Chapter 2204: Sign of divinity
"So the protection that they have is..."
Though I didn’t finish my words, what I was implying was clear.
"That’s right, they have divine energy flowing in them. That’s what determines the purity of a high elf’s bloodline."
It was strange being told this since I had never sensed it before, but it couldn’t be a lie if it was Vivrum that was saying this.
"How did I never sense it before?"
"It’s not something that can be sensed since it’s not as simple as them just being filled with divine energy. This divine energy is infused into them from their very core, which is why it doesn’t leave any traces at all."
Vivrum said this as if she could read my mind, but it wasn’t as if it was hard to guess what I was thinking.
With the expression on my face, anyone would have been able to guess this.
"But that doesn’t explain what happened to my children." I said as I just ignored her explanation.
"Actually, it does." Vivrum even stated this as if she was just stating a fact which made me narrow my eyes to look at her. However, I could see that she was confident when she said this.
It meant that she at least knew what she was talking about.
"It’s because you have too much divine energy."
Once she said that, I was lost again.
After all, I couldn’t understand what she meant if she was just going to say this alone. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
It really felt like there was something missing.
Eventually, Vivrum explained what she meant by this. Only when she did, her expression suddenly changed.
She acted completely different from the normal Vivrum that I was used to.
It seemed like once she got into talking about something she cared about, she lost control of herself. Since she was the Goddess of Life, it seemed like she was quite skilled in creating life and explaining it.
It was almost as if she was some kind of mad scientist.
The gist of her explanation was that my divine energy had affected the children that were born. However, the effects differed because of the divine energy in the mothers.
In Moon’s case, she didn’t have as pure of a bloodline as Aisha.
According to Vivrum, the reason for that was because it had been diluted by her father. It seemed like even though the father was a high elf, he was someone that was destined to lose his bloodline.
The divine energy that Vivrum gave the elves also had another function which was to determine if the high elves were worthy of wielding that divine energy. It wasn’t as if Vivrum would allow them to keep that divine energy if she didn’t feel that they were worthy of keeping it.
So that meant that the father was doomed to give birth to normal elven children.
But because Aisha had returned to origins and inherited divine power that was greater than normal, it had been passed down even though the father was supposed to pass down nothing.
That was why Moon had come out in the state that she was in.
As for Aisha, there was even an explanation for her sudden mutation.
"The divine energy that is taken doesn’t disappear. It will return into the cycle of elves eventually, coming in the form of a mutation."
The return to origin that Aisha underwent...was the divine energy taken returning to the elves...
But back to Moon’s child, they inherited a large amount of divine energy from me.
Because of that, they reached a point where they became a high elf of even greater purity than Aisha.
Only I had to question this...
"Why would my divine energy do something like this?"
"It’s pure divine energy that comes from the mortal realm, it’s naturally purer than my divine energy. Or at least it is in the mortal realm." Vivrum explained without holding back at all.
I was still a bit confused by the explanation that she gave, but there was a part of me that did accept that explanation. Even if there was another part of me that even felt like she was talking out of her...
Putting that aside, I was more curious about Aisha’s child.
"It’s too much divine energy. Simply put, it couldn’t take the divine energy from both sources, so it chose the stronger divine energy which was the divine energy from you."
I looked at Vivrum with another strange look after hearing this.
She just explained it the same way about how my divine energy came from the mortal realm, but it really felt like there was something off about what she said. It simply felt like she was making an excuse at this point...
Still, when she was done, Vivrum said, "That is the reason why your children turned out that way."
"Then the younger one...will anything bad happen to them?"
The one that I was referring to was naturally Aisha’s child who had seemingly been born human.
"How could anything bad happen to them? In fact, they’re lucky that they inherited this power." Vivrum said in an almost mysterious tone of voice that made me even more skeptical.
Only the confident way that she said this did help alleviate some of my fears.
"What kind of power do they have?"
"That’s for you to find out and help them learn to control."
A bitter look appeared on my face after hearing this, but it didn’t seem like either of them were planning to explain at all.
The only thing that I had left to ask was, "Are they still elves?"
"Of course. They were born from elven mothers, so what else could they be if not half elves?" Vivrum said this in a proud voice, as if elves were her children or something.
Though thinking about it, it wasn’t as if this was false.
Strictly speaking, it could be said that the elves were her children since she was the one that created them in the first place.
