Chapter 56: Chapter 46: Over 100 Little Zombies

That night, with Flora Bloom’s little pets standing guard, everyone slept peacefully.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

BANG! BANG! BANG!

A series of violent knocks echoed from outside the house.

With a deafening CRASH, like the main gate being smashed open, came the roar of a tiger, followed by a man’s bloodcurdling scream.

Flora Bloom, who had only just returned from Stephen Bloom’s house, was instantly on alert. She first ran to her parents’ room. Seeing they were safe, she grabbed a fruit knife and rushed downstairs.

Looking at the back gate, which had been shattered to icy bits, and Stephen Bloom, pinned to the ground by the white tiger, Flora Bloom pieced together the source of the commotion.

But at that moment, Flora Bloom’s heart suddenly lurched for some unknown reason. With no time to worry about her uncle and his family in the backyard, a water shield materialized behind her.

Three zombies. Judging by their clothes, they had once been villagers. The fresh meat was right within their grasp, but a water shield now blocked their path, much to their frustration.

So, they began to claw furiously at the water shield.

Neal Wallace, Ethan Monroe, and Mervin Warren heard the commotion and came running. Seeing that only a single shield stood between the three zombies and Flora Bloom, they immediately rushed to her aid.

Three orange-red fireballs shot toward the heads of the three zombies.

The flames seared the zombies’ hideous faces, burning them beyond recognition, yet they didn’t stop. Instead, they clawed at Flora Bloom’s water shield with even greater ferocity.

Flora Bloom had already dodged to the side. She slid up next to one of the zombies and plunged the fruit knife in her hand down into the top of its head.

But she didn’t feel the satisfying plunge she expected. The blade seemed to hit something incredibly hard, and now the knife was stuck fast in the zombie’s solid skull.

’This is bad. A normal knife can’t break through its skull. These are definitely not simple First Level zombies.’

The zombie reacted, swiping a hand at her before lunging to bite Flora Bloom.

Seeing the attack coming, Flora Bloom had no time to pull out the fruit knife and was forced to dodge away.

"Hahahaha, so that’s it. You awakened the Water Element, Flora Bloom? What a waste. You think you can kill zombies with an attack that weak?" Tianna Bloom had come to Flora Bloom’s house with her parents to take refuge. They had been sleeping when the commotion downstairs woke them. Earlier, they had seen a large horde of zombies gathering toward their own house and fled to Flora’s.

Naturally, they were the ones who had led the horde here.

Flora Bloom had no time for Tianna Bloom’s provocations. Without a proper weapon, her offensive power was indeed lacking. Her superpower, on its own, was only useful as a protective shield.

These three zombies were clearly much stronger than First Level zombies. Their speed and reflexes were also far beyond what First Level zombies should possess. Most critically, a hard membrane had grown over their skulls, one that ordinary weapons couldn’t penetrate.

But calling them Second Level zombies wasn’t quite right either; they hadn’t fully reached that stage. A Second Level zombie possessed intelligence. It wouldn’t have been so slow to react after being hit by Neal Wallace’s fire, and it wouldn’t still be single-mindedly focused on attacking her.

’These three must be on the verge of evolving into Second Level zombies. I can’t let them succeed.’ With that thought, Flora Bloom deliberately goaded Tianna Bloom, "If you’re so tough, then you go! You’ve got such a big mouth, why don’t you take these three out?"

But Tianna Bloom suddenly backed away, helping Stephen Bloom up and pulling Sharon Caldwell to a corner of the backyard, far from Flora Bloom’s battle.

A smirk played on her lips as she said coldly, "Do you take me for a fool? Even if I could kill them right now, I wouldn’t. I’ll wait for you to get bitten by the zombies, then I’ll help you all out by taking care of them."

Seeing Tianna Bloom’s boundless and baffling self-confidence, Flora Bloom started to laugh.

"You just awakened your Ice Element superpower, and you’re already acting like you’re some big shot?"

’Flora Bloom knew ordinary weapons were useless against these things that were about to evolve into Second Level zombies. Vert was too massive; it would be restricted in an indoor fight. If all three zombies managed to corner it, it would be difficult to win.’

’The combat-effective evolved creatures in her space were all on the large side. Releasing two of them wouldn’t allow them to fight at their full potential. Three or more wouldn’t even have room to move.’

’And releasing just one would be no match for these three Quasi-second-level zombies.’

So, Flora Bloom called over the white tiger, which was in the backyard glowering at Stephen Bloom and his family.

"Little White, lure them into the backyard."

Receiving the order, Little White leaped from the yard into the house in a single bound, swiping at the three zombies with its claws.
