Chapter 10: Chapter 10—Summoning the Monkey

Laden smiled dryly upon hearing the beast’s words, since he also slightly could not wait.

"I wonder if this guy could beat that flood dragon," Laden thought as he remembered the extremely domineering appearance of the Flood dragon.

"What skill sets does this guy even have?" he wondered.

His situation was totally different from the others since he directly met his summon in the Spirit World, and his summon was a supposedly Primordial beast.

Summoners usually get a full overview of the total skill set of their summons, but Laden’s have got nothing.

"Should I just ask him," Laden wondered.

Knowing the nature of his new summon, Laden knew he was going to get an insult first, but he didn’t mind; he just went for it.

"What abilities do I get upon summoning you and you possessing me?" Laden asked in a voice as gently as he could.

"Why don’t you just find out for yourself?" the monkey replied before appearing beside Laden.

Laden observed the monkey’s appearance to be quite different from what it was in the spirit world. Here it looked completely transparent, as if it were a real spirit only glowing blue faintly. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Here it goes," the monkey said before suddenly flying straight into Laden.

The instant the two bodies made contact and fused, Laden felt a connection on a deeper level. He felt as if their essences were fusing together and becoming one.

And those weren’t the only changes that occurred with laden, some of them were more physical. Tiny blue fur grew on parts of his face, appearing like a weird beard, while some grew on his hands, giving him a domineering look.

About a minute later, he felt all of the changes were done, so he opened his eyes to check himself, and the first thing he noticed was the deep blue fur growing on parts of his hands.

"Oh my God," he said while he moved closer to the mirror in the room where he saw his slightly hairy face and heavily changed physique.

"I have become quite muscular," he said with a smile.

"So tell me, what abilities did you get?" he suddenly heard the monkey urge.

"Ohh, that’s true, I got distracted there" he snapped out of it.

While the two merged, Laden remembered that he got some memories of the abilities, but he wasn’t paying attention to them as he was fully focused on the physical and spiritual changes.

"The first thing I got is just an extremely high stats boost," he said while flexing his muscles.

"The second one is something called ’Absolute Mastery,’ if I am not wrong; some parts of this are heavily obscured, but it seems to give me an almost complete mastery of the most combat techniques."

"Isn’t that crazy?" Laden said in shock.

"And that’s not all; the final one is called Spirit suppression which allows me to slightly suppress weaker spirits," Laden ranted excitedly.

"All right, all right, I know I am a great summoner; now we need to work on staying fused for longer periods of time," the monkey said.

"Longer periods of time?" Laden was just about to ask when he suddenly felt his head grow heavy and everything feel disoriented.

"Yes, before your Spirit Energy runs out," the monkey said while leaving Laden’s body.

The moment he left, all of the changes that occurred to Laden were quickly reversed as he became his normal self again.

"How do I increase my spirit energy then?" Laden asked.

"Don’t ask me if I am a human or a Summoner," the monkey responded in its usual arrogant tone.

Laden just shook his head helplessly before going to rest on his bed.

"I think I need to sleep, but before that, what’s your name? I can’t keep calling you monkey, can I?"

"My name? I can remember; just call me anything you like."

"Hmmm, alright, I will call you Prime then," Laden said with a nod after thinking for a bit.

The Monkey turned around for a bit without saying anything before vanishing to Laden’s nascent space.

With the newly named Prime gone, Laden finally rested properly, and in no time, he quickly fell asleep, but the world inside him didn’t go completely silent.

In an entirely white space, a blue monkey slowly sat on the ground with its mind appearing occupied.

"A human capable of entering the Spirit World and leaving just like that—his Nascent soul was able to accommodate me, and even his essence fused so cleanly when we merged."

"There’s something special about this kid."

"Hmph, I guess he should be able to help this primordial one return deal with those guys," he said as he looked at the extremely faint monkey sigil currently on the floating core.

From that night, Laden and Prime discussed more and slowly grew more accustomed to each other. While Laden went from School home and back to school again.

Any free time he had between those times was spent trying to lengthen their fusion time and increase Laden’s Spirit energy through a process called Accustomization

Laden learned in school that to accustom oneself to a Spirit beast, the Summoner needed to interact with it for a while. Continuously merge until they are able to sustain themselves for an indefinite amount of time.

But Prime scraped all of that knowledge and informed Laden that acclimatization was specific to each beast; that is, there isn’t a direct method for it.

"If I may ask then, what do you think will help in your acclimatization?" Laden asked.

He watched the smile on Prime’s face suddenly morph into a dangerous one as he muttered one line.

"Battle."

Time flew in a zip, and in no time, it was the day for the Laden’s scheduled Duel against Maxwell.

"This is it, Prime; today we are about to have our very first battle together," Laden said excitedly.

"I can’t wait to kick that snake’s ass," Prime said excitedly.

The duo spent the day filled with excitement and anxiety as they anticipated the battle they were about to fight, and in the blink of an eye, it was time for the battle.

"Your bully is about to get what’s coming to him," Laden said softly while touching his chest as he stood up to head to the P.E. room.
