Chapter 188: New Entrance

"You know what I mean. Stop fucking around."

The system said, and White grinned.

Of course, he understood.

While the system appeared to be in control, it wasn’t truly in control.

It didn’t generate the quests, nor did it generate the rewards.

In a way, it was like a median, relaying the function of the system to White while also taking White’s orders and having them affect the system.

It was never the real system, though White also called it that for the ease of it.

With the scale removed from his chest, White felt himself getting better quickly, and Zisel returned from watching her hands to lying back on the ground.

There was silence at first as White closed his eyes, regulating his breathing, but then—

CLINK!

CLINK!

The sound of something clinking reached his ears.

He twitched, and White spread out his consciousness toward the source of the sound.

He was able to listen to other, further noises being made, and in doing so, could map out an image.

Three men, dressed in coats with iron buttons, holding metallic briefcases.

His eyes snapped open at once, and he turned to Zisel, who noticed.

"What’s wrong?"

"Some people are coming?"

he said.

"Stray Students? Or wandering Supernals?"

she asked, but White’s eyes furrowed as he listened more, then he shook his head.

"No. These aren’t people that should be here..." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Come..."

He said to her, walking to a darker corner of the hall.

"There’s no need to be ruffled... even if there are people who didn’t get evacuated, we’re still in a vault, remember? It has a pin code."

She said, but all she got in return was the world around White darkening further, hiding him away with his darkness.

"Trust me?"

he asked, reaching his hands out through the shadow, and eventually she succumbed, taking his hands as she was dragged into the shadow.

Activating the Sun Burn Domain was a good way to hide oneself, as it sucked away light.

If he used it at full power, it would form an easily seen ball of darkness, but if he kept it at a minimum, which he was capable of doing, all it did was make him harder to see.

There was silence at first, leaving Zisel wondering just what White was up to.

But then—

BANG!

A banging noise echoed out from the doors of the vault.

White could hear the sound of an object, like a cane, hitting the vault door.

’That won’t open it.’

He thought, but then he heard the sound of one of the briefcases being unlocked and something being brought out.

KNOCK!

There was the clear sound of a hard knock on the walls, showing they’d accessed the pin code kept on the walls.

Then following that were keys being tapped that even Zisel could hear.

"Unless they’ve worked here before, they shouldn’t be able to access it..."

she whispered to White, and in that moment—

TAP!

TAP!

TAP!

TAP!

The sound of four button taps echoed out.

There was silence at first, and then—

GRUUUUUUUM!

The sound of the vault door opening made Zisel’s heart rate quicken.

’The vault door’s security has been compromised.’

She couldn’t see out of the darkness that covered them, but looking up at White, who had his eyes laser-focused outside—

She could tell he could.

His hands were raised, placed on her lips, a sign for her to be quiet, and in the next moment, the words rang out.

"Oh my days..."

It was a masculine voice.

"I’m rich!"

it completed, as a scoff rang through.

"No, you’re not, idiot. The money belongs to the Mayor’s Son. All we’re getting is a measly ten percent... or a bullet through our skull if we dare run away with it, so don’t even welcome the idea."

"Still, ten percent with this amount of money is still an insane amount."

"How much did he say the vault was holding again?"

he asked.

"One hun... dred twenty million Stars!"

the man replied, his words fracturing from the mere recitation of the number, and seeing the mini-mountain of cash in the wall.

"You two shut up and begin stuffing the money into the dimensional briefcase."

"We don’t want any of those annoying Cleanup agents to see us around here."

The third said in a voice that was more husky and deep.

"Yes, Boss."

"By the way, do you see how those agents looked? They looked so..."

"Young?"

The two other men continued to talk.

"Yes. They looked like kids."

"Who knows? The Mayor’s Son only orchestrated the Supernaturals Attack and predicted the arrival of Humanity Ascension Wipeout, and then the cleanup."

"The Cleanup agents being kids must have been Humanity Ascension Chosen. Maybe new soldiers being trained for the job."

"Soldiers... or goody-two-shoes heroes?"

"Hahahaha."

"You two shut up and keep your hands working faster than your slabby mouths. We ain’t got all day here!"

The third man chastised in his thick voice once more.

"Yes, boss!"

They both said.

The boss turned away from them, looking around the vault, and that was when he noticed something.

"You two, halt!"

he shouted, and in the next moment—

CLINK!

CHICK-CHAM!

DING!

The sound of a gun being unloaded rang out, one he had pulled out from his robe.

The other two robed men immediately picked up on that, also jerking out their guns.

White’s eyes narrowed within the darkness.

The speed at which they had drawn out the guns and cocked them—

They were professionals.

The boss treaded forward carefully, his eyes noticing something abnormal on the ground.

There were bags of food and water bottles.

But that was stupid.

Bags of food and chips in the City Bank’s vault!?

He knew who the people who knew the passcode to it were, and they weren’t the type to do such.

His eyes trailed downward, and there he saw water splashed along with blood, still flowing down, revealing—

"Someone’s here!"

he deduced, shifting back as his hands grabbed the gun hard.

"FIRE!"

VROOOOM!
