Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance
Chapter 120: Darkwing Clan
Stanley ran forward without a single word as speaking in this situation would only slow him down.
He moved a step to the right and then to the left as another two shots of the plasma gun went firing past him.
Illan swung his sword, forcing Stanley to stop. He moved a step back and then stepped up front as he punched Illan in the stomach.
The giant Illan grunted in pain as Stanley’s punch hurt him quite a bit. Stanley pushed Illan to the side and jumped to the other side while holding his plasma sword as he swung at Gallan.
Gallan fell back at the last moment, dodging the attack by accident. Stanley’s sword cut through the air and nothing else.
He saw Illan grab him by the leg and lifted his leg before running toward the mayor who was already up.
He arrived right next to the mayor and swung to cut through him. This was the man that had killed his brother, the one that was going to be using his body for himself.
Stanley felt absolutely no remorse at the thought of him dying and was more than happy to do so.
As he swung his sword, Yasu spoke up.
"Stop!"
Something happened again. Stanley could tell.
But before he could figure it out, Yasu moved and kicked him in the stomach. Stanley flung to the wall and struck its wall.
"Ahh! That’s more like it," Yasu started speaking.
"Aaargh!" the mayor cried out in pain. "No, no!"
Stanley quickly got back up, but before he could attack, Sheila spoke up. "They changed body!" she shouted. "They’re not the same person anymore."
Stanley paused and looked at them.
The old man was crying on the ground in pain, while the young man was smiling wide, happy with his new life.
Then... did he have to kill Yasu now? No, it wasn’t Yasu anymore.
"You’ll still die!" Stanley shouted and charged for the mayor that was in Yasu’s body now. Just as he arrived in front of him, however, Yasu spoke once again.
"Stop!"
The Mayor moved blazingly fast as he punched Stanley in the cheeks, sending him flying in the other direction.
"Gallan, make him stop," the mayor ordered.
Gallan shook his head. "He broke free. I cannot stop him for quite a while now," the young man said.
"Toss the gun," the mayor said and took the gun that was tossed at him. He pointed the gun in Stanley’s direction and pulled the trigger.
Stanley saw three glowing red bullets flying in the direction that would shoot at him.
The mayor pulled the trigger twice, sending two bullets. As for the third one, he didn’t shoot immediately. "Stop!" he shouted once more.
Stanley felt the weird phenomenon again, but he didn’t know what it served at all. He easily dodged the 3rd bullet that came afterward.
"Tsk! So it doesn’t work like that, huh?" the mayor said.
Stanley was a little confused. Wasn’t that Yasu’s powers? How was the mayor using Yasu’s powers? Did he take over the power when he took over the body?
Stanley was about to move when the Mayor suddenly pointed the gun at Freddy.
"You may be free here, but your friend isn’t," the mayor said. "Take one step from there and I will blow his brains out."
Stanley frowned, angry at the mayor. "I will kill you," he shouted.
The mayor laughed at that response. "Hahaha! Is that all you’ve got? Kill me?" he asked. "You should have done that when you could. Now that I am in this new body, you have no chance."
Stanley grunted, wondering what he could do. He looked around, thinking of something quickly before he sent Illan toward him.
The mayor moved his head around, jumped a little, and felt his fist. "Wow, I forgot how great it was to be young once again. It keeps surprising me every time I do it," the mayor said.
"Every time?" Sheila asked from the side. She stood still, as ordered, but she could still ask questions.
"Oh yes," the mayor said. "I have been doing this ever since my sister and I created this little place. Someone had to help her keep this place in check, or with her personality this place would have been gone in just the first few years."
"It is not possible to do this with just 2 people, to hide information on such a scale that everything is forgotten just 150 years later. How did you achieve that?" she asked.
The mayor looked at her weirdly. "Do you have some recording device on you? Doesn’t look like it. Fine, I’ll tell you," he said. "Ever heard of the Darkwing clan?"
Sheila’s eyes narrowed for a moment as her mind wandered through her knowledge to find the information she was looking for.
"Darkwing clan... it was a cult created by the first man to devise plans for widescale empowerment of Novas," Sheila said. "It was what began the problems of farms and Nova terrorism in the first place. What about it?"
The man smiled. "I, along with my sister formed the Darkwing Clan," he said. "The first few people that we brought here included members of the Darkwing cult. Along with a few abducted orphanages, we easily started this town in order to help my sister grow strong."
Sheila’s eyes widened as more information popped up in her head.
This was something she had learned a long time ago when she first joined the Triple-A. She had learned about Novas, their history, and how they affected the world.
One of the important bits of information was that the brother-sister dual leaders of the Darkwing Clan had been the first to spread the idea of putting humans in an isolated space they called a farm, where they could be killed to empower the Nova around them.
That group had one day suddenly disappeared, and many had believed the Nova there to be the cause.
However, if what the mayor was saying was true, then they had in fact been relocated here.
"That means..." Sheila looked at the man. "You are Wren Darkwing. And that makes your sister, the Nova, Raven Darkwing."
