Hearing Link’s question, the old chief of the tribe sighed, glanced at the injured half-orc women sitting nearby, and then spoke in a solemn voice.

"We don’t exactly know what that being was or is... but the day we brought that Lord Angel to our tribe, its ancient and powerful voice echoed in all of our heads..."

"That ’being’ ordered us to deliver that angel to its altar..."

The old chief shook his head and continued speaking in distress.

"Our tribe has lived in this place for hundreds of years, and such a phenomenon never happened before..."

"So, we thought that we might have angered the deity that was once enshrined in this destroyed temple by bringing that individual here..."

Lia frowned after hearing those words and asked,

"So you all didn’t even try to resist the sudden demands of an unknown entity that might do malicious things to your tribe if you fulfill its demands?"

"What if some powerful demon was sealed inside that altar, and giving that person you captured to him was sending a free vessel to the demon who could possess the vessel and terrorize your tribe?"

Lia’s questions were genuine, and her concern was valid.

In the past two thousand years of history, humanity and many other races have sealed countless powerful demons in various places before.

Many people might question why seal demons if you can just kill them right away.

But the answer to this is rather simple.

Just like any other race, humanity is prone to change with the flow of time; people are born, age, and die.

Such times when there were no SS-rankers in the entire human race were very small, but they had major impacts on the entire race.

SS-rankers aren’t some kinds of factory-made products that can be manufactured easily at will; they are exceptionally talented beings born only once in several decades or even centuries!

Some races have never even had SS-rankers since the beginning of the era of mana and miasma!

In these times, where there are no SS-rankers to fight external threats like demons and evil spirits, most races have no other choice but to either ask for help from the SS-rankers of the other races through the world alliance,

Or just seal the demon with some powerful artifact and leave the trouble to the future generations.

For powerful races like the human race, the elf race, the orc race, etc., asking others for help is a humiliating ritual that none of them want to go through!

This is one of the main reasons why the government in the current human empire pours billions upon billions of WAAC (World Awakener’s Association Coins) into developing the best academies and training facilities for awakeners!

The Great Freya Academy that Rio and the others graduated from only exists because the entire nation funds it with the richest resources and the best high-tech technologies just for the sake of nurturing one more SS-ranker for the human race!

Just the birth of a single new SS-ranker is enough to elevate the very status of the entire race in the entire world!
