Reborn In The 90's: Saving My Siblings With A Fishing System
Chapter 259: Xiao San (II)
Zhai Muchen had no intention of leaving just yet, but he knew that he needed to handle a ton of things, so he took his leave without saying anything more. Once he was gone, Han Yichen turned to look at Han Ruochen. His eyes narrowed slightly, and he said to Han Ruochen, "Don’t think that you have escaped from a scolding. I know that Master Zhai was protecting you just now."
He was Han Ruochen’s father; did she really think that he could not see through her guilty look? What was more, three human traffickers were dragged from the compartment from which she had just come out. Only a fool would not be able to understand such a simple thing.
Han Ruochen: "..." Alright, it seems like she underestimated her father.
Realising that she could not escape from the scolding, she sat down in her seat and listened to her father chastising her. He went on and on for an hour before he stopped, but that was only because he wanted to take a sip of water, and after taking one sip, he continued to scold.
Han Ruochen: "..."
Han Beijiang: "..."
The two siblings looked at one another, not knowing what to say. It seemed like they had no way out of this scolding.
Fortunately, most of their journey was done, and they only needed to listen to their father’s scolding for a few more hours before they arrived at the Qiao village. This village was far from their village, sitting in the far end of the northwest. Not only was the wind around the village really cold, but there was almost no farmland, as most of the land was barren here.
Han Ruochen looked at the poor and desolate village, and her heart could not help but ache. She looked at the surroundings, which were deserted and said to her father in a slow voice, "Dad, this village—"
"I know." Han Yichen’s expression was not good in the slightest. Just one look around the entire village was enough to tell him what kind of life his daughter might be living at the moment. To think that Meng Yunhan lied to him and even said that this village was full of life and a lot of farmland. There were only three to four farmlands that had green crops flourishing on them, while the rest of the lands were left alone. It could be seen with one glance that this place was not a good place.
And yet Meng Yunhan married his daughter off to this village!
That woman! Just wait; once he returned home, he would deal with that reckless woman. How dare she treat his daughter in such a manner?
"Let’s go," said Han Yichen while looking around the village with a frown on his face. "We will ask someone to take us to your sister’s home."
Though Han Yichen found it embarrassing, the truth remained the same. Meng Yunhan had no idea where their daughter lived, as she had never bothered to take care of her once Han Xuehan was married off.
Han Ruochen also nodded with a furrow between her brows. Unfortunately, she also had no idea where her elder sister lived; even though she was reliving her life, Han Ruochen never found out where her elder sister lived throughout her past life. All she knew was that her elder sister was beaten to death by her husband, and her broken body was buried in a mass grave without a proper coffin or a tombstone. The grave was left unmarked.
A story that Han Ziyan was quite fond of telling her. Every time she thought that Han Ruochen was living way too peacefully, she would come to her room and tell her about the pitiful condition her sister was in when she was killed, with countless broken bones – something that could only happen when the victim faced inhumane torture.
Han Ruochen would never forget those words, and her hatred toward Han Xuehan’s in-laws increased tenfold every time she recalled those words. She swore she would deal with them properly.
While the two of them were looking for the Qiao family courtyard, at the same moment, a woman was sitting in the courtyard with a smile on her lips. Beside her, a young boy was looking around with a greedy look in his eyes. If not for the fact that his mother was holding his arm, the boy would be running around.
"Xiao Ai, are you doing better now?" asked Mother Qiao with a smile. This kind smile was something that she had never shown in front of Han Xuehan, but at the moment, she was smiling at Xiao Ai as if she were her ancestor.
Xiao Ai took a sip of the tea that was served to her and nodded. "I am much better. Now that my husband is in jail, I am no longer worried about being beaten."
She then turned to look at her son and patted him on the head and stated calmly, "Haohao is also feeling better now. Without his father terrorising him, everything is better for our mother and son."
"It’s good. It’s good that you two are doing better. A man like him, who beats his wife and bullies his son, should have been long sent to jail." Mother Qiao agreed at once, without thinking about her own actions. She too was no different than the man who beat his wife and son. The only difference was that she was beating her daughter in law.
When Han Xuehan returned home, she saw Xiao Ai sitting in the yard and her lips curled up in a sarcastic sneer. She was no longer surprised when she saw the woman, even if no one said a thing to her, Han Xuehan knew that Mother Qiao wanted to bring this woman home because she wanted her to give birth to a son for her son. As for Han Xuehan who was married to Elder Brother Qiao —hehe, no one bothered to ask her opinion on whether or not she was willing to let a Xiao San enter her house.
