Chapter 186: Field Arrangement
Liling and Han’er were quickly done with the contract, as the content was really sparse. They understood that Fengyu only added the contract as a proof of this act of renting, not to restrict them really.
He would also go back later to register with the city, upon which they could have the clerk there act as a notary for this document. From then on, the renting relationship will have been fully established.
It wasn’t really extra work, so Fengyu didn’t mind doing this. The two also didn’t mind it and signed it right away.
After signing, both took out their jade coins. Fengyu quickly wrote a bill on a piece of paper and handed it over after getting the joins. The clerks in the city would always register every payment on their jade tablets, but a private exchange was usually completed by trust and word.
It’s just that Fengyu felt that with a court in the city, it would be better to have clean records in case anything ever happened.
"Didn’t you say that you wanted to have Zimu check on Han’er before signing anything?" Liling asked with a chuckle.
"Oh, Zimu has already checked you. The whole field is Zimu’s domain, when you entered, he already felt your presence and conveyed to me the message that Han’er has a peaceful mind and heart, like a ten thousand year old frozen mountain." Fengyu chuckled.
"Hmm? Domain?" Liling asked in surprise.
Han’er, on the other hand, felt deep shock. She had been in a person’s territory, inspected and analysed, without ever even feeling something?
She looked around to no avail.
"Zimu is currenlty in seclusion, refining his Peace Cult..." Fengyu said wryly.
"Cult?"
"Ah, let’s not talk about this. Anyways, he’s in seclusion, but as long as someone enters his domain, he will be able to sense it and will convey the information to me." Fengyu waved his hand, unwilling to describe it deeper.
Seeing that they didn’t push it, he returned to the rent, "Formally you two are renting acres, but I recommend that we all focus our efforts on three acres. That is to say, one acre will be this one where I reside with all my ducks, and possibly where the two cultivators Shuan and Wei will go into seclusion once they’ve completed their preparations and rented fields here.
The other field will be Ming and Ling’s, as they will focus all their spiritual planting into that field.
Lastly, the third field will also be the field where we will open the formation to fight the beasts. I hope that fellow daoists Han Liling can reside there. In addition, my friend Shanqing and another person will also reside in that field. I will also send three ducks at the late stage, all of which have good fighting prowess, to help you in protecting that field."
Fengyu explained his plan for the defense.
By opening the formation in a corner and directing the beasts, they can create a battlefield instead of having to defend fully at three battlefields, which would be too difficult. Han’er is a battle master, Liling is a refiner with many weapons while Shanqing has a strong foundation and background, also having a good fighting prowess. The person he brings will likely also have a good fighting prowess.
In that way, they should have at least four strong cultivators.
As for the distribution being unfair because Fengyu and the twins didn’t have to fight? What a joke. Why did he open his field if it wasn’t to get fighters? If he was going to work on his own, he might as well have kept the field close.
Although he would still fight and protect his field, he wouldn’t stay right in the battlefield.
Liling and Han’er looked at each other, then nodded.
Fengyu smiled brightly and explained, "As I said previously, I’m also a doctor. So if you get hurt, don’t worry, I’ll heal you right away. I am specialised in treating outer wounds, specifically blade and claw wounds. Besides that, I am also good at treating large and long lasting wounds, so you don’t have to worry about those wounds either."
"Oh?" Han’er asked in surprise.
"Fellow daoist, I have something..." she said.
Fengyu nodded when he heard this, "I have already seen it. Fellow daoist, as many ice cultivators, the ice in your body has affected you somewhat. But, you should be practicing a transcendent art. So any harm you gain is not necessarily bad. If you wish, I can strengthen your vitality a bit, so that the process hastens up with a slight adjustment of the cultivation art. As for lowering the pain, that would work against your cultivation, so I won’t do it." Fengyu didn’t say that he couldn’t do the last part anyways.
It wasn’t his fault... or maybe he just didn’t care. Anyways, everyone’s a cultivator, why would you need anesthesia?
"Thank you fellow daoist!" Han’er cupped her hands in thanks, breathing a sigh of relief.
Lately she had felt a rising icy pain on her body, so she wanted to ask a doctor. Because of the Beast Tide, she hadn’t yet have a chance to do so.
And, for a Battle Master, having a doctor at hand would be extremely gratifying. She could fight without caring too much about the consequences.
"Then," Fengyu stood up and walked out, meeting Ling outside.
"Ling’er, this is Han’er and Liling. They are renting the third facre from now on."
Ling cupped her hands in greetings then looked at Fengyu, "Senior brother, we have completed the preparation for the, and we’ve also reduced the formation’s range to only include that acre. Is it really okay if we leave the other acres out?"
"It’s fine. Beasts might not care about karma, but they care about Nature’s Wrath, so they won’t directly attack the veins. They’ll at most devastate the farmfields."
Ling nodded, then walked behind Fengyu with Ming, following him and observing his actions to learn.
Fengyu walked along the road Soft Breeze had constructed in his free time, walking towards the field to the left.
His field was in the centre, the twins was to the right, and the battlefield would be left of his. In an emergency situation they could abandon the east and evacuate the west to protect the centre.
