I don't know why this story has a gender bender tag, I might suggest a horror tag though.
The story and characters are well developed, and I enjoyed the writing. The romance between Xion and Darius starts off kind of a slow burn, but their relationship is consistent once settled. The storytelling caused me to feel anxious, horrified, in love, surprise and silly at times. Definite re-read for me.
