Chapter 2251: Chapter 2315: Intruder

"Calling me ’husband’... doesn’t sound right at all!" the Saintess said, pouting.

"Oh? Is your butt itchy? Do you need a spanking for opposing this title?" Li Yifei replied.

"It is itchy, so come hit me then. If you can appear in front of me right now, I’ll let you hehehe..." The Saintess was persuaded by Li Yifei, her mood improved, and her words flowed again.

Hehehe? What hehehe? Li Yifei asked.

"Haven’t you heard a famous joke from your country’s singer? He said if you catch up with me, I’ll let you hehehe..." the Saintess replied.

What’s that joke? Li Yifei couldn’t grasp the humor in the phrase, so he didn’t really understand it.

It wasn’t until much later that Li Yifei understood what the joke was. Now, he filled in the hehehe part mentally and replied, "Yanzi, if you say that, give me half an hour, and I’ll be by your bedside!"

"Or you could take a bath now, make yourself quiet and fragrant, and when you come out, you’ll see me in your bed."

The Saintess read the continuous messages and wanted to roll her eyes. She was pondering, if she really agreed, whether Li Yifei would actually appear by her bedside in half an hour. Given Li Yifei’s character, he might truly do it. So the Saintess replied, "Alright, no more joking, I’m going to tidy up and prepare to rest!"

"Alright, go ahead, I’m not going over tonight. But if anything happens on your side, let me know anytime!" Li Yifei said.

"I will, don’t worry!"

Li Yifei ate a barbecue alone and finished reading the information he had collected. There’s not much circulated outside about the Holy War Organization’s ten elders, but some details leak out. Combined with the data he specifically asked Murong Yuanqing for, the old master’s information was more detailed, including even some elders’ appearance pictures.

Looking at this data, Li Yifei could glean some insights. It seems that there are Huaxia spies within the Holy War Organization, ones possibly at a high level. Conversely, there are likely similar spies in Huaxia.

From Andisto to the last Oisi, Li Yifei focused on Babua. There was considerable information on him. After reading, Li Yifei felt a bit uneasy. He was suspicious of Babua; indeed, there was ample evidence against him. But if his plan to kill was so easily exposed, it appeared too clumsy. After all, tracing the source of the drone would directly link back to Babua. The simplicity of it all bred many doubts.

Or perhaps, Babua thought the Saintess would surely die, considering the missile’s destructive potential, small as it may be. But afterward... with the Saintess returning, why was Babua not only unfazed but also adamant in pushing the Saintess out of office? This was another layer of irrationality. Seeing the Saintess survive, he should either panic or try again to kill her. Only her death would prevent escalation...

Thinking of this, Li Yifei suddenly paused, sensing danger. He muttered to himself, "If there’s someone else behind it all, how will they act? Babua has all the evidence but hasn’t been killed. Living means possibilities... Dead men tell no tales, but living people have many possibilities, which means... if Babua isn’t the culprit, who is?"

Li Yifei immediately took out his phone and sent a message to the Saintess, warning, "Yanzi, be careful these days. If Babua is the assassin, fine, but if someone else is behind it, they may attempt again. Stay alert!"

"I will. My wounds are mostly healed now, so don’t worry too much!"

"Still, be cautious. Although I’m nearby, if something happens, it’s a blink of an eye, and I can’t get there in time," Li Yifei said.

Just finished freshening up, the Saintess came out drying her hair. Seeing the message, she smiled and said, "Alright, I’ll get a gun and keep it by my side just in case."

"That’s good. Also, don’t trust others easily; I feel this is not simple!" Li Yifei said.

The Saintess couldn’t help but smile now. Here were two top-level protectors, also assassination masters, worrying and nagging out of concern for each other.

"Alright, get some rest. Don’t worry too much on my end, and it’s better to resolve this quickly, so you can hurry home. Seems like not much time is left!" The Saintess knew about Su Lio’s situation. They had already delayed for ten days. If Li Yifei couldn’t go soon, it would be problematic for Su Lio.

This is something to thank the Mohist War Sword for. After recognizing its master, it adjusted Su Lio’s constitution, only needing her to suppress the cold every half-month. Previously, she had to suppress it weekly, making it a pressing matter for Li Yifei.

