Chapter 42: 42- Firecracker

Hunter sensed something was off when he found Sienna crying in her sleep.

"She... she is very little... please let her go."

"She must be dreaming," Brian, who was placing the Alfredo pasta on the table, stopped there.

"Hey, sugar. Wake up," He brushed his fingers through her hair, she shook a little with a hiccup.

"Please take me to her..."

Breaking all restraints, he took her in his arms and pressed her face to his chest, "You need to wake up, sugar," He whispered in her ear, "You’re safe."

He then passed a brief look to Brian, "Must be traumatized," he mouthed silently to his part-time butler, who didn’t look convinced.

Ma’am Sienna can’t be traumatized. She is very much capable of giving trauma.

"Sienna... hey..." Brian curved down his lips when he found Hunter kissing her temple.

"Someone used to lecture me about consent," He tried to tease his boss, but then realized his mistake.

His employer’s wife was already in pain.

"Sienna. Come back..." He wiped her face.

"Please take me to her..." She repeated the same thing.

"Take you to whom?" Hunter asked her with a frown. Her answer made him freeze in his place.

"M...my daughter. Take me to my daughter... she’s too little..." She said with a sob.

That night, instead of going to his room, he stayed in the living room and sent Brian to sleep. He kept Sienna’s door slightly ajar... just in case she woke up.

"Are you sure?" He had asked Hunter, glancing between him and the open door to her room. He was already aware that Hunter wouldn’t sleep anyway.

Hunter lay on the couch and stared at the ceiling.

Sienna had a daughter?

Why did nobody know about her?

Even Logan didn’t know about it when he dug her past.

A sharp scream made him bolt up. Without wasting a second, he was on his feet.

He rushed inside and found her thrashing against the sheets, "Please... don’t kill her. That’s okay if you want to kill me, but ..." She had started crying after that.

"Again, a bad dream," Brian muttered from the doorway. Sienna’s scream was so loud that he heard it in his room.

"Sugar..." Hunter took her burning body in his arms, "You’re safe."

He then turned to Brian, "Please call the doctor. She is having a fever."

Brian left with a nod, and Hunter pulled her more into his hard body, "Shh... it’s okay. Nobody can harm you, Menace," He placed his cheek on her head, "I’m right here. I promise."

Sienna opened her eyes and tried to stretch, but couldn’t. Her hands were not free to do that. As if... as if she was restrained against her will.

With half-opened eyes, she looked around and found a naked chest... right before her eyes, too close to her face.

The toned, muscular chest could belong to only one man.

Her eyes got wide like two saucers, "H...Hunter?" She didn’t know how to wake him up without touching him.

The familiar scent of cedar wood and lime was there, and she wanted to sniff his chest nonstop like a creep. It wasn’t like she was a virgin.

Like, technically, she never slept with anyone in this life.

But the way her body was reacting to this closeness was insane. She swallowed hard and got closer to touch her lips there. On the taut skin, right close to his nip*ple.

I’m not exactly kissing him. She tried convincing herself.

It’s just that I’m trying to move, and my lips might touch his body accidentally.

She chuckled at her theory and raised her face only to find his handsome face without glasses

Holy Moly shit!

She whispered to herself and, for some reason, felt her heart thudding in her chest. Hunter Levisay... The great Hunter Levisay wasn’t wearing his glasses!

She tried to move up, but his hold tightened around her. She looked down at his arms and found him wearing boxers...

He was only in his boxers...

He wasn’t wearing his clothes or his glasses. And was sleeping beside her. Sienna couldn’t decide if she should look down at his boner or glance up to witness the longest lashes in the world.

"It’s a sin to be this handsome," She told him sternly and felt him shaking before her eyes. Or maybe she was about to faint. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

She tried to wiggle a little to move back so that she could watch both when Hunter’s hand suddenly moved to get his glasses from the nearby stand and put them on.

"You’re awake?" She was taken by surprise when he kissed her forehead, "Thank God."

He placed the back of his hand on her forehead, "No temperature."

With a frown, she smirked, "Did I have a fever?" Her eyes were secretly betraying her as they lingered on the curves of his chest while he was putting on his t-shirt.

Urgh. She held her head. Why does it feel so heavy?

She winced as she pushed herself up, "I need to... go to bathroom..." She started.

"Don’t..." Hunter was beside her in an instant, pressing her shoulder to push her back against the bed, "Don’t get up too quickly, Sugar. You might get dizzy."

She squeezed her eyes in confusion before looking up, "B...but I can walk to the bathroom."

"I’ll take you..." He offered gently.

Something was not right.

None of it made sense. There was an odd taste in her mouth. She paused and swallowed lightly.

"Uh. My mouth... it feels yuck ... strange ..." She muttered, touching her lips.

"Yeah. That’s because you haven’t brushed your teeth," He explained to her. Her gaze drifted to the IV stand in the corner of the room.

Before she could speak, he slipped his arms around her and lifted her off the bed.

"My mouth never stinks, Hunter," She scrunched her nose, "It’s awful."

However, his reply startled her.

"Yeah. Because you never remained unconscious for three days straight, firecracker," He said, poking his nose playfully into her face.
