Chapter 2203: They’re chosen ones
At this point, it wasn’t a surprise anymore that I was visiting the Holy Empire.
They were so used to seeing me at this point that they were able to form a welcome party as soon as I arrived.
Though judging from the looks on their faces, it didn’t seem like I was welcome.
It seemed like they didn’t want to see me here.
Or it was better to say that they were most likely receiving oracles that were telling them to keep me away.
I didn’t even need to guess to know who these oracles came from, but there was something that I had to ask the gods. Especially since this was a problem that involved my children, which was why I couldn’t just ignore it.
So even if they didn’t want to see me, I had to insist.
Which was why they had no choice but to bring me to the main chapel in the end.
At first, it didn’t seem like I was going to be pulled into the god’s realm.
But in the end, it seemed like they had no choice but to take me in since it didn’t seem like I was going to leave unless I got what I wanted.
It was just that the moment that I was pulled in...
"I’m not here for you."
There was this visible look of shock that appeared on Solista’s face before it was replaced by a look of confusion. It didn’t seem like she could understand what I was here for if I wasn’t here for that.
It was clear that she thought that I wanted the location of the fourth inheritance.
But right now, there was something else that I wanted to do.
"I need to see Vivrum."
Solista looked even more confused, but it wasn’t as if there was anything that she could do to stop me.
After a while, Vivrum appeared.
I knew that this was her since I had also seen her appearance before in the visions that I had been shown.
The moment that she appeared, I asked, "What are the high elves?"
A look of visible shock and confusion appeared on Vivrum’s face as well when she heard this question.
She looked at Solista as if she wanted to know what was going on, but Solista looked at her as if she was saying that she didn’t know either.
The two of them slowly turned back to me with looks on their faces as if they were trying to figure out what I meant by this. However, I just calmly looked at them as I waited for them to respond.
In the end, Vivrum said with a sigh, "I need to know what you mean when you ask this question."
"I’m sure that you’re already aware that my children have been born."
I was surprised to see the surprised looks on their faces when I said this.
The two of them looked at each other for a moment before turning around as if they were doing something. From what I could see, it seemed like they were looking down at something to confirm this.
After a moment of silence, they finally turned around with a much more confident look on their faces.
It seemed like the problem that they had been worried about had finally been solved and they knew what they had to do.
"So it was about this." Vivrum said in a manner that made it seem like she knew everything all along.
"So you didn’t even know about this." I said in a blunt manner.
There was an awkward silence that filled the air when I said this before they said, "It’s much more complicated than this."
At that moment, it really didn’t seem like they were gods.
At that moment, it was almost as if we were talking as equals.
After that moment of silence, Vivrum bluntly explained, "Since it’s related to you, it means that it’s hard for us to observe these things. Because of your divine energy, there’s a natural barrier around these matters. It’s only when we focus that we’re able to see through that natural barrier."
There was a strange look that appeared on my face when I heard this.
If I didn’t know the facts, I might have thought that they were just messing around.
But I knew that my divine energy did have a special effect that stopped these gods from peeking into my mind. If it had the ability to protect my children, then it wasn’t as if it was a bad thing.
At the very least, it would offer some kind of protection if the gods were to scheme against my children in the future. There was no telling what kind of things the future would hold, so it was better to be safe than sorry.
After the explanation, Vivrum directly told me the reason why there were high elves.
"They’re chosen ones."
"Huh?"
Even though she was very direct with her explanation, it was a bit hard for me to understand what she was saying.
Anyone would have found it hard to accept what she was saying since it really was a strange way of putting it. Only the look on her face showed that she had no doubts about this.
It seemed like Vivrum firmly believed what she was saying, which was why I had to ask for a clarification.
"They’re my followers, but they’re also my creation."
This wasn’t that hard to guess since I had already seen the way that the world was created in that vision. I had seen the different races being created by the gods, so it was only natural that the elves would be among them.
It was just that I was caught off guard by what she said next.
"The high elves are the chosen ones that are supposed to protect the rest of them. Since I created them, I think of them as my children. So it isn’t as if I would leave them without any protection at all."
