Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 54 - 45: Incredibly Lucky Tianna Bloom
Stephen Bloom’s house was right next door to theirs, but the inside was a world apart. Never mind the quality of the building materials; even the furniture was made from expensive, solid wood.
It felt more like walking into a magnificent, gilded exhibition hall, reeking of new money. Her eyes full of venom, Sharon Caldwell was about to lead Flora Bloom upstairs to Tianna Bloom’s room when Flora stopped her.
"Wait."
As she spoke, Flora Bloom confidently made her way to Stephen Bloom’s cellar as if she’d been there a hundred times.
’Damn. The very tiles in this cellar were glittering gold. There were twenty to thirty jars of Daughter’s Red, and every single one was much larger than the jars at her own house.’
’And that wasn’t all. The floor was piled high with sacks of rice and flour, fine grains, cured meats, and sausages. There were also jars filled with pickled radishes and cabbage.’
Seeing Sharon Caldwell hurry over, Flora Bloom gave a sly grin. "Auntie, you don’t mind if I take my eight jars of Daughter’s Red first, do you?"
Sharon Caldwell shot Flora a contemptuous glare and sneered, "A little slip of a girl like you? How much do you think you can carry? Don’t you dare waste time moving things and delay my daughter’s treatment!"
"Don’t worry, I won’t. It’s just a few jars of wine."
"These jars of ours were custom-made from top-quality material. If you can’t lift them, go get your father to help you."
"That won’t be necessary. I can handle it myself."
"Hmph. If you can actually move them, you can take whatever you want from in here." ’She wasn’t just bluffing. Everything in their cellar was bought in bulk. Whether it was the sacks of rice and flour or the wine jars, nothing weighed less than thirty-three pounds. If that wretched girl Flora delayed Tianna’s treatment, she’d use it as an excuse to stop her from taking anything.’
But when Flora Bloom heard Sharon Caldwell’s words, her eyes lit up.
"You’ll keep your word, Auntie?"
"Of course. But the condition is, you have to do it alone."
"No problem. In that case, could you please prepare a large soaking tub for my cousin, Auntie? As soon as I’m done moving everything, I’ll detoxify her and treat her injuries."
Sharon Caldwell left without a shred of suspicion, completely unconcerned about how much a single person like Flora could possibly carry. But she had made a grave miscalculation. As a simple country woman, how could she possibly know that the Flora of today possessed a magical pocket dimension? Forget a few jars of wine; emptying their entire cellar would be a piece of cake for her.
Once Flora saw that Sharon Caldwell was a good distance away, she waved her hand. The jars of Daughter’s Red vanished from the cellar floor. They were followed by the cured meat, sacks of rice and flour, cured sausages, pickled fish, and all the pickled vegetables—the cabbage, bamboo shoots, and radishes. Everything was packed away into her dimension.
’These kinds of supplies were finite; once they were gone, getting more would be a huge hassle. Since they were right here for the taking, the more the better. And I’m definitely not leaving any for you.’
In high spirits, Flora Bloom left the cellar and went up to Tianna Bloom’s second-floor bedroom. Inside the attached bathroom, Sharon Caldwell had already prepared a large, wooden soaking tub.
Stephen Bloom was sitting by the head of the bed, his face etched with worry. When he saw Flora approach, he turned to glance at her. The barely suppressed malice in his eyes made Flora’s skin crawl.
She could feel a flicker of killing intent in his gaze.
’Stephen actually wants to kill me? Heh. And all because I wanted my jars of Daughter’s Red back? It seems this uncle of mine, who was always so nice to me growing up, has been hiding his true colors quite well.’
Feigning ignorance, Flora Bloom walked to the bedside to examine Tianna Bloom’s injuries.
As she got closer, Flora was stunned. ’What kind of bullshit luck did Tianna have?’
Flora could feel a potent wave of Water Energy radiating from Tianna. ’No, wait. Within that Water Energy, there’s a hint of icy coldness.’
’Is she seriously about to awaken a superpower? And an Ice Element one, at that?’
Flora had to admit, she was jealous.
’How come other people get to awaken offensive superpowers right off the bat? And of all people, it had to be someone she’d despised since they were kids? Meanwhile, all she got was a non-combat Water Ability?’
Tianna Bloom had two wounds: a scratch on her left cheek and a bite mark on her neck.
Normally, a direct infection from a zombie bite would have already turned Tianna into one of them. She wouldn’t just be running a high fever. But even with her eyes closed, her eyeballs were darting back and forth, indicating she was still conscious.
Furthermore, her wounds were already starting to scab over on their own, with no sign of the black blood typical of infection.
’It looked like Tianna wasn’t going to turn into a zombie, even without my help. The superpower energy in the air was growing denser and denser—a sure sign that she was about to successfully awaken.’
