SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy
Chapter 183: New System Quests
"There should be a pin..."
She said, bending to the side and tapping on a random area of the wall.
It opened up, and inside, much to White’s shock, was a pin pad.
’They still use this... these days?’
White mused, but still, it was useless. If they didn’t know the correct pin, how were they meant to open it?
As obvious as it was, he couldn’t help but doubt that notion when he noticed the lady’s attention fixated on the keys.
All of a sudden, a lime-green glow began spilling out, illuminating the walls and the buttons, before her hands moved robotically.
TAP
TAP
TAP
TAP
It was a total of exactly four taps, and then White’s jaw dropped.
GRUUUUUUM!
The vault door spun open, and she reached for the handle.
When her hand made contact, there were no electric shocks at all, allowing her to easily pull it open, revealing a dimly lit interior.
She turned back, watching White’s jaw loosely hanging in the air.
He snapped out of it under her stare.
"How... how did you do that?"
"My ability... let’s go in."
She said, and he reined in his shock, stepping in after her.
The door shut and locked behind them, the wall shifting to hide away the button.
The inside of the vault was a medium-sized room, about the size of White’s bedroom. The floor was made of a dark gem-like material he had never seen before.
It was incredibly tough, and the walls were made of the same material, forming a full square enclosure that could absolutely keep anything out.
But what really shook his heart were the rows upon rows of cash stacked in the far corners.
’I’M RICH!’
White whispered in disbelief.
"Snap out of it!"
Her voice cut through, wiping off his dreamy expression.
"While the government helps replace items like those in supermarkets, it doesn’t replace money meant to be kept safe in bank vaults."
"You’d be stealing from the people of the city. It’s already bad enough that they were forced to evacuate when the city was swarmed by Supernaturals. Don’t make it harder by draining their pockets."
She chastised, and it worked, as White turned away from the cash. For some reason, it didn’t seem so appealing anymore.
Though that didn’t mean his unconscious mind wasn’t already imagining a beach vacation, five hot women beside him, feeding him like a baby while giving him a good neck and feet massage.
"This will do just fine. The materials are strong enough. They should be able to hold out even against a Deltadoid Supernatural. So there’s a low chance of any Supernatural creature breaking in."
"It would be hard for them to get through that vault door, too. The electricity door would kill anything that held onto it too long, and no one should be able to figure out the password."
She said, completing.
"We’ll be safe here for the duration of the test."
"I gotta say, you’ve got quite the knack for this... surviving thing."
White noted.
If there was ever a Supernatural outbreak, he’d definitely want to be with someone like her.
She just seemed built for survival.
"Not my first time."
She murmured under her breath, though White still caught it, though he didn’t try to pry.
"Now we can go out and get some points."
White said, turning his back to leave.
He wanted to make sure he had enough points to be eligible for the next Outerschool Mission.
As he walked, the panel flashed.
[New Mission Issued.]
[Clean Up the Leftover Supernatural Creatures in the City.]
[Supernatural Count: 2/509]
White understood where that "two" came from.
It was from the two Supernatural creatures he had already killed upon arrival.
As for the 509, that was either the total number of Supernatural creatures in the area... or the number the system expected him to eliminate.
Still, it was quite a number to rack up in just three days, especially with how limited the remaining Supernaturals likely were.
But the rewards were tempting enough to push him into action.
[Rewards:
+200,000 EXP!
+20 LEVEL UP CARDS!
+10 ABILITY UPGRADE CARDS.]
’With this amount of rewards, I could leave this Outerschool Mission far stronger than I came in.’
"Right."
The lady’s voice echoed out, and both stepped out of the vault, shutting it behind them before leaving.
On getting out—
BOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOM!
White felt the ground shake violently beneath him, followed by rows of buildings being blown into the air, sending ripples that slammed into skyscraper surfaces and blew holes through them.
"What’s with the heavy attacks?"
He mused under his breath, wings appearing as he prepared to take off, but then paused, turning to her.
If this was meant to be teamwork, flying off alone wasn’t exactly it.
"We don’t have to team up to fight. You can go. We just meet back at the vault... with no other person."
She added, turning her back and leaving.
"What’s your name?"
White asked, and she paused before replying.
"Zisel."
She replied curtly before turning into a blur of purple that raced into the distance.
"Zisel..."
White mused under his breath before his wings flapped once, and he soared into the air.
He had barely been there for a second, when the top of a skyscraper came flying directly at his face.
His hands jerked back, punching forward with power.
BOOOOOOM!
The building immediately crumbled to tiny bits, passing by White, who stepped through, avoiding the rubble. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
But then,
VROOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A scorching ball of red smashed into him like a meteor, sending him flying as he crashed through a skyscraper’s glass, spinning a few times before skidding to a stop.
VROOOOOOM!
The building tilted to the side, and White burst out once more, charging forward.
ROOOOOOOOOOAAAAR!
He was just in time to witness a massive creature roaring into the sky, releasing powerful bursts of flames upward.
[Host has come across a Deltadoid Grade Supernatural: Magzilla!]
[New Mission: Takedown Magzilla.]
