SSS-Class Summoner: I only Summon Primordial Spirits
Chapter 18—First Return
Laden moved as fast as he could, ignoring the two clashing beasts behind him, but he was able to run too far when their spirit Energy was finally exhausted and they were forced to separate.
"Don’t stop; continue using your weak human legs to run." Prime urged.
After running for a bit more, Laden finally slowed down as he stopped hearing the sound of battle and clashing beasts.
"I should be able to rest now," he said happily.
He looked around him to see if there was anything he could rest on, and he quickly sighted a tree stump and instantly approached it.
The instant he sat down, Laden immediately felt intense pain shoot from his legs and his shoulders to his brain.
It must have been the adrenaline surging through his body while he ran, but Laden couldn’t feel any pain, but now that he finally relaxed, the pain came flooding.
"Those dogs dare hurt this Primordial one, and it’s all because of such a weak collaborator," Prime said disdainfully.
"You are hurt too?" "Laden?" asked with widened eyes.
"Obviously, when Summoner and Spirits merge they basically share a body," Prime retorted angrily.
"Why are you always so angry?" Laden couldn’t help but ask.
"Tsk," Prime made out but didn’t respond.
With that, the two of them remained quiet. Laden quietly took care of his wounds.
He hadn’t been paying attention to him all of the times he was in the Spirit World, but there was always a simple piece of clothing on him.
"I wonder where they come from," he said before tearing off sleeves to clean and wrap his wounds.
As a veterinary doctor in his previous life, Laden knew all that he needed to dress a wound, so he was able to do it very cleanly and efficiently.
"Prime, would you like me to take care of your wound for you?" Laden pitched.
"Do you think a Primordial Spirit is as weak as you humans?" it was said arrogantly while appearing in front of Laden.
The reason it appeared was immediately obvious, as Laden could see the wounds on its body healing slowly but noticeably.
"That must be nice; it would be devastating news for Vet doctors back home if they heard about this," he said with a dry smile.
Though he wasn’t too keen on showing it, it was obvious that Laden missed home. He did so quite heavily at that, so he tried clinging on to things from back there whenever he got the chance.
After appearing outside to brag, Prime shockingly didn’t return into the Nascent Space immediately; instead, it stayed outside just sitting beside Laden.
"What do you think we should do now, Prime? Should we go back to check on those beasts?" Laden pitched.
"Are you dumb or something, do you think those guys will finish so fast, and even if they are done, I don’t recommend ever going back there," Prime lectured.
"Let’s just stay here for now or even return to the real world if that’s possible without dying," he said.
"I guess we can try then," Laden muttered while Prime vanished into the Nascent Space.
He sat down cross-legged and used his mind to try interacting with the dark tattoo on his shoulder.
Laden was shocked to actually receive a response as he felt the spot getting warmer and warmer and inching toward becoming hot.
"Oh my God, it is actually working," he said excitedly.
While he felt his chest grow hotter, Laden also felt himself grow more light-headed, as if he were floating.
"Now this is -" Laden was about to say when he felt him suddenly plunge down with so much force he felt as if he were being drawn thin into a line.
"Daaaàammnnnnn," he shouted, but the feeling didn’t last long; a few seconds later he could feel he had arrived back in the real world.
"I am back, so I can actually return without dying," he said with a smile.
"We also didn’t lose any Spirit Energy," Prime said with a smile.
"Then we should try our best not to die again, huh?" Laden replied.
He and Laden exchanged a few more words before he decided to go to bed.
"We resume the training tomorrow," he said expectantly.
The next day came quietly, and as Laden had planned, immediately after he had breakfast with his parents, he came straight back to his room.
"Accustomization is really the way to get stronger faster, uhhh," he said meaningfully.
"But we can’t get opportunities like that all the time, so we need to keep doing this too."
From morning to that evening, Laden spent the whole of it merging with Prime and training his combat techniques in an unending cycle.
When Night came, Laden was so exhausted that after dragging his tired body to have dinner and returning to his room, he immediately lay on the bed and fell asleep.
The next morning was a school day, and after being woken up by his mom’s incessant shouts, he stood up and got ready to head to school.
Before leaving, Laden checked his whole body in the mirror as confusion appeared on his face.
"Am I getting more muscular?" he wondered.
He could notice his uniform that was previously made for his extra lean body has now grown much tighter than it was before, which brought about that speculation.
"It would be great if I actually were," he muttered before leaving his room to head to the school.
As usual, his journey to the School was as peaceful and gentle as it always was, but the same couldn’t be said for his experience inside the school.
The moment he stepped foot into the school, everyone’s eyes turned to him. Their eyes were filled with myriad emotions.
Some felt excitement, while some felt frustrated, and finally, there were others that felt nothing.
"He was the one that beat Maxwell," Laden even heard one student gossiping to the other.
But instead of responding or showing any sort of reaction to their words, Laden just kept quiet and moved to class, and after about five minutes, Miss Dally walked in.
"Today we will be discussing Summoner ranks and the difference in summoner ranks," she shouted.
"Haaaa, I can’t wait," Laden thought excitedly.
