer supported by the Pokémon Contest faction and a rising star of the Champion League, yet he already wanted to challenge the Danger Zones designated by the League as forbidden areas. Wasn’t that a bit too arrogant?
"The Super-ancient Pyramid is a training ground for the Elite Four. Even they must proceed with extreme caution when entering. Can this Terrance pass Mr. Brandon’s test?" Tucker shook his head inwardly.
A Triple Battle, combined with a real combat evaluation—ordinary Champion League contestants would find it hard to handle these factors together. This battle format wasn’t easy to master for Trainers who had only experienced standard battles. Just the requirement of splitting one’s attention into three was enough to defeat 99.9% of people.
As the Hoenn League’s chief officer in charge of the Danger Zones, Tucker had even given lectures to newly appointed Elite Four members. He had his own set of standards for evaluating Trainers.
And Tucker’s evaluation standard was the same one used by Elite Four Agatha: team coordination.
Many Top Trainers focus too much on pursuing the individual strength of their Pokémon and neglect this point, but the truth is that coordinated team battles can have enormous impact.
"Mr. Brandon, Master Terrance, Mr. Tucker."
At this moment, the four adventurers who had long been looking forward to this battle were already waiting outside the battlefield. When they saw Terrance and the others finally arrive, smiles immediately appeared on their faces.
Without wasting much time, everyone walked straight into the battle arena. Tucker glanced at both sides who had already moved to opposite ends of the field, feeling somewhat surprised.
From beginning to end, Mr. Brandon had barely spoken. Although that matched his personality, it was still a bit unusual. "In past evaluation battles, Mr. Brandon would give challengers some advice, but this time he hasn’t said much at all..."
Aside from the ever-thinking Mr. Tucker, the rookie adventurers didn’t think so much. Right now, they simply wanted to watch an exhilarating battle and witness the heroic bearing of their idol, Mr. Brandon.
"Mr. Brandon, Master Terrance, you’re both ready, right? Then the battle will begin."
Unable to figure out the reason, Tucker stopped dwelling on it and immediately made the announcement.
Brandon and Terrance exchanged a glance, then both threw out their Poké Balls.
"Go—Altaria, Ninetales, Mismagius!"
"Go—Registeel, Magnezone, Probopass!"
As the Pyramid King, Mr. Brandon was rumored to have captured at least three Legendary Pokémon, and some even claimed he had captured six. Besides the Regi Trio, there were also Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos. For this battle, Terrance had expected to face at least two Legendaries, but he soon realized he had overestimated things.
"Registeel, Magnezone, Probopass!"
Seeing these three Pokémon, Tucker’s eyes immediately lit up.
Registeel was similar to Regirock; it could restore stamina and heal injuries by consuming metal. With that in mind, the reason Mr. Brandon sent out Magnezone and Probopass was immediately obvious.
Both of those Pokémon could easily create metallic substances.
"Using Registeel as the core?" Seeing Mr. Brandon’s lineup, Terrance quickly calmed himself. Although it was somewhat different from what he had imagined, it seemed no less troublesome.
As soon as the battle began, two kinds of weather rapidly formed.
On Terrance’s side, the Snowy Weather triggered by Ninetales began spreading quickly. On Mr. Brandon’s side, two Pokémon simultaneously used Sandstorm. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
What surprised Terrance was that within the sandstorm created by Registeel and Probopass, countless electric currents were spreading through it. Everyone realized that the storm contained innumerable metallic particles. Combined with electromagnetic power, the sandstorm instantly became far more violent.
Terrance had long anticipated that the opponent would use a weather-based tactic as a core strategy, with Sandstorm being the most likely. Snow had a natural advantage against sandstorms, so Terrance hadn’t been overly concerned. But seeing this development now, his expression turned serious.
Magnetism combined with sandstorm—there was even such a technique?
"As expected, Mr. Brandon’s strength is really formidable. This combination of electricity and rock is truly astonishing," Tucker, who was also serving as referee, thought in amazement. In his mind, Brandon was definitely among the strongest Trainers, not inferior even to the current Elite Four of the Hoenn League.
Two Pokémon generated the sandstorm, and then all three Pokémon jointly used electromagnetic power to reinforce it. The enhanced sandstorm immediately overwhelmed the Snowy Weather and broke Ninetales’ control of the weather.
"Unless Castform and Ninetales work together, it’ll be difficult for Ninetales alone to break this sandstorm. Fortunately, Snowy Weather isn’t the core of this strategy, otherwise we’d already be halfway to losing," Terrance calmed himself. From the very beginning, the battle had become extremely intense. The clash between Snowy Weather and Sandstorm—especially the moment the ice and snow were swallowed—instantly ignited the atmosphere, making the four adventurers watching inhale sharply.
It was simply because the combination of magnetism and sandstorm was too cool. A sandstorm flashing endlessly with lightning—when had they ever seen something like that?
However, in the face of this overwhelming sandstorm, Terrance showed no sign of fear. Altaria suddenly leapt forward and underwent Mega Evolution. Countless cotton-like feathers scattered across the battlefield with the light of evolution, greatly obstructing the movement of the flying sand and grit.
The cotton was incomparably soft and impossible to pierce through. Even though Brandon’s magnetic sand possessed great penetrating power, it was still helpless against the combo move of Cotton Guard and Feather Dance’s absolute defense.
Self–Mega Evolution, Cotton Feather Dance—Brandon, who had originally held the advantage, suddenly narrowed his eyes, somewhat surprised by Altaria’s transformation.
"Mega Evolution..." At the same time, Mr. Tucker also showed a look of interest.
