Chapter 442: A Newly Appointed Executioner

The Supreme beings sat majestically on their thrones looking down on the human that bowed before them.

One would consider them cold and unmoving but their feelings were far from that.

They had watched in horror as the singularity they wanted to eliminate grew stronger by the day and escaped the hands of all the executioners they had sent his way.

The problem was that they had to abide by the laws themselves, preventing them from direct interference.

They could do certain things, but even those had limitations.

Even in a place outside of time, these beings felt impatient.

They had to resort to drastic measures which was why they had summoned Lyra Belkovich.

They reasoned that she didn’t have much to lose and that she had the right motive to take him out.

There was also the fact that she was a leader and had tactical awareness in fighting to rival the best. She was just limited in her current state against a monster like Jeremy.

It remained up to her to prove them right or not.

"Lyra Belkovich," The voice intoned, resonating with an otherworldly echo.

"You have been summoned here for a grand purpose which will save many lives. The balance of your world is threatened, and you are a key element in restoring it," Another voice said at the same time.

She could now separate the voices from each other as they became more distinct to her.

The aura in the room shifted, becoming less oppressive but still intense enough to command respect.

Gradually, she was acclimating to her surroundings.

Her heart pounded as she knelt with her gaze fixed on the ground. She could feel the weight of their collective attention on her.

She blinked in confusion as she struggled to understand how she could be important enough to be entrusted with the fate of the world.

"You know of the one called Jeremy Lewis."

She nodded once, affirming that she did.

"He is a blot on Earth that is meant to be wiped off. If left unchecked, he would destroy everything. He has to be stopped before that."

She felt a kinship with the supreme beings as she could sense the frustration in their voice when they talked about him.

She was already grateful that she wasn’t alone in feeling such and that it had caught the attention of the gods.

She felt the piercing gaze of one of the Administrators.

The aura around this figure was slightly different from the others—it was more direct and focused on her.

When they spoke, their voice was clear and resonant, echoing in the vast space.

"You made an alliance with this Jeremy Lewis, no?"

She stuttered as she looked for the right words to say. She didn’t want to be indicted for it.

"Uhmm... actually itsss not like..."

"No need to be so flustered. We know you had your own reasons for doing so. This is a chance to redeem yourself," One of them said, stopping her from rambling.

"Lyra Belkovich, we have observed your struggles and your determination to change the fate of your people. Deep down you love your group, you also possess a strength and resolve that has caught our attention," The former voice said. "We understand your mistrust of Jeremy and your desire to protect those who depend on you."

Lyra swallowed hard, her mind racing as she felt understood by them. "I tried to stop him, but I was overpowered. He’s too strong and his influence is everywhere. He has managed to win the hearts of the other board leaders. I’m only one person against all of them."

The Administrator nodded. "Jeremy’s power is formidable, but he is not invincible. We can help you remove him from power and ensure the safety of your people. However, to do this, we need your consent to act through you. You are too weak the way you are."

Lyra’s eyes widened. "Act through me? What do you mean?"

"We will temporarily merge our essence with yours, granting you the strength and abilities needed to confront Jeremy and prevail. This will not only protect your city but also align with your desire for justice and safety. We have to hear you verbally agree to this."

The proposition filled Lyra with a mix of hope and fear. She had always wanted to protect her people, but merging with an Administrator sounded daunting.

She wasn’t sure that her frail body could contain the strength of an Administrator. What if she couldn’t stand it and she exploded from within?

However, she knew that without their help, she had no chance against Jeremy.

"I agree," she said, her voice trembling but resolute. "I trust you to help me save my people."

The Administrator extended a hand, and a warm, golden light enveloped Lyra.

"You chose right," He said in a warm voice.

She felt a surge of energy and clarity as their essences clashed and intertwined.

ARGHHHH!!!

Blinding pain shot up her spine and spread across her body and she rolled across the floor as a violent spasm assailed her.

"Make it stop!" She sobbed and begged as she felt like he insides was being torn apart.

The light intensified until it became blinding, and then just as suddenly, it was gone.

The light began to fade, and Lyra felt herself being gently pulled back towards consciousness. "Wait!" she called out. "Will I see you again? Will you guide me?"

Lyra found herself back in the hospital bed, but something was different this time around.

She felt a powerful presence within her living inside her mind.

She could hear the Administrator’s voice in her mind, it was calm and reassuring but she still had her misgivings.

For some reason, she felt that her body was more him than hers.

She didn’t know how to feel about it as she wasn’t sure if the decisions she would be taking would be independent of the Administrator’s influence.

There was something that they both agreed on however.

She had to kill Jeremy before the end of the scenario.
