Chapter 182: Teaming Up

While he was surprised she was able to pick that up, it also birthed another question:

Did he really want to find a safe ground, which was essentially teaming up with her?

He had been thinking of looking for Morgaine and Nova for that, to team up, since he knew them, but then eventually he shrugged it off.

She had helped him once with his End Project Assignment. She was worthy of a chance of doubt at least, and maybe he could make up for that by teaming up.

"So... wanna team up? Though, I have to warn you, there are two more people I’m planning to team up with too."

He said, and her brows creased slightly at that, but then relaxed.

"I’ll team."

She said, and he nodded as they resumed walking together.

White tried to send a notification to Morgaine and Nova to ask where they were, but then he noticed it. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Messages failed to be sent out, like there was no service at all.

That made his brows crease.

"Who are they?"

The call echoed behind him.

"Nova and Morgaine."

He replied.

"Nova... as in Novaelia Limitless, the class representative."

She said, and he nodded.

"Morgaine is..."

"Morgaine Pinkcasio. The Homo Aetherius."

She responded, and White froze.

How did she know Morgaine was a Homo Aetherius?

It took her almost telling him personally before he even recognized her as that.

She walked past him, grabbing his hand all of a sudden before sprinting outward.

"Hey, what are—"

"They’re just over there."

She responded, and White didn’t get it at all.

They took about four detours round buildings, before even climbing up a building to the roof, where White was finally able to yank his hand out.

"They’re not on a roof."

He said, but then she walked to the side, her hand pointing out.

White came closer, and to his surprise, there on the ground, he found them both.

Nova and Morgaine, but then his brows creased.

They were not alone. They were moving with about three more girls, forming a group of five.

"You know it already, right?"

The girl asked him as White hesitated a bit.

"The more people there are together in a group, the more chance of one screwing up and leading a Supernatural creature back to the safe ground."

"At most they should be five in a group. Anymore and it’s too risky."

She said, as White observed them a bit.

[Seems like you’re the only one worried about keeping them safe.]

The system panel flashed before him, and it wasn’t wrong.

Based on how they chatted with the other girls, and their normal visages,

It was clear that they weren’t exactly looking for White, as he was looking for them.

They’d already formed their team.

White wasn’t too worried for them. They were strong enough for the level of creatures around here, and Morgaine was also there with Nova.

’Maybe it’s okay to let them get used to their strengths too. They won’t always have me anyway.’

He thought before he turned back to her.

"You’re right. We’ll keep it just us both then, unless there’s someone else you want to team up with too."

He had wanted to team up with Morgaine and Nova instantly. She must also have someone she was planning to team up with, right?

"One person doesn’t make a team. Two does, and is enough. Let’s keep it us both."

She said, and he nodded.

"So where exactly would make a good safe house?"

White asked, and she pointed upwards.

"A place not too high up for these flying Supernaturals."

She said, and White noticed the bird-like Supernaturals who looked at both of them.

SCREEEECH!

It made a loud screech, its two heads lunging outward at them, but 3 meters away.

RIIIIIIIIIIP!

A massive black wing flashed past as it was split into two, tumbling down to the ground before them.

White’s massive wing shook the blood off before retreating into his back.

"A place low, then."

He said, and she nodded.

On their way, they came across a supermarket, and she branched in.

"We’ll need to eat to survive too."

She said to White, picking up a bag and stuffing it up with food.

It looked like walking into a supermarket and stealing, but that wasn’t true.

When Supernaturals broke into cities like this, civilians were quickly evacuated, and all of this was automatically covered up by the governments.

Ordinary Humans would never be able to sit with thoughts of using something that the Supernaturals had already roamed around in, in fear of poisoning, so all of this would be thrown to the garbage.

Supernatural city swarms usually led to some of the greatest food waste.

Though White didn’t think he would ever starve, he still tried to pick a couple of things.

"No need."

She said as she reappeared behind him.

"I picked enough for two."

She said.

That would usually be heartwarming words, but she didn’t say it smiling, making it quite awkward.

"Thank you."

White replied as they resumed their walk.

It only took a while before she made a pause.

White paused too, looking to the side where she was staring at a building, but the choice of it made his eyebrows quiver.

"A... a bank!?"

He asked, watching her step forward towards the gate.

It was surprisingly one of the places whose gate hadn’t been brought clean off its hinges, yet.

They both stepped through the revolving glass door, which had cracked in, as if something had run through it inside.

"Not only are banks made of materials that are meant to naturally make them strong..."

She began her explanation.

"There are also vault rooms in banks, and the doors are usually made with materials that are made to be able to resist even an awakener breaking in."

She said, and eventually, they arrived before it.

A vault-like door.

White walked toward it, trying to pull, but then—

CRACCCKLE!

Electricity crackled, forcing him to yank his hand back.

"It’s still locked, though."
