’F*CKKKKKKK!’

’Cyber Gladiators are the ultimate combat class my foot!’ Leon growled in panic but his rage and panic couldn’t stop what was coming.

What was coming was conceptual, it was inevitable.

BZZZZZZZT!

The density of the assassin’s ADE rose to C Rank, meaning conceptually, Leon was no longer facing a D Rank Quantum Shaper but a C Rank!

The assassin obviously wasn’t a C Rank Ascended yet meaning he didn’t have access to C Rank abilities, but with his ADE at C Rank, every attack from him now would hit at the level of C Ranks!

To Leon who was already struggling to survive since, this was a disaster, but he couldn’t stop it.

It came like a storm, unstoppable and irrepressible.

BOOM... BOOM... BOOM!

Leon was swept away by the storm.

...

BAM!

A burning blade of superheated ionized gas cut Leon’s right leg clean off from the knee, making him groan and snarl in agony.

"Ugh...!" He groaned in pain, trying to keep himself together.

DING!

~----~

[CRITICAL HIT!]

[WARNING! Your HP is depleting more than Regeneration...!]

~----~

Leon limped on one leg even as under the influence of Undying Roach, the stump on his knee squirmed as a new leg started growing out.

But the assault didn’t stop, it never stopped.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

He was drowning in a tirade of attacks.

...

BZZZZZT!

A concentrated burst of gamma rays slammed into Leon’s torso, burning a physical hole through his chest even as he suffered from Liver and Kidney failure simultaneously, restricting his oxygen flow.

Leon started suffocating!

And yet, in the background, Undying Roach was at work repairing the damage but even it was not omnipotent anymore.

The attacks came from everywhere and they were unceasing, and finally they were threatening to overwhelm his Cockroach DNA Racial Trait.

"Arghhh...!" Leon groaned and gasped for air, briefly collapsing on his knees before forcing himself back up through sheer willpower again to continue fighting.

Even as he was regenerating all the damage, the pain lingered and stacking it up for minutes felt like throwing him in a pit of snakes. He was drowning in the torrent of unending pain.

Leon felt like he was in Hell.

He was in agony, bleeding non-stop, suffering so much pain that would have made a lesser man insane already.

And yet, he grit his teeth through all the mind-numbing pain, snarling like a monster and retaliating, surviving through it all.

But the more notifications came from the ChronoSystem, the more Leon realized that even Undying Roach could not cut it anymore.

DING!

DING!

DING!

[CRITICAL HIT!]

[CRITICAL HIT!]

[CRITICAL HIT!]

[...!]

[...!]

KABOOM!

This time, Leon was hit with so much force that he finally smashed through the seemingly inviolable walls of the restaurant, falling outside.

Just like he expected, outside was blurry and undefined.

Even the sky was blurry like a shattered mirror.

He couldn’t pay attention to any of this though as he collapsed to the ground. His back was bruised, he was suffering multiple fractures and organ failure that were struggling to regenerate but he didn’t dare stay down to catch his breath because he knew that he was coming.

He never stopped coming.

He quickly staggered to his feet just in time for another blade of superheated ionized gas cut the air towards him like an executioner’s blade!

The timeframe was too short, he couldn’t dodge.

With a grimace, instead of letting the blade of superheated ionized gas to cut his chest unchallenged Leon raised his hands to catch the blade but this time, it cut his fingers cleanly through!

"Garhhhh...!" He growled in pain like a wounded beast as tears mixed with blood flowed freely down his eyes.

Leon was scarred. And even as his fingers started regenerating, he still felt a mind-numbing pain that briefly made his brain freeze.

His eyes were red, his body was drenched in blood, his clothes were torn and tattered.

At this moment, he looked no different from a feral monster.

But despite his seemingly hopeless situation where Undying Roach was the only reason why he was still alive, even through the pain his brain kept on thinking feverishly, trying to come up with a way to survive.

Even after going through all this pain that would have sent a lesser man mad and wishing to die to escape the suffering, Leon was still thinking as his brain whirred like a supercomputer.

He was still trying to survive.

And somehow, after losing his fingers, something seemed to click in his head as with the shadow of death looming so close again, instead of succumbing and surrendering to his panic Leon entered a strange state of clarity instead.

In his perception, time seemed to slow down and even the approaching Fluxmancer seemed to slow down with it.

And finally, his thoughts got to flow for a brief moment like clean water through a tiny brook.

And in that tiny moment of clarity, countless questions clashed in his mind like energetic gas particles in an enclosed space.

’How can he have C Rank ADE density?’

’How did he do it?’

His eyes narrowed. ’To know this, I need to think back... how was this dream created?’

’I don’t know...’

Leon didn’t give up. ’How exactly did I know that I was dreaming?’

’How did I regain my ADE?’

’Why did I not regain access to my Class abilities the first time after regaining access to my ADE? What’s the difference?’

’In the beginning, he carried no weapon, but a dagger materialized in his hand out of nowhere... how???’

’Where did it come from?’

’Now the dagger is nowhere to be found... how?’

’Where is it?’

’Did it just disappear into thin air? Does that mean it’s not something that he carried here with him,’ he paused. ’But something he imagined?’

Leon’s eyes widened. ’Imagination!’

’That’s the key!’

Since he didn’t pay particular attention to any specific Class and Class Specialization when Ren Nora told him the abilities of all the Classes, Leon didn’t know that Quantum Assassin is actually a form of energy manipulation.

But now, as his thoughts flowed swiftly in a feverish manner, the possibility finally started ringing in his head.

The clues were right here in front of him since: first was the assassin’s dagger itself that materialized out of nowhere, second is this restaurant itself and the inconsistencies and irregularities compared to his previous dreamscapes, and third was how the assassin managed to raise his ADE to C Rank density.

In reality, these were all impossible situations that would never happen, and that is the thing. For some reason, Leon failed to factor it in that this was a dream.

And if there was something that he knew about dreams, it’s that dreams are malleable and open to change. They don’t follow common sense.

Leon’s eyes widened even further. ’If he can create change here, can I create change too?’

Common sense said no, afterall the assassin was the Quantum Shaper, not him. But in his case, common sense’s application became nuanced because he was not a regular Mechanist either.

He was a Mechanist now using the character summon cards of a Quantum Shaper, something that no other Ascended in the world had and could do.

A card that gave him temporary access to the powers of Quantum Shapers!

So surely, if a Quantum Shaper can make changes in this dream, he could do it too right?

It was a crazy idea but Leon felt that it was possible. Even if it was not, his desperation meant that he wanted it to be possible by all means!

Besides, he realized something else. ’This is my dream’.

He was the one who was asleep, and the Quantum Shaper infiltrated his sleep, creating a dreamscape out of his sleep and his mind.

The reason why Leon was sure of this was this restaurant.

He was 100% sure that there is no restaurant like this in the current era. This is a restaurant from an era far before Genesis, an era that’s hidden in the depths of his fragmented mind and memories.

So if this is his dream, then surely this is also his jurisdiction right?

Even if he was not supposed to have control over this jurisdiction, with 4 layers of Quantum Touch stacked, surely, he now had the leverage to exercise authority over his jurisdiction, his dream.

Leon didn’t just think it, he executed it.

Just as the assassin was charging towards him again, ready to deal him another debilitating blow, Leon exerted his will and authority over the world of his dream and made a wish.

For a brief moment, silence reigned over the dream world as time and space seemed to freeze.

And then the wish came through.

BZZZZZZT!
