SSS-Class Summoner: I only Summon Primordial Spirits
Chapter 5—Scheduled Duel
Laden’s words still reverberated across the whole hall as everyone turned to look at him in shock, all except the woman.
"Are you sure?" She asked again.
But instead of backing down, Laden only nodded gently before saying,
"Yes, I am, but I won’t be fighting right now. I need some time to prepare; let’s make it in two days’ time," he said with a sly smile.
From his expression, it was obvious Laden didn’t just choose the date spontaneously; there seemed to be an underlying reason for doing so.
"Alright then it is settled; we will meet in the P.E. room in two days’ time," she said before turning around to leave.
The student watched the teacher leave with nothing to say; they could only turn back to look at Laden, who also seemed like he was ready to leave.
"Two days, uhh lowlife; make sure you take care of yourself before then," Maxwell said before also turning to leave.
Laden didn’t even respond; he just started taking steady steps towards the exit of the summoning hall, ready to get back to class.
While he walked, he didn’t mind the looks and soft chatters he got from classmates who thought he was crazy for attempting such a thing.
The instant he got out of the hall, Laden immediately moved to the side and let out a soft sigh of relief.
"I don’t know what came over me, but it seems like you were the one that wanted this to be done," Laden muttered as he grabbed his chest.
"Since you want it to be done, then I will make sure I don’t fail or disappoint you, and we only have two days."
"He has already gotten a summon, which was a seemingly powerful flood dragon, and I still haven’t gotten mine, but I must beat him in two days’ time."
"I absolutely must get my summons tonight," he said with a fiery gaze while he continued walking.
Since the others were still feeling excited from the successful contract, most still stayed behind in the summoning hall, and the school also seemed to have given them the opportunity to do so.
For that reason, Laden was the first to get to class, and he just quietly went to his seat, ready to have some time to himself where he could actually straighten his thoughts and prepare himself.
"Right now, I have to think about my next few days," he muttered to himself.
From that instance on, Laden didn’t move and didn’t say anything; he just sat there and stared blankly. One by one the class was slowly being filled by students, and in no time it was time for another class.
This time, it wasn’t the woman that came into the class; instead, it was a domineering-looking buff man that seemed to command respect with every step.
"Good Afternoon Class,"
"I know you all are extremely excited about just getting your Summons, so today’s class is going to be short and swift."
"So you can head home."
Upon hearing the man’s words, the class grew especially happy, as bright smiles could be seen on everyone’s face, and even Laden felt a sense of excitement.
"Today, we will be briefly talking about the world’s geography since now that you all are Summoners, you would be required to head out to hunt Evil beast,"
"Evil beasts?" Laden wondered.
"If you move towards the outskirts, you guys will notice the large walls that surround this place."
"Those are called the Terminal walls that surround the terminals," the man said in a straight tone.
"So instead of being divided into cities, this place is divided into terminals that are surrounded by the wilderness."
"Now that makes it even more dangerous," Laden muttered.
From that moment on, the teacher spent a bit more time telling the students about world geography before deciding to leave.
"That will be all today; you all can return home," the teacher finally said as he left the class.
Like compressed springs, the students sprung out of their seats, all heading back home or to have fun with their new Summons.
Laden, on the other hand, kept his head low as he packed his things and decided to head home without drawing any attention, but things didn’t go as he planned because the moment he got out of the school gate, he suddenly heard a voice behind him.
"Hey, low-life, crawling back to that damn bird nest already," Laden heard someone shout from behind him.
Even without turning around, Laden already knew who was talking.
"Maxwell," he muttered.
He didn’t bother turning around or even stopping; he just moved to the normal place he used to.
A few meters behind him, Maxwell’s face reddened again as he watched Laden ignore him like that, but a sly smile suddenly formed on his face.
"Let’s see if you can ignore this," he said with a sinister smile.
A disturbance occurred just beside him as a translucent figure began taking shape.
"This should teach you not to be arrogant," he said as he was just about to attack Laden.
"You really want to end up in jail, uhh," Maxwell suddenly heard from behind him. He quickly turned around to see that earlier woman standing there looking at him condescendingly.
Beads of sweat formed on his head as he cancelled his summons before rushing off, leaving the woman staring at Laden’s receding back.
"Something’s unusual about that kid," she muttered before turning around to leave.
Completely oblivious to what just happened behind him, Laden just kept walking, and about thirty minutes later, he arrived home.
Laden got home to find out his parents weren’t home, so he just moved straight to his room.
"I will be heading to the Spirit World tonight; I better prepare myself and be in the best state possible," he said.
He then proceeded to lie on his bed hoping to fall asleep, and in no time, he fell asleep completely.
Time went by quickly, and only when the sun had completely crossed the horizon did Laden snap awake.
"It’s nighttime already; I guess it is time," Laden muttered before trying to activate the tattoo on his chest.
