Chapter 13: Evolution

Ouch~

"Do it nicely, at least."

"Sit straight, instead of moving your mouth."

Emi and I were sitting together while the grandma was accompanying the grandpa. She was applying some kind of healing paste on my face, given by my grandma. I do highly doubt her medical choice. But this was a part of the formality before I could sleep without getting disturbed by them.

And that monkey was someone they got to know a month ago. He had been coming quite often here to eat bananas and oranges, and became a local here.

"These nail marks didn’t look like going to fade away soon," Emi said. After all, she clearly understood how valuable my looks are, and these scratches weren’t something that could be ignored, even if there was no infection.

"If you are done, then leave. I need some sleep now." I don’t want to talk about anything with her. But these marks would definitely stay for a long while. If I remember correctly, a few years ago, Emi had done the same, and at that time, those marks lasted for almost a month or two. This time, these marks were even deeper.

After she left the room, I finally got a moment of silence, in which I could finally check out that evolution point.

[Evolve: Yes/No]

I looked at the shiny screen with a heart full of excitement. I have a lot of expectations for this evolution. I don’t know how it will turn out, but I have to try it and see what kind of changes it might bring.

I began the evolution and clenched my fist, strongly preparing myself for the sudden pain.

A few seconds later, the pain I was preparing for didn’t come. But I was able to feel the increasing strength in my body. I didn’t need to think about it for a while as the system prompt quickly appeared in front of my eyes.

[Congratulations, Host, on stepping into the ranks]

Rank: Primary

Grade: Awakened

Physique: 11/30

Skill: Regeneration (Passive)

Description: The host body can heal much faster and could even regenerate its severed parts. As long as the host isn’t dead, the recovery process depends on the wound and the host’s energy level.

"Well, not bad..." This wasn’t something that I was expecting, but it isn’t bad. It is still too early for me to hope for Phoenix or dragon bloodline.

Looking at my new upgraded status panel, I noticed a small change.

Host: Ricky Watson

Species: Human

Rank: Primary

Grade: Awakened

Skill: Regeneration (Passive)

Talent: Hellfire, Eyes of Void, Summon, Cursed

Physique: 11/30

Mana: 1000/1000

Pervert Points: 510

Forbidden Points: 5

Storage: +1 (Tier 3 Dungeon Key)

Now my status panel was looking full, and the thing that I was confused about was the sudden increase in my Mana. There was also another tiny change; in the past, my talent used to show level 1 on them. Now it was also gone.

Thinking for a while, I shut off the system and lay flat on my bed to catch up on my sleep.

...

"Huh, what time is it?" I woke refreshed with all pain leaving my body. As I checked the phone, it was 8:12 pm. I have slept for almost 12 hours.

At this moment, I remembered one important thing and quickly turned on the front camera of my phone, checking my face. Indeed, all marks had vanished like they never existed, the passive skill Regeneration working really well. I admired my own handsome face for a bit before going into the kitchen to grab something.

What I saw in the kitchen made me doubt my eyes. I stood there frozen in one spot, rubbing my eyes to confirm what I was seeing wasn’t a dream. That spoiled brat was chopping vegetables in the kitchen.

She was wearing an apron with a tiny panda head on it. As she was carefully chopping the lettuce. Her hands were sluggish, as she barely kept her fingers safe.

"You are awake..." She said, noticing me standing there like a statue, but she didn’t complete her sentence, as she walked up to me, her eyes squinting while looking at my face.

"Weren’t your face scratched by that monkey?" She asked, her finger reaching for my face.

I slapped her hand away and replied, "Grandma’s medicine worked pretty well, I think. Hasn’t your swollen face also gotten normal?"

I was giving the grandma’s trash medicine some credit, just for the sake of the love she put in making that disgusting medicinal paste. It had nothing to do with me wanting to avoid telling anyone about my powers.

"Really, her medicine was that effective..." She squinted her eyes, unable to believe it. But there was no other explanation her little head could come up with, so she had to buy whatever I said.

"Are you making dinner today?" I asked, curiously. She and the kitchen are hard to put together for me. She couldn’t even make a coffee or tea. Let alone the entire dinner.

"I’m done making half; the other half is on you." As if she were just waiting for me to ask, she instantly threw her apron at me and ran out of the kitchen. I knew that she was just being nice to Grandma. Well, it wasn’t the first time; she had always been performative to everyone, except me.

When she left, I decided to check what she had made. She did make a lot of dishes, an unevenly chopped vegetable salad, without any seasoning, and she also cooked water in rice.

I sighed and began making a meal with my very average cooking skills. But my skills can be considered top-notch if compared with Emi and Grandma. No one would believe how bad a cook my grandma is, but at least her food is edible, but I highly doubt Emi’s cooking skills.

Once I was done cooking, four of us had the meal together, not quite right, five of us, that monkey was also joining our dinner.

After the meal, it was time to sleep. And I gotta share my room with Emi, because other options were either to share it with Grandma or Grandpa. Obviously, compared to them, she was the better option to share a bed with and was easy to kick out.
