Chapter 123: Evolved

Gallan was sent flying, his gun free from his hand as it flew toward Sheila.

Sheila stopped it with her feet, while with her own gun, she shot the mayor that had run into the room. She shot him a few times, mostly trying to hit non-lethal parts of his body.

She managed to hit a few pieces of equipment in the room, but the mayor had already jumped on the other side of the bed. He walked out suddenly and she shot him again, only to find out he was carrying old man Sam, who had gone into the room to hide at some point.

Multiple bullets went into the man, killing him instantly.

"Shit!" Sheila shouted when she realized that she killed the old man. She had already learned that the old man wasn’t here on his own. He was hypnotized to be here, and yet she had killed him.

Her heart sank a bit when learning that, but she steeled it again. She couldn’t afford to feel bad about anything right now.

The yellow barrier appeared again, deflecting 2 more of the shots that she tried to aim at the mayor.

Sheila pulled the trigger a few more times, but the charge in that gun had already ended. She threw the gun to the side and picked up the other gun. She looked at the charge in it and frowned.

It only had 3 more bullets at best.

Stanley arrived next to her while keeping an eye on the massive Illan who wasn’t moving. He had been ordered to stay and keep an eye on him, so that was what he was doing at the moment.

He looked at the barrier that had already come out and slammed his fist on it. "Come out, you bastard!" he shouted.

He then quickly turned toward Sheila. "Why didn’t you go in?" he asked.

Sheila glared at him before moving her eyes away. "I didn’t want to be locked in with him. He’s very powerful and I’m lacking my normal tools," she said.

Stanley frowned. "Why didn’t you kill him when you had the chance?" he shouted at her in anger after seeing him go back into the room to hide from him.

"Stop telling me what I should’ve done," she snapped back. "I did what I felt I had to. You wouldn’t understand."

Stanley frowned. He looked down at the Gallan that was completely knocked out at the moment. At the same time, the weird feeling inside of him settled down a bit.

’What’s going on?’ he thought to himself. ’Is my power getting better?’

The world seemed to shift around him while at the same time remaining perfectly still. Stanley shook his head, getting his vision back to normal.

"Illan, stop standing there and kill them."

"Hmm!" Illan finally moved, taking his sword as he attacked the two standing.

"Go check on Freddy," Stanley said and turned toward Illan.

He saw Illan attack him with his sword, while at the same time seeing him walking toward him. Something was definitely different with his powers.

It was almost as if the power he had awakened hadn’t fully awakened before, and was only doing so now.

He waited for Illan to actually swing the sword before dodging at the last second. He punched and hit Illan in the fingers, forcing him to let go of the sword in pain.

Illan stepped back in pain. Stanley saw a kick coming at him before Illan even tried to kick him. At the same time, he saw himself kicking Illan too.

Illan attacked about 2 seconds later, kicking him as he foresaw.

Stanley kicked back as well, hitting the giant child in the shin, forcing him to fall down upon him. He stood there and grabbed Illan by his clothes before hoisting him up.

The mayor was very much surprised to see Stanley pick up the giant Illan so easily.

Illan tried to flail around, to try and grab Stanley or to kick him. But before he could achieve anything, Stanley tossed him into the wall next to him with such force that the building shook.

Illan slammed on the wall and fell on top of Gallan, completely unconscious.

Stanley took a deep breath. This was definitely a strong power than just the visions he was having earlier. What was going on?

The mayor looked in shock. "I underestimated you," he said before he walked away from the door, searching for whatever he could find to use as a weapon.

Unfortunately, the only thing he could find was a sword in the room that had come along with Bradley. It was in his pile of clothes to the side, while his dead body had already fallen over somewhere beyond the table.

"This should be fine," he said as he jumped on the table and watched. "Let’s just wait around, why don’t we? My sister should be here any minute"

Stanley picked up his sword and frowned as he got back up. He looked at the golden wall that was in front of him before turning around.

"How is he doing?" he asked Sheila.

"I’m fine," Freddy said.

"He’s fine," Sheila nodded. "A big chuck on his ear is gone, but that’s not all that bad."

"Alright," Stanley said. "What do I do now? How do I destroy this wall?"

"You cannot destroy that wall," Sheila said with a frown. "It’s nigh impregnable."

"Nigh? So, there is a way?" Stanley asked.

Sheila hesitated. "It’s impossible most likely, but there is a way. The shield actually flickers about 100 times in a single second. If you can sneak something through during one of the flickers, you can get inside, but again, that’s impossible."

Stanley frowned for a moment wondering what he could do. As if to answer his question, he felt something once again.

His power of foresight had evolved somehow. ’What’s going on?’ he couldn’t actually understand, but he knew what his power was.

"Give me the gun," he said, knowing what he could do now. "Let me try something."
