Rise Of The Hoarder
Chapter 449: Confronting A God
Jeremy stood before the fortress, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. The power within those obsidian walls called to him, resonating with his own energy, promising untold strength.
But he wasn’t alone in this pursuit. He could sense Sariel approaching from behind, her presence a beacon of divine power.
"You’re late," Jeremy said without turning around.
He had more on his mind that he wanted to tell her but he wanted to hear what she had to say for herself first.
Sariel descended from the swirling sky, her wings glowing with an ethereal light that contrasted sharply with the darkness of the Demon World.
It literally lit up the area where they stood as she landed.
Her once pure aura was now tinged with the same energy that coursed through Jeremy, making her appear more formidable than ever.
"I had some unfinished business with a few stragglers, that took some time dealing with," she replied, her tone casual, though her eyes betrayed a hint of unease as they surveyed the fortress.
Jeremy smirked. "No matter. It’s time to finish what we started."
With a nod, Sariel raised her hand, and from the heavens descended an army of angels, their armor gleaming, weapons raised in anticipation.
The first thing he noticed was that the angels weren’t at the same level they were before—they had been transformed, enhanced by Jeremy’s newfound godhood.
They had all been upgraded and their power had grown exponentially.
Their once serene expressions now bore the intensity of warriors ready for battle.
The fortress gates began to creak open, and from within, the first wave of defenders emerged—powerful demon lords, towering and fearsome, wielding ancient weapons forged in the fires of their world.
But even they hesitated as they faced the might of Jeremy and his army.
GOOOOOOOOO!!!
Sariel gave the order, and the angels surged forward, their battle cries echoing across the wasteland.
They clashed with the demons in a spectacular explosion of light and dark, their swords cutting through flesh and bone, their shields deflecting the foul magics hurled at them.
ARGHHHH!!!
GUARKK!!!
Jeremy strode through the chaos, his steps confident, unfazed by the battle raging around him.
After all, the demons died before they could even reach him so he had no need to involve himself in the skirmish; his mind was already set on the prize beyond these walls.
The whispers in his mind were growing louder, more insistent, guiding him to the Demon God’s palace hidden within the fortress.
Sariel stayed close, her power surging as she cut down any who dared approach Jeremy.
The fortress itself seemed to sense the danger Jeremy posed.
The ground trembled beneath his feet, the walls pulsated with dark energy, and the very air grew thicker with malevolence.
Yet none of it deterred him. He pushed forward, his eyes locked on the massive doors that led deeper into the fortress.
As the angels battled the demons outside, Jeremy and Sariel entered the palace. Inside, the atmosphere was even more oppressive, the darkness almost tangible.
The architecture was ancient, built from materials unknown to the human world, and every inch of the palace radiated the overwhelming power of the Demon God.
But Jeremy was no longer intimidated by such things. He had transcended fear, transcended mortality. He was the ruler of this realm now, and he would bend it to his will.
They made their way through the labyrinthine halls, encountering more powerful demons along the way.
But each one was dispatched with ease, either by Jeremy’s overwhelming force or Sariel’s precise strikes.
"Any info you can give me about this guy?" He said, though he wasn’t feeling optimistic her response.
True to his thoughts, she only shrugged in response.
"Not really. I don’t know them."
"Same way you didn’t know Abaddon. Neat."
With the last words, he increased his pace turning his attention away from her.
"How are you feeling so far," She said, guiding the conversation to safer territories as she sensed the change in his mood.
Jeremy turned to her, his eyes now glowing with an otherworldly light. "Great," he replied, his voice filled with a newfound authority. "The real conquest begins after now though."
He turned his gaze to the sky, beyond the walls of the palace, to the worlds that lay beyond.
The universe was vast, filled with countless realms, each one ripe for the taking.
His victory started with defeating the current demon god that sat on the throne.
Finally, they reached the throne room. It was a vast, cavernous space, with a ceiling so high it disappeared into the darkness.
At the far end, upon a throne carved from the bones of countless beings, sat the Demon God—a towering figure of pure malevolence, his eyes glowing with a fiery hatred.
He looked at the intruders surprised that they had made it far.
Save for him, the throne room was empty as all the demons had been deployed outside.
After a while, the Demon god let out a huge roar of laughter that echoed around the hall they stood.
"You dare to challenge me in my own domain?" the Demon God’s voice boomed, shaking the very foundations of the palace.
Jeremy chuckled, his laughter echoing ominously. "I’m not here to challenge you," he said, stepping forward. "I’m here to take your power for my own. It seems to me you don’t realize the position you’re in. Look outside, all your people are dead. You’re the only one left."
The Demon god was boiling with rage at this point. He had sensed the death of his people but had thought it a flux.
He hadn’t expected a human to be as powerful as the one he was looking at. He had no plans of showing weakness to him regardless of his strength.
He rose from his throne, his form shifting and expanding, growing to fill the room with his presence. "Foolish mortal. You have no idea what you’re dealing with."
But Jeremy wasn’t fazed. He extended his hand, and from the shadows of his [Subspace], he summoned his most powerful weapon—a blade forged from the essence of his own divinity, gleaming with a light that seemed to cut through the very fabric of reality.
"I think I know exactly what I’m dealing with."
