Chapter 390: Meeting With The Almighty [Pt 2]

Paul laid on the floor shivering as the voice of the gods thundered above him.

It would have surprised the team leaders to see their Pariah reduced to such a state but they wouldn’t have fared any better themselves.

It went without saying that they would have been reduced to smithereens if they were brought to the council.

Their bodies were too weak to handle the immense aura and glory that radiated from the gods.

It was a testament to Paul’s strength and the mark upon him that he didn’t disintegrate.

The information fed to his mind alone had taken a toll on him and he was gradually readjusting to his environment.

At the moment though he laid still and listened intently to what the gods were saying.

"There are four more weeks to come with four different scenarios."

He knew that much from the information that had been shared to him but he knew nothing was ever that simple

More news was coming and he wasn’t sure he would like it.

The whole thing seemed too convenient and he knew that there was always a catch in these sorts of things.

The next words confirmed his suspicions and made him got back on his knees.

"Since the singularity has gotten one of them, you have to get the rest or at least solve half of them in order to be considered the winner of the Second Wave."

The superiority that he felt after the gods revealed so much to him instantly vanished only to be replaced by a hollow feeling in his stomach.

He had to win at least three of them!

It wasn’t that he wasn’t sure that he could. After all, he had the advantage because of his knowledge.

This was a direct competition with the Hoarder!

There was bound to be new tricks coming from the boy.

"Is there a problem with what you have just heard?"

"No, I have no objections," He quickly responded.

He didn’t want to sound scared or ungrateful given all that the gods had done for him.

It was all he could do not to object to it. He wondered why the gods hadn’t sent angels to do the jobs in his place.

Surely, they were much stronger than the gifted.

He couldn’t just get over the feeling that he would be outsmarted once more by the Hoarder.

"We tried that but it failed. He defeated four of the angels we sent."

"Eh?"

They had picked his brain and known what he was thinking.

That wasn’t what bothered Paul.

Jeremy had defeated four angels on his own!!!

How then was he supposed to defeat such a monster. He felt like a matyr for a lost cause.

The gods knew what he was thinking all along but chose not to comment on it till now.

A dose of fear was healthy after all. Rash decisions were often made because of too much confidence in one’s ability.

It would be a shame to underestimate the singularity given everything that had happened.

They couldn’t stand the fear that assailed their pawn as he heard what happened to the angels. He was their last bet after all.

"Pull yourself together like the champion you are. Take a look at yourself in the past."

The scene were he first met Jeremy flashed through his head and he saw himself through the eyes of the other.

Based on his stats then, he had been no better than a piece of trash.
