"You need to help me," Finn almost begged Nora, who used to be the closest to him in this office. Nora took the forced resignation from his hand and looked around her consciously.

"You need to talk to Mr. George Mason. No one can do anything for you. We all need our jobs," She muttered, handing him a slip with a forced smile, "You can come and get your dues cleared on Thursday."

Finn seemed too worried now. George Mason had assured him his support, and now he wasn’t even receiving his calls.

Hunter didn’t miss the smugness in his secretary’s voice, but still, he couldn’t control the grin forming on his face.

"I. Am. Trying. To. Make. Your. Life. Better. Got it, Hunter?" She paused after every word to make him understand, "This is once in a lifetime chance. Don’t you want to prove yourself?"

Hunter didn’t dare to ask her.

"I know what you went through in your life... it wasn’t your mistake. But... we can’t destroy our lives just because people around us didn’t accept us... Trust me. We both are victims of similar circumstances."

She had started pacing again as the frown lines on her forehead multiplied.

Hunter stood there, momentarily speechless. For a few seconds, there was an awkward silence between them.

Without a word, he turned on his heels to leave the room when she called him again, "And Hunter?"

This time, he didn’t turn around, "Hmm?"

She took a slow breath, as if choosing her words carefully, "Don’t disappoint me," She told him softly.

Hunter gulped hard and then nodded. He couldn’t stay there any longer.

His men dug out her past, but still, he was curious about her. What went wrong?

What did she want from this company so badly?

Once he was out, he typed a text message to Logan, "I need a competitive lawyer here at Mason Traders. Levisay International will pay him. Ask him to accept the offer without any argument."

Logan’s response was instant, "Sure. Consider it done."
