The joy of Paul and Lillith was short-lived when the fifth week arrived. It was a totally different experience from what they had earlier seen.

The events played out exactly how it had been described.

The skies vanished in an instant, the heavens folding away like a scroll.

That seemed to drive some people crazy as they lost their mind in the absence of the sky, their minds unable to cope with the sheer abnormality of the situation.

Mountains and islands were uprooted and displaced too further plunging the world into an apocalyptic chaos.

The ground beneath the survivors’ feet shifted constantly, making every step a gamble.

More strangely, the world became an alternate reality where there was a constant spatial shift among everything.

The locations of objects, landmarks, and even the ground itself were no longer fixed, leading to a landscape in perpetual motion

It drove the physicists and engineers mad especially as it broke the laws of nature they had been accustomed to.

The only saving grace was that there was a guiding map. It was a general map that was provided to everyone at the start of the week.

They could all see it on their status screen. In it they saw that they were supposed to get to a particular structure.

It was the sole agenda of the week.

The problem was that the structure wasn’t exactly pinned down. It kept vanishing, so they knew they had to hurry to make it there.

Time was a very important factor as there was also a countdown of seven days to get there.

It went without saying that the consequences of failure would be devastating.

Among a small group of people walking, Paul was walking alone, his mind occupied with the general map that had appeared in his mind’s eye.

The map was their only guide to the safe haven, a structure that would grant them refuge and ensure his victory over Jeremy.

The only problem was that it was a fleeting target, appearing and disappearing at random intervals.

With his engineering mindset, he had predicted the few areas it usually appeared in as the catchment area wasn’t that random.

It was only the first day of the week but he knew better than to be relaxed about it.

His confidence had come back with his victory in the previous week and he was all for following it swiftly with another win.

He had come back to an awestruck team who was surprised and glad that he and Lillith had managed to clear the Crumbling Tower on their own.

"Relax from worrying. We set out early so we have seven days," Lillith said, coming to walk besides him, her words interrupting his train of thought.

"You know I can’t do that,"He said all the while watching the countdown in his vision tick away mercilessly.

"I might be dreaming but is that Steven and his group I see?" Lilith piped out.

She looked at Paul to see that he was smiling at the sight.

"I can see that this is not a coincidence and you know about it. When did you plan it?"

"Shortly before we left for the Crumbling Tower. I called all the other key members of the Alliance from all over the world. I want to make a squad of the Alliance’s full force. We’ll meet the others at different points as we’re heading to the location."

"That far back uh. What happened to keeping me in the loop?" She said with a mock frown.

"I prefer seeing the surprise on your face."

Behind them, the team leaders were on alert as they saw another group advancing towards them.

"There’s no need for that, Nye, they are friends not enemies," Paul said as he heard the former Alpha team leader come up to him presumably to ask what to do.

He nodded and shrank back to stay with the others.

The other group were now close enough to make out fully. They were fifteen in total.

Lilith noticed that they weren’t all Steven’s people. It was just the strongest members of different groups that came together.

From their moody expressions, it was apparent that they had lost people of their own.

They all bowed at the sight of Paul and Steven stepped forward to address him on their behalf.

"Guildmaster, it’s a pleasure as usual to serve you. We all came as soon as we could," He said with a low bow. "Congrats on your recent win. We saw that you cleared the Crumbling Tower."

"Lillith and I did so, yes. It was hard but we succeeded."

Steven threw a polite smile in Lillith direction but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.

If there was one sentiment the Alliance leaders shared worldwide, it was their dislike for their Guildmaster closest friend and lookalike.

They couldn’t put a finger on the reason but they just didn’t like her. For one, she was always quiet and always at his side.

Very little was known of her otherwise. The Guildmaster had denied that they were related or dating so their closeness was surprising.

There were even a few conspiracy theories that she had something over him.

Nobody could say it out loud to the Guildmaster hearing though so they showed their displeasure at her through body language.

Steven looked at the team leaders and was surprised at their small number and absence of members.

If he had questions about the team, he didn’t ask. Casualties were now a normal part of life in the Apocalypse.

"Let’s set out to win this week," Paul said to the groups as they merged together.
