Reincarnated as a Lizard
Chapter 464: A... Special Mountain...
What appeared as the mist cleared wasn’t just more bones, but also more blood vessels, blood vessels no smaller than the one they had been following... And just from a single glance around, the number of blood vessels within a few hundred meters of the two of them was already more than a dozen. The quantity of blood being transported through so many blood vessels was no longer something Verdell could comprehend, as he realized that whatever they were moving towards was undoubtedly something created by someone truly powerful within the Eternal Life Sanctum. Not just a normal necromancer, but a truly senior figure who might even be an SS Rank Necromancer and not one at the lower end of the rank.
Normally, someone at the SS Rank was already terrifying on their own, but a necromancer at that level was completely different, as they were not only capable of wielding all sorts of strange magic and curses, but also had the ability to create and command an army of living dead on such a scale that it could drown out a normal SS Rank individual.
The thought of facing that kind of existence made Verdell want nothing more than to turn around and find a hole to hide away inside of, but sitting on top of Scaly, he didn’t have much of a choice in the matter as the two of them continuing moving forward. Different from him, Scaly wasn’t the slightest bit intimidated by what she saw and instead only became more curious. Wanting to figure out where all the blood was going and if it had something to do with the large number of long-necked mist sheep she ran into.
And... As the mist slowly began lifting. Revealing more, Scaly and Verdell soon enough laid eyes on the origin of those large blood vessels, as what could only be described as a living mountain made entirely of flesh emerged before them. Squirming in all its glory as large clumps of blood and flesh burst out from it before transforming into long-necked mist sheep the second they landed on the ground in a constant stream without end before long-necked mist sheep that had spawned ran off into the mist.
A truly spectacular and grotesque sight at the same time, causing Scaly’s eyes to shine in wonder and amazement while the passenger on her back almost threw up at the terrifying sight before him. Only holding himself back thanks to his extensive experience as an adventurer. "What... What kind of abomination is this...?" Only able to mutter a few words before falling silent.
Also feeling curious about the question Verdell presented, Scaly attempted to inspect the squirming mountain of flesh...
[Experimental Test Subject 0839FM, Flesh Mountain, lvl 1]
[Description: Experimental test subject belonging to the FM series of experimental creations under the Eternal Life Sanctum. More widely known as flesh mountain. Created by a powerful necromancer attempting to create a source of eternal life. Considered a failure as it can’t serve as a source for eternal life and requires a vast quantity of blood to sustain itself. Only useful within a dungeon to rapidly gather a large number of bones and blood by allowing the flesh mountain to feed on dungeon monsters and expand.]
And to her surprise, she ended up succeeding. Learning... Eh... She didn’t understand much of what the flesh mountain was outside of the fact that it was some kind of experiment created by something called a necromancer. How and why, it continued creating new monsters, she didn’t understand, but she had a feeling it might have something to do with the gathering bones part of the description.
In other words, though she had no idea how powerful this flesh mountain was, she at least knew that this necromancer capable of creating something like this was bound to be powerful.
Problem was, she couldn’t see any sign of the necromancer, as all she could see was bones, blood vessels, more bones, flesh mountain and newly spawning long-necked mist sheep.
Even worse, as she shifted her attention towards the dwarf on her back that had gone completely dead silent, she realized that he was just staring towards the flesh mountain in the distance with a look of fear and dread on his face. Making her somewhat confused, as the squirming mountain in the distance wasn’t exactly threatening so to say. Unless he considered the weird squirming of the mountain scary?
Rumble~
Pondering this to herself, a sudden shift below her suddenly caught her off guard, as the countless bones began surging towards the flesh mountain in the distance like a gaping maw had suddenly opened and began sucking in the bones from all around.
"Get up into the air! Quick!" Of course, that included her and Verdell, as a certain someone seemed to finally show signs of life as he called out for her to fly up before the two of them ended up joining the great river of bones in becoming a part of the flesh mountain-
Whoosh~ 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Not that she had any intention of becoming part of the flesh mountain, as she flapped both her wings and took to the sky just as the two of them got within a hundred meters of that towering mountain of flesh. Ascending to a height far above the flesh mountain that allowed the fearful dwarf on her back to calm down as both took in the scene below.
Watching as the countless blood vessels were torn apart alongside the sea of bones before being swept into the flesh mountain alongside a few unlucky long-necked mist sheep. Everything happened so fast that Verdell felt certain that he would have been dead if he had been trapped in the sea of bones on his own. Feeling immensely happy that he had decided to sit on top of Scaly as the two of them had advanced. Knowing there was a very high chance he would be dead if he hadn’t been sitting on top of Scaly and had been swept away before she could jump in to save him.
