Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance
Chapter 133: Crawlers
Stanley got ready with his sword, getting ready to fight the crawler that had appeared. The crawler slowly approached him as well.
"So she isn’t here, huh?" he asked the crawler as it got close to him.
Stanley hesitated and got ready to fight, his future sight blaring at all times. He was about to make the first move when the waterfall exploded.
Another Crawler walked out from the cave.
"What the fuck?" Stanley couldn’t help but shout out in surprise.
He didn’t even have the time to get surprised when the first Crawler started its attack.
The Crawler’s attacks were always the same. It would attack with any of the 3 arms that it wasn’t resting by.
Stanley moved a little to the side and swung his two swords toward the Crawler’s limb. The Crawler basically cut itself against Stanley’s swords as its limbs were cut in two different sections.
Stanley saw that and was a little surprised. "How did it...?" he was a little confused as well. He hadn’t noticed much difference from just earlier today when he fought the Crawlers and right now, but back then he wasn’t capable of cutting the limbs of the Crawlers, but now it was.
Now, he could cut through the limb cleanly, causing damage that wasn’t little at all.
His powers activated again, showing him being attacked by another limb of the same beast, so he moved aside and attacked it again.
The Crawler cut itself against Stanley’s sword again.
Once again, the Crawler had its limb cut off in two chunks and had to take some time to regenerate it.
At the same time, the 2nd Crawler had arrived next to the first one and had started fighting against him as well. The number of Crawler limbs grew to 6, so things got a little hard for Stanley.
He had to dodge and attack all 6 limbs at the same time, and it was dangerous. However, thanks to his powers, Stanley could fight the two.
Freddy stood far away watched in shock. "Is that... really brother Stanley?" he asked in surprise. He hadn’t expected Stanley to be this good when it came to battle.
He weaved in and out of the Crawler’s underbelly as he played around them. Next, it would be time to fight them directly by standing on their head.
However, at the last second, he saw the waterfall bulge out and something run out from it. It arrived in front of the two other Crawlers and paused for a second. Just when Stanley thought everything was figured out, a third crawler added up.
"What the hell?" he couldn’t help but shout when he saw the third crawler walk out.
The danger of the Crawlers increased exponentially when there was more than one that a person had to fight at the same time. With 3, the danger was unimaginable.
And they were right in front of Stanley.
"Shouldn’t we help?" Freddy said in surprise. "Stanley will get killed."
Sheila shook her head. "I can’t help, obviously," she said. "Can you help?"
Freddy hesitated. He wasn’t a good fighter either, so all he could do was flail around a sword without knowing how to use it. "I will go call the others," he said.
"They won’t listen," Sheila said without turning back. "I already called them here and they ignored me. If I’m not wrong, then they should have been here before and seen the people getting massacred. There was nowhere to run, but the Crawlers aren’t chasing them so they were fine. But they absolutely don’t want to return."
"Forcing everyone to run away?" Freddy was a little surprised. "Isn’t it meant to follow around? To kill everyone that it came across?"
"It normally used to be," Sheila said. "But Its orders are a little different this time around. Its master doesn’t want that to happen."
Freddy tried to ask something when a giant limb came flying from the side of the corner of their eyes. He jumped out of the way, ready to fight, but there was nothing there to fight.
The fallen body part disappeared on its own into a thick plume of dark smoke.
Freddy looked up and saw Stanley standing on top of one of the Crawlers which led both him and Sheila to be fully surprised by the sudden turn of events.
"What is he doing?" Sheila couldn’t help but ask. "Is he fighting like that?"
"I... I don’t know." Freddy said. He was equally as surprised as Sheila, and he had never heard of someone doing that.
Stanley’s mind was a jangled mess of foresight information that flew in from everywhere. He turned and fought the Crawler’s limb or dodged it each time, but slowly it was getting overwhelming.
3 was way more than he could handle on his own. While there was a possibility that he could win, there was also a possibility that he could make a single mistake that would kill him. After all, the information his mind was receiving was quite overwhelming after all.
He couldn’t stop, however. If he did, the Crawlers would most likely just go for the others which he couldn’t let happen. So, no matter what, he couldn’t stop.
As the willingness to continue fighting grew in his heart, he also felt himself unlock something inside of him at the same time.
Something that he was aware he had before, but now he knew for a fact as his next set of powers had awakened somehow.
The power to slow down time itself.
Stanley needed no activation ritual. With a single thought, he activated his power and suddenly time seemed to stop to a crawl.
He saw the limbs that came at him stop momentarily. They were still moving, but it was at such a sluggish rate, that he couldn’t even be scared of them. He wasted no time waiting for them to attack him.
Stanley jumped while in slowed time, which gave him quite a burst of speed that he used to reach for one of the Crawlers’ limbs. He cut a bit of it and then slid down to start cutting everyone.
With his power to slow down time, he would no longer have to worry about the Crawlers touching him while he fought them all. He could fight all
