Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance
Chapter 132: To The Cave
Stanley sprinted down the stairs and saw Sheila and Freddy making their way toward him as well.
"What’s going on?" Sheila asked, worried seeing him run out so quickly.
Stanley gulped when he saw them. "We... we have no chance," he said in a scared voice. "The-the Crawlers... there are hundreds of them. And they are destroying everything and everyone on their way to the top."
Sheila’s eyes widened in horror when she heard the numbers. "Hun-hundreds?" he asked as her breathing got abnormal.
"I saw it, from the top," Stanley said. "It’s horrifying."
"My parents, my sister," Freddy spoke. "We need to go save them."
Stanly grabbed Freddy before he ran away. He had calmed down by now, so he needed his friends to calm down as well.
"Listen to me," Stanley said. "You can’t go, Freddy." As much as he knew how much it hurt knowing one’s family was dying, he couldn’t help himself from stopping Freddy from searching for his family.
After all, it was obvious to him that after not finding them in the mansion, there was little chance of finding them in the group. Besides, Stanley couldn’t let his friend knowingly jump into certain death.
"I need to go find my family," Freddy said, trying to pull his arm.
"And do what?" Stanley asked.
"And save them," Freddy said.
"How?" Stanley asked.
"By... by..." he stopped. He couldn’t tell what he was supposed to say. There was no way to save them at all. He started panicking, not knowing what to do. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"We can still save them," Sheila said, catching both of their attention. "We need to go to the cave and find a way to open that door."
"Oh... yes," Stanley said. "That way we can save everyone."
"Can we open the door?" Freddy asked. "Should I search and bring my parents."
"First let’s try and see if we can open it," she said. "It would be all for naught if we search for them with what little time we have and then realize we can’t open them.
"You’re right, we need to leave now," Stanley said.
"Everyone!" Sheila shouted. "There is a cave behind the mansion. The cave can lead you outside. Come with us if you want to live."
She started running away after saying that with the two others following her. Stanley looked back, realizing that while many had heard the, not many moved.
Some tried to stop them for some reason, but the group of youths was not something those people could stop at all.
They went around the mansion and arrived on the side to go to the back when they stopped in front of something so terrible that it nearly made them all vomit.
Thousands of dead body parts littered on the ground, painting the previously empty green backyard into the sight of hundreds of killed. As many were squished or sent flying far away, there wasn’t a single whole body.
Sheila’s breathing got up and down as she started toward the waterfall, knowing what was coming.
The nova in the black dress and black hair with black eyes as well.
Raven.
Stanley slowly walked in front of them as he thought that they were stunned a bit seeing so many dead people. Stanley had seen his own fair share of dead people in the warehouse attack 10 days ago, or the crawler attack today.
While not immune to the shock and surprise as well as fear, he still moved through the corpses, making his way toward the cave to show let Sheila and Freddy continue behind them.
As they got close to the pond, Sheila grabbed Stanley’s arm, stopping him. "Don’t!" she said. "That girl might be in there."
Stanley paused for a moment. He turned around. "You mean..."
Realizing that Sheila meant the person that was the reason why his brother had died, Stanley got angry. He looked toward the cave, unable to stop himself from acting.
He moved the normal sword to his left hand and took the long sword from Freddy’s arm.
"What are you doing?" Sheila said. "Stop, you’ll die."
He didn’t listen to Sheila and tried to move but she still held onto him, trying to pull him back.
Stanley finally stopped and looked back to speak. "I can’t stop," he said.
"If I or any of us stop here, there will be nowhere to go in just 5 minutes from now. We need to fight our way through here, even if it means the last thing that we do."
"We cannot die a peaceful death," he said. "Waiting for the embrace of death to take us is not the way. If we’re going to die, it’s going to be fighting for our life."
"If this girl named Raven is there, then I will find her no matter what and fight her. I might die doing so, but I’m ready for it."
"So, just stay back and see what happens. If I don’t make it out in time, have the others help you find a way."
With that, he jumped into the water and ran toward the waterfall. He was nearly waist-deep in the water, and yet somehow he had managed to run through it to get to the other side that was so very close to him.
His future sight had already activated, giving him a vision of the future at every instance. It had shut down when he didn’t feel he needed it and came back to being useful when his body needed it.
It was quite a fun experience for sure.
He arrived by the waterfall when suddenly he saw the waterfall smash open from the inside of the cave. He stepped back at the last moment as a black limb sprayed water throughout the air.
Through the waterfall came out the large body of the Crawler that slowly crawled itself out of the cave and fully showed itself.
Stanley frowned when he saw that. He had expected to meet the strong girl. Instead, he only saw a crawler.
