SSS-Class Summoner: I only Summon Primordial Spirits
Chapter 3—Summoning Ceremony
Realizing that tonight was bound to be a much more active day, Laden quickly rushed up from his bed. From the memories he received from the former owner of the body, he knew what he was supposed to do.
Without wasting time, he quickly got ready and moved downstairs to meet his parents, who were peacefully eating breakfast; they always made sure that things were always calm and peaceful, and the previous laden had also seemed to have picked up that attribute.
"I wonder how the young man died. If it’s possible, I will actually try to find out," Laden thought to himself while he walked.
Looking at the two middle-aged people that were sitting across from him, Laden didn’t know what to do or say, so he just kept quiet, and since this wasn’t an unprecedented event, no alarms were raised.
"I will be going now mom," Laden managed to say in a slightly stiff tone before rushing out of the entrance.
Outside the building, Laden looked at the surrounding areas and was shocked to see that it looked almost exactly like earth. They were on almost the same technological level, and people even dressed the same.
Trying his best not to attract unnecessary attention, Laden immediately dropped his head low and began heading to the high school, getting the direction from his memories.
The journey to the high school didn’t take that long, and about thirty minutes later, a woman walked into the class with extremely confident steps.
She was dressed in a grey formal suit and long black stockings that accentuated her thighs. Laden couldn’t help but admire her beauty as he watched her walk.
"As you all may know, today is your ceremony with which you will summon your first Spirit beasts."
"But before you go over to the hall, the school has instructed us teachers to give you all the information about what you are about to get into."
"Firstly, people who have been able to successfully make a contract with a single spirit beast are the ones called Summoners," she said.
"But don’t you wonder what makes Summoners capable of making contact with spirit beasts?" she asked.
"That specific thing is called a Nascent Core, and it’s present deep in every human consciousness. And since it ties so closely with consciousness, you all should know if you will be affected by your sense of self."
"That is, some people have fire attributed to Nascent Core, allowing them to contract Fire attributed Spirit beast while some people might not have any specific focus, but that is something almost impossible," she concluded.
"Now that you have gotten an idea of what Summoners and Nascent Cores are, is there anyone that would like to ask a question?"
Laden scanned through the room to see if anyone was about to ask a question, and unsurprisingly someone actually raised their hands to do that.
The hand immediately caught the woman’s attention as she pointed to him, giving him permission to proceed with his question.
"Uhmmm, I would just like to know how Summoners actually fought; do they combat with Spirit beasts?" he asked.
While the others listened to his question, they also nodded as if also confused about how things actually worked.
"Spirit Beasts directly battling are only for high-level Summoners; for low- and mid-level Summoners, the Summoner must get possessed by the beast, which grants some physical modification and abilities."
Upon hearing the teacher’s response to the question asked by his classmate, Laden nodded and was just about to raise his hands to ask a question of his own, but he quickly decided against it and just kept quiet.
"I don’t think she will know about the chaos caused by the Summoning ceremony," he cautioned himself. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Since there are no more questions, you all should form a single file and follow me to the ceremony hall.
The students did just how they were told, forming a single file and marching behind her towards the hall.
When they arrived at the hall, Laden could see other students from other classes already waiting in the room, various expressions appearing on their faces.
While some looked confident, most looked scared and nervous, but Laden himself remained neutral as if he couldn’t be bothered by the result of what was to come.
It seems they were the last class to arrive, as the instant they arrived, the students were immediately instructed to find a specific spot to sit.
In front of each seat was a gleaming white ball that seemed different from the things of the mundane world.
Seeing the student settled, a very mature man walked to the front of the crowd before saying in a loud voice.
"In front of each of you is a Summoning Crystal that allows you to make a connection with a spirit beast before a contract since humans have absolutely no way of entering the Spirit World for now."
When he heard the man’s words, Laden didn’t really show any expression except for the soft smile that tugged his lips.
"So when I tell you to, you will place your palm on the crystal and close your eyes while you are calm so a connection can be formed."
"And finally, let me warn you, each connection made only has a short period of time; don’t be too picky and choose as fast as you can, or you won’t be getting anything."
"With all that you may begin," the man said before leaving the stage.
Having gotten the go-ahead, the students quickly placed their palms on the summoning crystal, and Laden followed suit, doing the same.
The instant his palm touched the ball, instead of feeling any connection, he felt the specific spot on his left chest suddenly heat up.
"I won’t be heading to the spirit world right now, will I?" he suddenly thought in fear.
"Why head to the spirit world now when you can do that later," he suddenly heard the familiar voice in his mind, resulting in his fingers tensing up and spine straightening instantly.
