SSS-Class Summoner: I only Summon Primordial Spirits
Chapter 17—High-Speed Chase
Silence reigned in Laden’s surroundings and also inside his mind as he was just about to ask prime when he heard him speak.
"How ignorant can one actually be?" Prime said with a sigh.
"That was Accustomization,"
Laden’s eyes widened in bewilderment as he heard Prime’s words.
"Accustomization, uh huh? So now you and I are now closer, and we can stay together for longer," Laden said with a smile.
"I can faintly remember that’s not all about acclimatization, but I can’t remember anything more, so we have to believe that for now," Prime said.
"Tsk Primordial Spirit indeed, more like Senile Spirit," Laden muttered frustratedly.
"Hey who are you talking to that way?" Prime retorted angrily.
Just as they were about to start a weird banter, Laden suddenly felt his scalp tingle.
Hoooooooooowwwwwllllllll!
An extremely loud howl rang out, shaking the environment so much Laden could even feel his organs shake.
He looked around him hurriedly, hoping to find the source of the hole, but he couldn’t see anything.
"What do we do, Prime?" Laden asked fearfully.
"You are asking me, weren’t you the one snapping necks a few minutes ago?" Prime responded.
"But if you really want me to tell you, I will only say one word."
"Run."
Laden was instantly triggered by Prime’s instructions; he didn’t hesitate he used all of the power he had in his fur-covered legs to push off the ground with crazy speed.
He flew out like a bullet as he ran across the bare ground to get away from that location as fast as possible. After he got a little bit further, Laden finally looked behind him to see what was chasing him, and what he saw almost made him faint in shock.
Laden’s previous location was an extremely large Corrupted Wolf beast; if he wasn’t mistaken, the beast was almost five times the size of the others.
"Could that be the Alpha, it must have been hiding in the shadows giving them instructions earlier," Laden analyzed.
While Laden was busy with his analysis, the Wolf leader had started closing the distance between them very quickly.
It was moving so fast that it became a blur in Laden’s eyes.
"Stop paying attention to it and try getting away as fast as possible," Prime instructed.
Laden didn’t even have the strength to retort; he just moved as fast as he could, hoping to get away as fast as he could.
But as the chase went on, the more Laden realized how hopeless his situation actually was.
There was almost no way he would outrun the Wolf leaders as the gap between them had shrunk by a lot to the extent that Laden could even feel their presence heavily.
"Duck," Prime suddenly shouted.
Laden didn’t hesitate at all; instead, he went further off the hip while still trying to maintain his speed, and it was at that moment that Laden felt some heat coming from behind it.
A fireball moved past his head and hit the ground not too far away from Laden.
"Thanks, Prime," Laden said as if it weren’t for Prime’s early warnings, he would have been hit, and that spelled the end.
"I can’t die now; the increase in Spirit Energy we just got mustn’t be lost," Laden said with gritted teeth.
"The increase we just got is what is keeping us alive now, or else we would have left the merged state, and that’s the end."
"But we can’t keep up like this; spirit energy is running out, we need to do something."
"I agree, but what exactly are we supposed to do?" Laden asked.
"Follow my lead then," Prime said in a serious voice.
"Turn left," he instructed.
Laden didn’t hesitate at all; instead, he followed Prime’s instruction and turned left while continuing his run.
After running for a bit more, the space between them had closed up even more and the Corrupted Wolf-leader had spat out more Fireballs.
"Turn right," Prime instructed again.
Again, Laden also didn’t hesitate; instead, he did just as he was told and ran towards the left.
"Uhmm, Prime, I don’t think this is creating a distance between us. If anything, it is getting even shorter," Laden finally said after a bit of running.
"That was never the plan," he heard Prime say.
"And I can faintly feel a powerful presence in front of us," Laden said again.
"And that’s exactly the plan," Prime responded.
If it was at that moment that Laden finally realized what Prime had been planning, he wanted us to use a powerful Spirit beast to fight a Powerful Corrupted Beast.
Seeing the viability of the plan, Laden now sped up to the limit of what his body could take.
"We have about thirty more seconds," Prime muttered, giving Laden more pressure.
"I think we should be close enough now; make as much noise and chaos as possible," Prime instructed.
Laden also looked at the cave in the distance and the Corrupted beast behind him before a smile formed on his face.
Using all the power he had, Laden punched the ground with so much force that it created a crater and also a loud noise, but he did stop there.
He continued doing that while he ran until, at some point, he finally achieved what he aimed at.
Roooooarrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
A loud roar came out from the cave up ahead, accompanied by a charging noise.
"It’s coming," Prime said with a strange excitement.
"Now it’s time to leave things to the big guys," he said.
Laden watched as an extremely large tiger-like spirit ran out of the cave.
"Tigers are very territorial, especially when they feel threatened. This is perfect," he said with a smile.
"Now turn already; the stage is set," Prime urged.
Laden didn’t waste time; he just turned sharply and began heading in another direction, hoping to leave the two beasts behind. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
The Corrupted Wolf beast seemed to have realized Laden’s plan and was about to chase after him when the large tiger-like spirit beast blocked its path.
And with that, a battle between two hegemons started.
