Chapter 580: Chapter 578: Xue Yang, I Want to Have a Snowball Fight

Seeing Lin Xi laugh so happily, Lin Zhenhai knew his worries were unnecessary.

Uncle Liu was already waiting at the entrance. When he saw the three of them step out, he immediately approached respectfully. He first bowed to Lin Zhenhai. "Chairman." Then, he turned to the younger couple with a respectful smile. "Hello, Young Miss. Hello, Young Master Xue."

Xue Yang smiled in response. "Uncle Liu, long time no see."

Lin Xi also greeted him playfully, "Uncle Liu!" Her cheerful tone made it sound as if she were speaking to a beloved family elder.

Uncle Liu nodded vigorously. Seeing his young miss so happy, he felt a joy no less than Lin Zhenhai’s.

Lin Xi said crisply, "Uncle Liu, I’m entrusting my dad’s safety to you."

Uncle Liu gave a slight bow, replying with solemn gravity, "Please rest assured, Young Miss. It is my duty." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Lin Xi and Xue Yang helped Lin Zhenhai into the car. After receiving a nod from them, Uncle Liu quickly walked around to the driver’s side, got in, and started the vehicle. He merged smoothly into the busy flow of traffic and soon disappeared from sight.

Xue Yang and Lin Xi watched the car until it was gone, then turned to each other. Lin Xi gently took Xue Yang’s hand, interlocking their fingers as she leaned her head tenderly on his shoulder. A sweet smile graced her lips as she said softly, "Xue Yang, let’s go home too."

The moment Lin Xi’s hand touched his, Xue Yang felt how icy cold it was. He immediately enveloped her small hand with his large one and then took her other hand as well. "Why are your hands so cold?" he asked with concern.

Lin Xi just smiled. "They’re not cold anymore."

Xue Yang frowned and gently urged her, "Let’s go warm up in the car."

But Lin Xi shook her head, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "No, I don’t want to. This is the first snow of the year! There must be children playing by the road. I want to go see."

Xue Yang felt helpless but couldn’t bring himself to refuse her, so he compromised. "Alright, but you have to stay warm so you don’t catch a cold."

"Okay, I will!" Lin Xi promised with a laugh, her eyes shining with childlike innocence and joy.

His broad palm gently enveloped her slender hand, and the two began to walk slowly toward home.

Due to the drifting snow, the road was nearly empty of pedestrians; only a few scattered figures hurried past in the cold wind. Occasionally, a car would drive by slowly, its wheels rolling cautiously, wary of skidding on the slippery surface.

Xue Yang watched over Lin Xi carefully, keeping her on the inside of the sidewalk and using his own body to shield her from the wind and snow, making sure she was safe. Under his meticulous protection, Lin Xi was like a lively elf, hopping lightly along the path with a carefree, sun-bright smile. She also seemed like a fairy from the heavens, wandering freely through the mortal realm. Her unfettered grace and spirit were intoxicating to behold.

Her cheerful presence drew the attention of the few passersby, who frequently turned their heads to look again. They were first struck with amazement at Lin Xi’s beauty. When they saw the handsome and deeply considerate man at her side, they were treated to a heartwarming public display of affection. It was a sweet sight they willingly enjoyed. If only it wasn’t so cold, they thought, we’d stay for another helping.

About thirty minutes later, they reached the entrance of Tongfang Residential District. Before they even stepped inside, they could hear a clamor of joyful laughter from within.

Lin Xi’s heart leaped with joy. She let go of Xue Yang’s hand and ran inside. The entire district was a world draped in silver, where a group of children frolicked in the snow. They were laughing and chasing each other, their snowballs dancing through the air.

Lin Xi shouted excitedly, "Xue Yang, look! They really are having a snowball fight!" She turned to him, her eyes glistening with anticipation. "Should we join them?"

Xue Yang responded with a smile. "We can. But first, let’s go home and get our gear."

"Huh? But none of them are wearing gear." Lin Xi hesitated. "Won’t we look out of place?"

"They are them, and we are us," Xue Yang said calmly, pulling her into the elevator.

Soon, they were back in their apartment. The moment they were inside, Lin Xi rushed to a side bedroom and dug out the snowball-fighting gear they had prepared last year. She quickly put it on, grabbed her tools, and eagerly pulled Xue Yang back downstairs, ready to join the joyous battle.

As soon as they stepped out of the building, a group of sharp-eyed children spotted them. "Whoa, look! That lady over there is super pretty, and she has a really cool snowball gun!" one of them shouted excitedly.

"What are we waiting for? Let’s go get the pretty lady to join us!"

Attracted by the impressive snowball gun in her hand, a group of older kids immediately started to close in on her. The children launched a fierce offensive, pelting Lin Xi with a rain of snowballs. Not one to back down, she quickly loaded her snowball gun with snow and began to counterattack. However, despite its impressive appearance, the gun proved somewhat ineffective in an actual battle.

After a short while, Lin Xi realized the gun’s limitations and decisively tossed it aside. She started scooping up snowballs with her bare hands and launching them directly at the kids. Her throws traced beautiful arcs through the air, colliding and weaving with the barrage from the children.

"Xue Yang, come help me!" Lin Xi shouted, scanning the chaos for him. But amid the flurry of snowballs and the children’s laughter, she couldn’t spot him anywhere.

In that brief moment of distraction, she was hit by several well-aimed shots. Snowballs exploded against her face, head, and body, instantly turning her into a snowman. A bit of snow even trickled down her collar, making her shiver. Yet, despite being ambushed, a radiant smile never left Lin Xi’s face. She was thoroughly enjoying the chaotic fun of the snowball fight.

"Hey lady, your boyfriend’s scared! He doesn’t dare show his face!" a mischievous child teased. "If you surrender now, we’ll let you go!"

Lin Xi just smiled, responding without yielding an inch. "Hmph! My boyfriend is a great hero; he wouldn’t be scared. As for making me surrender... let’s see if you little rascals have what it takes."

Quickly composing herself, Lin Xi agilely bent down, scooped up a handful of pristine white snow, and hurled it at the kids in front of her. Caught off guard, they scattered in disarray from her attack.

"Hahaha!" Her laughter echoed across the snow. "I can hold my own against you little imps all by myself!"
