The assassin couldn’t wrap his head around exactly what happened, he simply couldn’t understand what was happening.

’How is he doing this?’

His eyes narrowed into slits behind his ghost face mask. ’He’s clearly not a Quantum Shaper, and he’s not using an artifact either, so how???’

As the once easy assassination became an intense battle at the heart of the dreamscape that he created, this assassin felt uneasy. He felt like he was going crazy as he experienced things that he had never experienced in all his years of being an assassin.

Ghostface was labeled an S-tier Assassin by the Omnicore Federation for a reason, and the reason is because among the hundreds of successful assassins that they’ve secretly trained, he was one of those few with a 100% kill rate. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

He is by far the most successful Quantum Shaper that have ever been groomed by the scientists of the Omnicore Federation.

If Ghostface was sent after a target, then that target was already considered dead. And this is because of his Quantum Assassin ability.

Unless you are prepared for it and created countermeasures ahead of time, it is simply impossible to survive the assault of a D Rank Fluxmancer after you’ve been pulled into the dreamscape.

Afterall, most targets don’t even realize that they’re dreaming till they die. That is how insidious the Quantum Shaper Class Specialization was.

And yet, not only did this target realize that he is dreaming, somehow he also managed to find a way to resist within the dream, a situation that this assassin had never faced before in his decades of service to the Omnicore Federation, something that should have been impossible.

Leon couldn’t call on his constructs yet because they were not here with him in the dreamscape, but with Undying Roach active, he simply threw himself at the Fluxmancer without any fear of death.

He turned his fists into weapons like a Cyber Gladiator, fighting in a reckless and unhinged manner that this assassin had only ever seen in Gene Augurs.

’Who is he?’ The assassin thought, shaken.

’What exactly is he?!’

As the battle raged within the heart of the dreamscape as Leon went all out, going all out and putting his body on the line just to damage his enemy, he didn’t have the luxury of thinking like his opponent.

Just to survive, he was giving his all, pushing his body and his battle instincts to the very limits conceivable.

But even in this state, he still realized certain things.

Afterall, like they say, most times it’s the losses that teaches more lessons than the victories.

Back when Leon was rewarded by the ChronoSystem for stopping Lucian and his terrorist activities in Leviathan Quay, he got the chance to choose multiple of the terrorist leader’s racial traits, including offensive traits.

Out of all of them though, he decided to choose the Cockroach DNA Racial Trait and the Rat DNA Racial Trait.

Compared to the others like the Komodo Dragon Racial Trait, the Rat DNA especially seemed weak but Leon had his reasons.

The greatest strength of the Mechanist Class is infinite adaptability, and that innate nature of his class ended up teaching him more than anything else could.

A strong offensive racial trait may increase his attacking power, but in situations where nothing works and his life is in danger or when he’s ambushed, a strong offensive racial trait is not going to save his life.

And dead men don’t fight.

This is why he choose Undying Roach and Danger Premonition, and both racial traits have been clutch tonight.

Without Danger Premonition, he would have drank the soup and if nothing changed, that would have been the last meal of his life.

And without Undying Roach, he would have died within the first minute of his battle against the assassin simply because of how much damage he was receiving from the enemy.

A blade of pure superheated ionized gas cut through Leon’s abdomen like a hot knife through butter, exposing his guts, but they didn’t spill out.

BZZZ!

Leon grabbed his guts with one hand, forcing them back inside as he felt a stinging pain penetrate his brain and as his own grayish white ADE flared, he was healing rapidly!

He had a fearsome snarl on his face.

’What the hell!’ The assassin felt like he was going crazy as he watched it live. ’What kind of Ascended is this???’

’Who survives that?!’

He didn’t say it out, but inside, he was freaking out.

5 minutes later...

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The battle still continued within the dreamscape as the restaurant was already destroyed completely in the process, including the other customers who were like mere glitches in the system now.

They froze, disappearing and reappearing in static.

And yet, the battle didn’t end yet as Leon forced this assassin into the worst and most intense assassination job of his career by sheer willpower, perseverance, and a combination of sick HP and END.

And then, finally, the assassin lost it.

Throughout, from beginning till now most of his conversations were in his head as he rarely spoke, trying to understand exactly how Leon was able to resist against him but he was always coming short.

During this period of 5 minutes, Leon already tried times without number to escape the dreamscape but he simply couldn’t.

The assassin had a firm grip over dream and reality already.

Once again, Leon realized the true horror of facing a D Rank Fluxmancer in combat. And yet, he didn’t give up.

He continued fighting, he continued persevering, and he continued giving this Quantum Assassin the worst fight of his life.

’I can’t die!’ He kept on repeating to himself.

’Not yet, not when I have so many things that I’m yet to understand!’

’Not when I’m yet to recover my memories!’

For 3 more minutes, these two D Rank Ascended continued their epic battle in a dream and yet, there was no winner.

Leon was the more battered one of the 2 as he barely touched the Fluxmancer, and yet, he never relented, always regenerating and going back on the attack like a monster that knew no defeat or surrender.

And finally, the assassin realized that without doing something drastic, he would never be able to kill his target.

This realization made him sober.

Behind his ghost face mask, his gray eyes burned with cold and sinister killing intent as he exuded raw bloodlust. And finally he decided to use something that he’d never been forced to use in all his decades of assassination.

When the ChronoSystem described the Quantum Shaper Class for Leon when he just awakened in this world, it described it as the Class with authority over Spatial Energy, Temporal Energy, and Energy Manipulation.

The definition of Energy Manipulation is not linear, it’s broad.

Over the years since graduating from the Federation’s experimental lab and becoming a licensed assassin under the Omnicore Federation, Ghostface had been experimenting a lot with his Class abilities because he knew that he could never be a C Rank Ascended.

The leaders of the world ensured this.

And this meant the only way to grow stronger is by getting even more used to his Class abilities and learning to modify them and improve on them.

And over the years, of his abilities the one he experimented with most is Quantum Assassin.

Quantum Assassin doesn’t just grant authority over dream and reality, the secret behind it is that it’s a form of energy manipulation that affects the cracks separating dream and reality.

It’s just like NetRunners work between the cracks separating reality from the psionic realm and the internet.

By experimenting, over the years, Ghostface became increasingly better at energy manipulation and after 2 decades, he created a modified ultimate ability out of the base Class ability.

Since creating his ultimate ability, Ghostface had only ever used it in virtual simulations.

He never had the opportunity to use it against any of his targets because none of them ever resisted and pushed him to the extent where he thought of using it.

But finally, he met an opponent who pushed him to the wall.

And pushed to the wall, he unleashed everything.

His gold and white ADE erupted like a storm, spreading around him in a violent carpet of energy.

And then...

"Quantum Assassin: Conceptuality- Dream God!"

Leon felt the assassin’s ADE wash over his body in a torrent, making him freeze, and then he felt the density rise.

And then something that made his hair stand on end happened.

The assassin’s ADE density rose higher and higher, and higher again, and higher, and then it crossed a bottleneck and settled at C Rank.

The density of the assassin’s ADE rose to C Rank!
