Chapter 11: Chapter 11—Duel

Laden moved under the escorting gaze of his classmates, who knew what was about to go down, some of them even following him.

"A Non-summoner vs A powerful summoner"—the news spread like wildfire, and in no time, the P.E. The room was mostly filled with people.

Upon arriving at the room, Laden could already see Maxwell standing extremely relaxed in the makeshift ring.

"Ohhh, the star of the event is here; now all we have to do is wait for the officiating teacher," he said with a sinister smile.

"Is that the one we are beating up?" Prime suddenly spoke into Laden’s mind.

"Yes, that’s him." Laden nodded slightly.

Since he didn’t really have any friends in his school right now, Laden didn’t have anyone to cheer for him, so he only moved silently until he arrived at the ring.

In the ring, Maxwell still maintained his lax expression as he stood opposite Laden, staring him dead in the eye.

"I will make sure it’s as painful as possible." Laden noticed Maxwell said upon reading his lips. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Those words immediately triggered Laden, who immediately felt ready to jump on his opponent right there and then, but before he could do anything, they suddenly heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

"Miss Dally is here," Maxwell said gently while he looked towards the entrance.

"So her name’s Dally," Laden thought as he realized he hadn’t actually gotten her name since they met, and it seemed the previous owner of the body didn’t know either.

"She is so mysterious," Laden thought to himself.

"Now isn’t the time to think about Women dummy, we have a battle in front of us," Laden suddenly heard Prime’s voice snapping him out of his thoughts.

While Laden was distracted, Miss Dally had already arrived in the ring and was staring at the two of them in the eye.

"No fatal or irreparable damage allowed; that’s the only rule of summoner duels," Miss Dally said while she left the ring.

"I hope you are ready for this low life," Maxwell said as a large green translucent figure took shape beside him before quickly merging with him.

It was Laden’s first time seeing someone else’s appearance change after merging, so he observed it with full interest. He watched as small scales appeared on Maxwell’s hands and face while a small horn sprouted on his head.

"I guess it is time for me too," Laden said, resulting in everyone showing a shocked expression. They watched as a blue monkey-like beast appeared beside Laden before quickly merging into him.

"Is that a freaking monkey?" One of Maxwell’s lackeys suddenly shouted.

"It doesn’t even seem to have any Elemental powers."

"Where did he get such a trashy summon?"

Words like this reverberated across the P.E. room as they all watched blue fur grow on various areas of Laden’s body.

"Are you ready for prime time?" Laden asked.

"Let’s teach these idiots not to talk down on my esteemed self," it replied.

Miss Dally, who was off to the side, didn’t show any expression; she just raised her hand, signifying the start of the battle.

The moment the battle began, Maxwell rushed forward in a bid to catch Laden off guard.

But oddly enough, Laden managed to stay calm as he analyzed his opponent’s approach.

"Why do his movements appear so wacky?" Laden muttered as he watched.

"Have you forgotten the second Ability; Absolute Mastery?" Prime said proudly.

Laden’s eyes widened a bit before a smile took over after he understood what Prime said.

Without wasting a single moment, Laden pushed off the stage as hard as he could, sending his charge straight at Maxwell like a missile.

Since the ring was so small, Laden instantly arrived in front of his opponent and threw a punch with form so impeccable it made Miss Dally’s eyes widen a bit.

Seeing the punch approaching him with such speed, Maxwell quickly smiled as the large water ball coalesced in his hands and headed straight for Laden’s gut.

Noticing his opponent’s counter, Laden quickly withdrew his punch, and with insane control over his spine, he dodged the water ball.

Laden hadn’t completely regained himself when he noticed two more water jets heading straight at him from opposite directions.

"How did he get so proficient in such a short amount of time?" Laden wondered.

"Don’t fear those tiny waterspouts; you can take them head-on," Prime urged.

He knew his summon couldn’t intentionally sabotage him, so Laden believed him and proceeded to ignore the water jets.

Instead, he sprang off the ground again to close the distance between him and Maxwell.

The water jets arrived in the middle of his charge, and the two made a clean impact.

Just as Prime had said, Laden felt the impact, but it wasn’t enough to cause any damage.

Instead, he arrived in front of his enemy silently before sending out a sweeping kick followed by a punch aimed at the gut.

Maxwell managed to block the two attacks, but it was obvious that Laden had the upper hand.

Without letting up momentum, Laden sent out attack after attack aimed at specific points that would neutralize his opponent instantly.

Due to the special nature of his summon, Maxwell was about to hold it, but it was obvious that he could barely do that as beads of sweat rolled off his head.

All the surrounding students watched the battle with their mouths agape, as they hadn’t expected such a turn of events.

"Damn, this low-life is suppressing me; it is because I haven’t gotten accustomed to my summoning enough," Maxwell thought defiantly.

"I need to regain some of my prestige," he thought while a sly smile appeared on his face.

Laden also noticed the sudden smile and quickly pulled backward to create some distance from his opponent.

Just when Laden landed back on the ground, an extremely loud roar suddenly came out of Maxwell’s mouth, destabilizing everything.

Laden could even feel himself almost leave the merged state.

"Did he just use some sort of Suppression ability?" Prime spoke out in rage.

"Two can play that game; show him Laden," he shouted.

"Spirit Suppression," Laden gently called out as his spirit energy was drained extremely quickly.

Laden himself could feel a terrifying pressure emanate from him; it was so ancient and terrifying he immediately almost fell.

"Stoopppppp," he suddenly heard Miss Dally shout, making him freeze in confusion.

"What’s going on?"
