Chapter 177: Chapter 176: Violent Bai Menghan

The number of bullet holes letting in water was growing. They weren’t having much of an effect yet, but if this continued and they became too concentrated, the pressure from the seawater could easily rip the fuselage open. If that happened, it would be all over for Fang Chenyi and Menghan.

But the enemy’s firepower was too intense. For a moment, Fang Chenyi was so pinned down he couldn’t even peek out.

Just like that, they were at a standstill.

Fortunately, the guy stopped firing after emptying a magazine.

He’d planned to use the reload as a chance to rush out and land a headshot. The problem was, Fang Chenyi had never handled a firearm before. He had no idea how long it took to swap out a magazine. If he charged out just as the pirate finished reloading, he’d be royally screwed.

Seeing his subordinate cease fire, the pirate leader, who was still on the floor, shook the debris from his head. His eyes landed on an AK rifle lying right in front of him—it belonged to one of his men. A flash of joy surged through him, and his arm shot out to grab it.

FWIP—THUNK!

The sound of something slicing through the air was followed by a fleshy impact. A bloodcurdling scream erupted from the pirate leader. A glance revealed a bloody hole in his outstretched arm. Fortunately, after his recent flurry of shots, Fang Chenyi had gotten a feel for his own power. This time, although the projectile pierced the leader’s arm and pinned it to the cabin floor, it hadn’t completely torn through the limb.

FWIP—THUNK!

Another projectile sliced through the air. To stop the man from getting any more bright ideas, Fang Chenyi shot a hole straight through his other arm as well.

However, in the process, the leader had also caught sight of Fang Chenyi.

The leader’s jaw nearly hit the floor when he saw the man before him—an Asian guy holding a slingshot.

’My God, this guy can actually kill people with a slingshot! What kind of insane move is that?!’

Following the leader’s gaze, the pirate in the first-class aisle was able to pinpoint Fang Chenyi’s approximate location.

A vicious glint flashed in his eyes as he took a soft step, inching toward the opening of the aisle ahead.

His plan was to move over carefully and then unload a burst of gunfire in the general direction of Fang Chenyi’s hiding spot. Even if it didn’t kill him, it would reveal his exact position.

However, Fang Chenyi was completely unaware of any of this.

After glancing at the leader and seeing that his arms were now useless for holding a gun, he turned his attention back to the aisle opening and called out:

"You in the aisle! You’d better drop your weapon and walk over here, or I’m taking your leader’s life!"

The moment Fang Chenyi finished speaking, a gunshot rang out—BANG! In the next instant, a fresh bloody hole appeared on the head of the pirate leader still lying on the ground.

Fang Chenyi stared, stunned. ’What the fuck? What’s going on? Aren’t they on the same side??’

And in that brief moment of shock, a gun barrel suddenly poked out from the aisle. Without a moment’s hesitation, the trigger was pulled.

Sensing danger, Fang Chenyi immediately threw himself into a forward roll.

A bullet grazed his back as it shot past.

He quickly dropped prone under a row of seats, a burning pain searing across his back. Fang Chenyi couldn’t help but curse, ’Damn it. I can’t believe these pirates are so heartless they’d even kill their own leader!’

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!...

A hail of gunfire sent debris flying all around Fang Chenyi. Bullets whizzed past, barely missing him. ’If this keeps up,’ he thought, ’I’m really done for.’

’What am I going to do?!’

He had his slingshot in hand, but there was absolutely no time to aim.

However, just as Fang Chenyi was frowning in thought, the gunfire suddenly stopped.

At the same time, a heavy THUD echoed in his ears.

’Is he out of bullets?? No, that’s not it!’

With that thought, Fang Chenyi instantly shot to his feet, aiming his slingshot toward the pirate. But a moment later, he lowered it again.

A strange expression appeared on his face.

He vaulted over a pile of shattered seats and ran toward the mouth of the aisle.

He reached the aisle opening in just a few strides, yanked a dazed Bai Menghan—who was holding a fire extinguisher—into his arms, and pulled her into a corner.

"I killed someone... Chenyi... I killed someone..."

Pulled into Fang Chenyi’s embrace, the dazed Bai Menghan finally snapped back to reality. She threw herself into his arms and began to repeat fearfully.

It turned out that while the pirate had Fang Chenyi pinned down, Bai Menghan had quietly slipped out of the first-class cabin, carrying a large fire extinguisher.

Thanks to the cover of the gunshots, and because the pirate never imagined someone could be behind him, he had no idea what was happening until the very moment Bai Menghan gritted her teeth and viciously smashed the fire extinguisher into the back of his head.

Gently patting Bai Menghan’s back and stroking her hair, Fang Chenyi comforted her, saying:

"They’re pirates, vicious killers who deserve to die. You don’t need to blame yourself. Really, Menghan. Just think of it this way: if you hadn’t killed him, he would have killed me."

Hearing this, Bai Menghan, still in Fang Chenyi’s arms, trembled. When she looked back at the pirate on the floor, the guilt and unease in her eyes had faded significantly.

"But... but I killed someone, Chenyi. Am I going to jail now, Chenyi? I don’t want to leave you! I don’t want to leave you, Chenyi!"

"Ugh... Damn it! Who the hell ambushed me?!"

However, just as Fang Chenyi was about to offer a few more words of comfort, the pirate Bai Menghan had struck suddenly began to sit up, rubbing a large welt on the back of his head.

While Bai Menghan was in decent shape, she was still a woman. Her blow had only managed to daze the pirate. After lying on the ground for a moment, he slowly regained consciousness.

Seeing this, Fang Chenyi and Bai Menghan exchanged a look.

Fang Chenyi immediately lifted his leg high and brought his foot down hard on the nape of the pirate’s neck.

THUD. The pirate, who had just managed to sit up, collapsed face-first onto the floor again.

"Er, haha. See? You can relax now. You didn’t kill anyone."

Fang Chenyi gently tapped Bai Menghan’s nose, genuinely impressed with her.

Bai Menghan glanced at the pirate, who was once again lying motionless, and asked with some concern, "Chenyi, did you just knock him out again?"

Fang Chenyi nodded. As he pulled Bai Menghan back into the first-class cabin, he reassured her:

"Don’t worry, I just knocked him unconscious."

Of course, Fang Chenyi wasn’t about to tell Bai Menghan that his kick had just snapped the man’s neck...

"Fourteen pirates have come on board so far. Our little ’informant’ said there are nineteen of them in total, which means there are still five outside. You hide here for now. They must have heard the gunshots, so they’ll probably send someone to check things out soon."
