Pokémon Court
Chapter 896: Astonishing Team Battle System
No one could have imagined the power of Destruction Light—neither Brandon nor Tucker. When Magnezone was swallowed by it, a massive flaw instantly appeared in Brandon’s team formation. Altaria seized the moment to launch a direct assault, taking on two opponents alone. With the Flame of Life condensing in its claws, every part of its body became a weapon.
Carrying the immensely destructive Flame of Life, Altaria pressed forward against the combined pressure of the two Pokémon and unleashed its attack.
"Mr. Brandon is being suppressed!" the four adventurers exclaimed.
"If I’m not mistaken, this Terrance has built a dual-core system, and both cores revolve around ’destructive power.’ This is undoubtedly one of the most violent team battle concepts," Tucker said. As an expert in team battle theory, he immediately saw through it after watching Terrance and Brandon clash.
Mr. Brandon’s three Pokémon formed an extremely reinforced pseudo three-core system. When fully unleashed, its explosive power was no less than that of a true three-core system. Yet even so, it was still crushed by Terrance’s dual-core system. It had to be said—this battle was incredibly spectacular.
The core tactic of Brandon’s three Pokémon was the Sandstorm. Enhanced by magnetism, the sandstorm could unleash tremendous destructive power and further amplify all three Pokémon under the sandstorm weather. In addition, both Probopass and Magnezone could continuously supply Registeel with stamina, making it nearly unbeatable. Furthermore, the three Pokémon could share targeting through special electromagnetic waves, allowing them to unleash attacks that are 100% accurate and impossible to dodge.
With these three tactics combined, the combat power these Pokémon could unleash was already immense, but Terrance was simply too monstrous.
Mega Altaria’s individual strength was overwhelming, breaking apart the magnetic sand core. Brandon had intended to lock onto Ninetales with three Zap Cannons, but he underestimated Terrance’s tactical core and was unable to withstand Destruction Light, resulting in Magnezone being instantly defeated.
Meanwhile, Terrance had only displayed two cores from beginning to end: Fairy Aura and Ice Moon.
Interestingly, both of these tactical cores enhanced the power of the moves—they were essentially the strongest spear, which is why they erupted out with such an unstoppable offensive.
In this battle, Mismagius’s illusion skills hadn’t even had the chance to play a major role before the opponent was suppressed by the dual-core system of Fairy Aura and Ice Moon. It had to be said that the dual-core team battle system Terrance created—combining aura and Ice Moon—was incredibly powerful in terms of offensive power. The two complemented each other perfectly and were nearly impossible to withstand head-on.
"Mr. Brandon is in danger."
The four adventurers revealed looks of disbelief. Aside from being relentlessly attacked by Altaria’s Flame of Life-infused Play Rough, Mismagius reappeared at this moment, using its illusion skill to interfere with Registeel and Probopass, forcing them to divert attention and use Thunder Wave to resist Hypnosis.
But this only created an even better opportunity for Altaria to attack. Mismagius’s support was difficult to see—what the others saw was simply Altaria taking on two opponents alone and overwhelming them! Mr. Brandon, however, was not calm at all, because there was still one Ninetales that had yet to act.
At this moment, Ninetales, completely unpressured, had already formed the most perfect Ice Moon and suspended it in the air. As Altaria surged forward, sweeping out a wave of Flame of Life like a crashing tide, both Mismagius and Altaria retreated simultaneously.
After barely withstanding the terrifying flames, Mr. Brandon spoke:
"Probopass, use Magnet Bomb! Then all of you, lock onto Ice Moon with Flash Cannon!"
As Altaria and Mismagius pulled back, a grave expression appeared on Brandon’s face. He had already realized that Terrance was about to use that technique again for a powerful assault. The power of Destruction Light— even with a type advantage, the two Pokémon would find it difficult to endure.
Very quickly, Probopass created countless Magnet Bombs. However, anyone could see that these Magnet Bombs were only half-finished; they weren’t used for attacking but were instead scattered around Registeel.
Two against three. Although he had lost a main Pokemon due to a misjudgment, Brandon had no intention of giving up and chose to fight to the end. In the next moment, Ice Moon radiated light, gathering into a beam of Destruction Light that came crashing down!
Faced with this world-ending strike, Registeel and Probopass resisted with all their strength. Flash Cannons swept across, but the power of Destruction Light was overwhelming. Even two Flash Cannons could only weaken part of its force. As Destruction Light descended and devoured everything, Altaria, Ninetales, and Mismagius launched a combined assault!
The three Pokémon advanced together, unleashing countless attacks. Under the relentless barrage, Probopass collapsed, unable to hold on any longer, but before falling, it had produced enough metal. Registeel absorbed the remaining metal to restore its stamina, stood back up on the field, and glared at the three opposing Pokémon, letting out an unwilling roar.
Although Magnezone and Probopass had paid a tremendous price to allow it to stand until the end, its chances of victory were now nearly zero...
"This result is truly shocking. It seems we must reassess Terrance’s strength. He has never shown such astonishing team battle talent before. This is even more valuable than his performance in standard battles!" Tucker’s thoughts churned. From initially doubting Terrance, he was now completely stunned by the power Terrance had displayed.
Even though this was only a test battle, it was enough to reveal Terrance’s strength.
There was no surprise in the final outcome. A lone Registeel, let alone facing three Pokémon, couldn’t even handle Altaria by itself. Soon, Brandon was defeated.
"Not bad. With your performance, you can move freely within the Super-ancient Pyramid. As expected of a Contest Master."
Mr. Brandon recalled his Pokémon and began to applaud. Both sides had used team battle systems, but the one Terrance created had far greater practical value than his own. This was because even when taken individually, Terrance’s tactical cores existed on a completely different level.
For example, the magnetic sand system Brandon had built was far stronger than an ordinary sandstorm, even Terrance’s airflow-based sandstorm system might not compare.
However, the opponent’s locking tactics and recovery tactics were of limited value. Compared to Fairy Aura and Ice Moon, the strongest spear, it’s understandable that they were helplessly crushed. It had to be said that the team Terrance brought out possessed combat power far exceeding the combined lineup of Registeel, Probopass, and Magnezone.
"Mr. Brandon, you flatter me," Terrance said with a slight smile, showing no arrogance. Brandon’s lineup had been a test formation, so it was inevitable that he hadn’t gone all out. After all, this was a man rumored to possess six Legendary Pokémon. Even in a Triple Battle, he might still be able to take out an even more perfect lineup.
"No, that attack of yours that combined the power of three Pokémon is the most astonishing team battle system I’ve ever seen. This method alone, if it were to gather the collective power of ten, a hundred, or a thousand Pokémon, would possess a value that simple team battle theories cannot possibly encompass." Brandon’s keen eyes immediately recognized the value of the Fairy Aura.
And that was indeed the case. Fairy Aura was, after all, the greatest foundation of Xerneas—the Kalos deity and embodiment of life. Not to mention ordinary sandstorms, even the magnetic sand system couldn’t compare. Moreover, Altaria had not yet fully developed Fairy Aura to perfection, still far from the level of Xerneas itself.
