SSS-Class Summoner: I only Summon Primordial Spirits
Chapter 2—Strange Tattoo
After the world went completely dark, Laden had no idea how much time had passed, but he slowly felt his consciousness awakening.
"Ohh damn, that was painful," Laden suddenly shouted out as he felt a piercing pain from his stomach area, where the bunny had bitten.
He was only able to feel the pain now when he was already regaining consciousness. After a bit more, the pain slowly faded, followed by Laden regaining full consciousness.
But this time he felt different from how he felt the previous time; he formerly felt like he was in some sort of fake physical body earlier, but now it felt real.
He opened his eyes to check where he was exactly and was shocked to find himself in what looked to be a room as he noticed the ceiling above his head.
"I have left the spirit world," he muttered. "But now where am I?" he questioned as he slowly got on his feet.
Just as his feet were about to touch the ground, Laden suddenly felt like his head was about to split apart as a large amount of foreign information flooded in.
He held his head tight, his teeth clenched tightly, and his memories seemed split into two different ones, one that belonged to him and another one that was completely foreign.
On one side were Laden’s own personal memories, and on the other side were the foreign memories. Laden didn’t rush to do anything, though; he lay on the bed gently, waiting for the pain to completely disappear.
"Getting hit with two such sharp pains just after waking up isn’t a good sign, is it?" Laden said after the pain completely vanished.
He didn’t attempt to stand anymore like he did earlier; instead, he closed his eyes and tried focusing on the new memories that had just flooded his mind.
He actually learned what to do from some of the web novels he used to read while he was still in Vet school and that was exactly why he hadn’t freaked out so much.
With his eyes closed, Laden felt the foreign memories in his mind slowly merge with his current memories as he slowly got a scope of what was going on.
Realizing that he had actually transmigrated, Laden couldn’t help but think about his family back on Earth. He thought about his mom and how she would be right now and immediately made a solemn decision.
"If I get a chance, I will surely return home," he murmured.
"This world is called Proto, and it is extremely different from the earth I know."
"Proto is dominated by people referred to as summoners; they are extremely powerful people that usually fight abilities granted by their summoned Spirit Beasts,"
"Or at least that was what the previous owner of this body knew about the world,"
Laden tried his best to calm down and digest other parts of the boy’s memories before he did anything else. After he was digesting most of the boy’s memories, a question suddenly popped up in Laden’s mind.
"What happened to the original owner of this body?" he wondered.
"Don’t tell me that woman killed him just to send me here," his eyes widened as the realization of that possibility dawned on him.
"She better not have done that," he said as his blazing anger welled up in him.
Laden slowly calmed down as he thought about it well; he realized that though it was a possibility, it was highly unlikely.
Without thinking too much, he stood up on his feet and approached the full-body mirror that was hanging not too far from the bed.
He looked at the mirror, at the soft sheen of his slightly glossy dark hair under the illumination of the moon.
"Though this person doesn’t look exactly like me when I was younger, there’s quite a lot of resemblance, and he is also Laden."
"You aren’t forgotten, and your worries are now my worries." Laden closed his eyes as some sort of final respect.
After observing his face, Laden’s eyes slowly moved to his body, most especially his chest, which resulted in his eyes widening in shock.
He was currently bare-chested, so he could see a tattoo on the left side of his chest, producing a very faint, almost unnoticeable sheen.
"What is this?" he wondered as he raised his hand to feel it.
The spot felt extremely warm to the touch, a sign that it was just recently active or something similar to that.
Laden wasn’t dumb, so he had already had an idea of what the tattoo was and what it actually does.
"I think this is my way of entering the spirit world," he said as he returned to sit on the bed, ready to test his hypothesis.
"But how do I activate it?" he wondered.
Having no way to particularly interact with the mark, Laden tried connecting to it with his mind and was shocked to receive a response.
Laden felt something inside his body reach out towards a particular location he couldn’t discern, but before he could actually settle into the feeling, it suddenly vanished.
"What’s wrong, why didn’t I go to the spirit world and why didn’t anything happen?" he wondered.
Realizing that it was probably because he just arrived from the Spirit World, Laden didn’t stress and just decided to sleep.
After an unknown amount of time had passed, the sun had risen from the horizon, and its rays were peeking through the window into the room. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"Laaaayyydeeen, get up you must not be late to school today," a loud shout came from somewhere downstairs.
Laden was quickly snapped awake by the shout, and the next thing the voice said shocked him greatly.
"You know you mustn’t be late for the summoning ceremony."
"Summoning Ceremony? Isn’t that what the voice said will cause great chaos?" Laden suddenly realized as his eyes widened.
"It is today," his mind racing to the possibilities and all that could go wrong today.
