Chapter 127: Interference

"Can... can you can stop time too?" the mayor asked Stanley with a look that couldn’t believe it at all.

"What?" Stanley couldn’t help but ask in surprise. ’Stop time? Me?’ Stanley didn’t even understand what stopping time meant. How could one stop something like time?

"You bastard!" the mayor stepped back and shouted as he pointed at him. "You lied on the census. You said you have strength enhancement when in fact you had the power to stop time!"

Stanley frowned slightly when he heard that. He knew what his power was. It was the power of the Foresight. Or... at least that was what his body told him.

But then again, when did his body ever tell him what his powers were before today? It was only after fighting the Crawlers that he even figured out that his power was Future Sight.

And even then... that did not explain his strong body, which due to old man Sam’s ropes had become clear was part of his power too. And now he was being accused of having the power to stop time.

Now that he thought about it... didn’t he also have the power to slow down time? That was how he had managed to shoot the mayor past the flickering golden wall.

Even if that wasn’t stopping time at all, he had the power to slow down time for sure. And given that he was getting more and more aware of what happened when the mayor used Yasu’s powers, Stanley started to believe that it was all becoming true.

He had most likely not awakened it, but he surely had the power to stop time as well.

The mayor went for him in his distracted state, trying to stab him in the throat. Stanley got a danger warning, a future vision of him getting stabbed in the throat in his distraction.

His eyes focused and he simply moved enough to the left so that he dodged the sword entirely. At the same time, he thrust the sword at the mayor’s right arm.

The mayor pulled back at the last second and dodged the sword that came for his throat. While the sword still grazed it slightly in the end, the yellow shield around him protected him from getting cut.

Stanley frowned. The shield was annoying.

If not for the shield, the mayor would’ve been wounded multiple times already. He could probably attack the mayor if he wanted to, but his speed needed to be fast. Given that his sword could never move anywhere close to the speed of a gun, he could do nothing right now.

The mayor attacked back recklessly while also dodging when he could. Their fight soon grew to be at a standstill with none getting the better of the other.

The mayor was invincible with the shield, and Stanley was untouchable with his future sight. Neither of the two could get the better of the other, so the only way the fight could go anywhere was with outside interference. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

The mayor swung his sword again, aiming for Stanley’s wrist. Stanley pulled his arm back and went in for another attack.

However, before he could do so, he saw something in his future vision. He jumped back to give some way as Sheila appeared out of nowhere with a hot, glowing sword in her arm.

She swung the short sword as the glowing plasma struck the mayor’s shoulder. With her left hand, she dropped something.

The plasma sword gave off intense heat around the mayor’s shoulder, but it could not penetrate the yellow shield.

The mayor was about to swing his sword, but at the last moment, Sheila jumped back, moving toward Stanley.

Stanley saw a bright white light in the future while Sheila closed her eyes and fell to the ground to avoid it.

Stanley thought of hiding from the light as well. He turned around and closed his eyes as something flashed around him.

Sheila had dropped a flash grenade the moment she had come in and blinded the mayor. She didn’t think she would need to warn Stanley and she was right. He had protected himself.

"I’ll distract him," she said and left something behind as she ran back toward the mayor.

She then started attacking the mayor with her plasma sword while the mayor couldn’t fight back at all. He was blinded and he couldn’t tell where the attacks were coming from.

He fought back, trying to hit Sheila, but Sheila was a trained individual who wouldn’t be hit by someone blind.

"Bitch!" the mayor shouted while swinging his arms around. He felt the attacks on his body and tried to follow them, but it wasn’t working. Fortunately, the shield still protected him.

However, they would only last as long as their power lasted, and with him being constantly attacked, it might be depleting faster than he could think.

The mayor panicked again. Neither was he able to fight back nor was his sister coming to help him. What was she not coming?

A glimpse of light became visible after a few seconds as the vision slowly returned to him.

It started off with a vague silhouette of the girl that was attacking him. The mayor tried to dodge, but the vision still wasn’t clear. He was struck a few different times, but he also managed to dodge a few times.

The vision became much clearer 10 seconds later when he could somewhat tell what the girl was doing. He saw the red, glowing slowing coming toward his face and ducked.

At the same time, he spoke up. "Stop!"

The time froze again, along with everything but the mayor’s consciousness. His body struggled to move as if he was shifting through thick quicksand to get anything done.

The time stopped for about 5 seconds in total at a time, which he used to move his right arm up.

When the time returned to normal, his arm zipped up at an inhuman speed as he grabbed Sheila’s arm.

Sheila tried to pull back, but the mayor’s grip was too strong.

She had been caught.
