Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts
Chapter 1690: New Vassal
As they had originally planned, Koraxa led Nathan to the other fortress. The leader didn’t seem to agree at first, but Koraxa managed to persuade him.
Nathan didn’t blame them for not believing it, considering they didn’t want to have hope only to see it disappear.
Fortunately, the man agreed, so they performed the same miracles. After the feast, Nathan formed the portal to make people believe that they really could reach Erendtall. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
People from Koraxa’s fortress were quite shocked that so many people suddenly entered their fortress, but it also confirmed Nathan’s ability.
At the very least, people felt a bit more assured. Koraxa announced that they should take a rest first before heading to another continent the next day.
Since Nathan had shown his ability, they complied completely. They didn’t want to cause trouble, just to lose this chance.
Once they had finished their preparations, Nathan led them to the edge of their continent.
Nathan activated the teleportation circle. Evelyn noticed the power from the other side, so she activated the teleportation circle as well, creating portals that linked the two continents.
Had Nathan brought someone else, he wouldn’t be able to save all these people.
People were quite surprised because Erendtall was still dark. The cloud was still covering the sky, unlike what their leaders claimed.
However, Evelyn stood in front of everyone. As one would expect from the most beautiful woman in Gratzel, she took everyone’s breath away.
Using her beauty to get attention, she managed to silence them so she could speak.
"Congratulations on reaching Gratzel. We’re still in alien territory, so we will need one more portal to get you to safety. Please be patient."
There were no aliens around, but that was simply because Evelyn had taken down the nearby aliens.
Once everyone arrived at Erendtall, Evelyn opened the portal that would bring them to where they would stay in the future.
The moment they exited the last portal, people started crying as they fell to their knees.
They could finally see the sun. They missed it so much. Their skin could finally feel the warmth they had been longing for.
"This..."
"We’re able to live like this again?"
"It’s not a lie..."
They started cheering, thinking they could finally live like proper humans again.
"Hello, everyone. I’m..." An old man appeared in front of them. There was one more person besides him. It looked like they were the envoys from the dynasty and the empire.
"Evelyn. This place is..." Nathan was surprised because he finally saw familiar scenery.
Koraxa and the other leader followed Nathan, wondering what Nathan wanted to say.
Evelyn nodded. "This is the place where we defeated the Godfather. The dynasty and the empire couldn’t decide where they should let them live, but this place used to be under the jurisdiction of both the empire and the dynasty, so they might as well give it to them."
"How about the city? There’s nothing here."
"You don’t have to worry about that." Regina’s voice echoed in his ears.
Nathan glanced to the left, seeing Regina walk toward them. "Regina."
Regina smiled. "I was surprised when I first heard it, but the empire and the dynasty had agreed to share the jurisdiction and turn this place into an autonomous region. We would let them govern themselves.
"In addition, we would provide food supplies and materials to build their new home. If necessary, we would provide some artisans.
"In exchange, we will work together with them to get the special power and strengthen our defense. If we work together, there’s a chance to discover a new power or new knowledge that can help us fight the aliens. I think everyone will win.
"The dynasty and the empire will also create the first embassy here to test the system you’re talking about. If they want to be naturalized, we will do it there.
"In any case, I believe this is the best solution. They will be treated as a new colony rather than refugees."
Nathan first conveyed everything that Regina said to Koraxa.
Koraxa thought for a moment before agreeing. It was reasonable to pay such a price. At the very least, their people could live comfortably. They provided tents and land to create new houses, so Koraxa had no complaints.
The other leader agreed with Koraxa, so it was clear that they would accept the new system.
"It looks like language will be an issue," muttered Nathan.
"Not exactly. We have a record of their language. Unfortunately, you don’t give us too much time to prepare, so we haven’t found the person who can translate for us. Still, there should be people who have learned their languages both in the empire and in the dynasty. Don’t forget that our people used to trade with them. We just never went to Qion and Gratzel in the past."
Nathan chuckled. "In that case, can I finally pass this matter to you? I still need to go elsewhere, you see."
"Sure. I can handle the problem here. It will take some time to get the translator, but we should manage." Regina nodded.
Nathan felt glad that the situation had been resolved. They needed to go back to Myrall to find where the other arrow led.
However, Koraxa whispered to his friend. His friend looked worried and asked him if he was sure.
Koraxa had gathered his resolve, so he gave a firm nod to his friend and let him be in charge of the new colony.
After he had given his goodbye, Koraxa walked to Nathan and dropped to one knee.
"I am Koraxa Exaveria. I would like to pledge my loyalty to you, my lord."
"!!!" Evelyn and Regina were dumbfounded. They didn’t hear anything about this. Vivian was there to tell them about it.
Nathan, on the other hand, smiled wryly. They had agreed to this arrangement before, but Nathan wanted to confirm it one more time. "Are you sure you want to do this, Koraxa?"
"Yes, my lord. As long as you don’t throw me away, I’m willing to serve you for the rest of my life."
Regina couldn’t believe what she had just seen. Koraxa looked as if he were stronger than her. Yet, this strong man actually wanted to become Nathan’s vassal.
Nathan smiled. "Very well. I accept you."
