Rise Of The Hoarder
Chapter 441: A Fulfilled Wish
In the hospital wing of the city’s general section, Lyra Belkovich laid on a white bed attended by a bespectacled nurse.
She had tried in vain to convince the woman that she was in fact sane and that the whole thing had been a big mistake but her words fell on deaf ears.
"You need to calm down and rest. You’ll be back to your duties in no time," The nurse said, smiling down at her and patting her head.
In response, Lyra struggled against the tight restraints on her hands.
Apart from the fact that the older woman was talking to her like she was an invalid, she hated that she was powerless to do anything about it.
She had been given two shots of tranquilizers back when she was captured by the guards and she could already feel their effect though she tried to fight it.
"Have you listened to anything I’ve been saying? I’m perfectly fine, let me go."
She was now frustrated by what she saw as the woman’s lack of common sense. Her earlier threats hadn’t even made her bat an eyelash.
She strongly suspected that Jeremy or the board leaders had a hand in it and wanted her confined in the hospital to keep her out of their way.
It made her more anxious to leave the hospital so she could stop Jeremy from doing whatever he was hatching next.
She had thought she could change things, that she could make a difference.
But now, she was trapped, and the people she had tried to save were dead.
She fought back tears as the image of the dying mass outside the gate flashed across her mind.
"Hush now. You should be feeling sleepy by now," The nurse said placing a finger on her lips.
As much as she wanted to argue, she found the nurse’s word to be accurate.
The room swam out of focus and she felt her eyelids grow heavy.
"I won’t let you win, Jeremy," she whispered deliriously, her voice trembling with determination. "I’ll find a way to stop you. No matter what it takes."
The next second, she was fast asleep and wasn’t conscious to hear the nurse ask her to repeat what she had said.

"Where am I?" Lyra wondered out loud as she found herself in a white room.
She felt exposed and dirty in the bright light.
On looking down at herself, she found to her surprise that she had a pristine appearance to match the place.
She was garbed in an immaculate white gown which was just her size and flowed freely around her.
Her hair which was usually in a knot was now smooth and silky like it had been brushed thoroughly.
She was also feeling very light on her feet like she could float if she wanted to.
"Have I died?"
The thought flashed in her mind as she processed everything that she was seeing.
She didn’t think that it was the case. Her memories was still intact and the last thing she remembered was lying down on the hospital bed trying to convince the nurse to let her go.
"Barring the possibility that I forgot how I died, this might just be a lucid dream," She said to herself.
>FWOOSHH!!!<
As soon as she had the thought, the landscape changed immediately.
Before she would look around to see where she was, she felt an overwhelming aura so strong that she fell on her knees.
Though she didn’t see anything, from what she sensed, it didn’t come from one person alone but from a group of individuals.
She had never felt so powerless than how she currently did and she laid unmoving on the ground.
She silently prayed that they were friends and not foes as she realized that the aura they gave off was far stronger than what she had felt in the presence of Jeremy and his angels.
"LYRA BELKOVICH!"
The voice that thundered her name was androgynous making her unable to tell the gender of the person.
At the same time, it sounded like the whole group had said her name but she couldn’t figure out how they had rehearsed it to sync perfectly.
In a way she felt that the person or group was privy to all her secrets and knew her intimately.
"We are the Administrators!"
A gush of happiness washed over as she heard those words.
"Finally? I knew it," she muttered unable to shout or do anything more than that.
For as long as she could remember, she had always wanted to come in contact with the Administrators that ran the world.
Because of her ability and what she had foreseen, she intuitively knew a bit more about how the world operated than others.
She had long suspected that the ’God’ that presided over Earth had to be one of many gods rather than the omnipotent being he was cut out to be by popular culture.
She had always had trouble believing that a single being was capable of singlehandedly managing the entire cosmos across the galaxies.
She believed that if it was the case, he would have flushed out evil since without the need to consider Justice and the balance between good and evil in the world.
The ideal model that had come to her mind was a group of gods who created laws and shared different sectors among themselves to govern.
She hadn’t spoken about it in a long time though as she had learned to keep quiet about her theories.
People around her weren’t always receptive to new ideas and the time for psychological analysis was lost when the Apocalypse arrived as efforts now turned to trying to survive each week.
Seeing that she was right about them all along felt surreal to her and she couldn’t wait to hear why they had summoned her.
She felt the pressure on her body decrease and she realized that they had reduced their aura to give her mobility.
She could now move her limbs to some degree and she dragged herself upright to a kneeling position.
The supreme beings in the Grand assembly all heaved a sigh as they prepared to tell Lyra Belkovich why they had summoned her.