It’s a pity Su Lio can’t cultivate, otherwise with the Mohist War Sword, she might gradually improve her constitution, slowly extending the time between outbreaks of cold aura. This would mean moving in a positive direction for her. The cold within her could flare up anytime, endangering her life. The better her body, the more it could endure the cold.

Putting aside the matter with Su Lio, Li Yifei tidied up his things, returned to the car, turned on the CD player, and listened to music while chatting with his wives at home to inquire about their recent situation. Having spent the past three or four months together, the family didn’t feel too much reluctance, merely reminding Li Yifei that in a few months, Xu Yingying would give birth, urging him to resolve those thorny issues quickly and return home to be with Xu Yingying.

Xu Yingying, on the other hand, did not rush him. During their conversation, Xu Yingying just shared some amusing anecdotes from home with him, making Li Yifei laugh heartily.

In the middle of the night, Li Yifei suddenly heard some noises. He opened his eyes, his ears slightly moving, realizing the footsteps were light—not belonging to a beast. Li Yifei could even hear the other person’s subtle breathing and heartbeat; someone was approaching, and they seemed quite skilled!

Li Yifei immediately came to this conclusion, so he sat up from the bed, looking outside. In the darkness, he saw a figure stealthily approaching, running to the car door. The car door was locked, and Li Yifei clearly heard the sound of the other person pulling the door. However, the door was locked, making it impossible for them to pull it open.

The door remained shut, but the person did not give up. Li Yifei watched as they moved to the window. He chuckled lightly and leaned back a little, watching a hand reach up to the car window, followed by a loud crash. The window shattered, and a figure flipped inside from outside, landing in the car cabin. The intruder’s movements were not particularly agile; he even bumped into the table with a loud bang. Nonetheless, the person ignored this, rushing into the car; in just one or two seconds, he pushed off the ground, leaping forward like a frog, heading towards the bedroom in the darkness—only to find no one on the bed in the rear bedroom.

No one? His heart skipped a beat, suddenly sensing a surge of intense danger approaching. He quickly turned around, seeing a figure, arms crossed, blocking the doorway, casually watching him, causing the intruder to feel a suffocating sensation.

"You..." The person slowly stood straight, his face covered with a cloth seemingly torn from clothing. Seeing Li Yifei, his eyes widened, instinctively moving backwards, but unfortunately, the bed blocked him.

"What’s wrong, trying to ask who I am?" Li Yifei asked coolly.

"Are you the owner of this car?" The voice rasped.

"I’m not. Is it yours then?" Li Yifei raised a hand, and a dark shadow flew up. The figure instinctively ducked back, but heard no sound; instead, a crunching noise reached him. He turned to see Li Yifei holding an apple, biting off a large chunk, chewing loudly!

The intruder couldn’t help but feel mildly surprised. Anyone finding themselves intruded upon in the middle of the night would be shocked. Yet, not only did the other party anticipate the intrusion, but he waited calmly.

"Why aren’t you afraid of me?" The intruder couldn’t resist asking.

Li Yifei smiled, took another bite of the apple, chewing exuberantly, moved slightly, which made the intruder tense, then said, "I’m quite scared. But you broke my car window and jumped inside in the middle of the night; don’t tell me you’re here to play!"

"Of course, I’m not here to play. I’ve come to borrow your car!" The person rasped.

"Not many people borrow cars like you do, but sadly I’m not easy to talk to. If you’re here to borrow the car, I won’t agree." Li Yifei shook his head, taking another bite of the apple.

"I’ll give you benefits for borrowing it. I urgently need the car now!"

"Trying to make a getaway?" Li Yifei remarked casually.

"Kid, I’m negotiating with you calmly now; don’t push it, or neither the car nor your life will belong to you!" The person threatened.

"So, you’re trying to take me as well?" Li Yifei spat out an apple seed.

The other grinned sinisterly and said, "Kid, stop the nonsense. My patience is limited. You’d better decide quickly whether to lend me the car, or I’ll have to end this violently."

"Looks like you’ve got some nerve!" Li Yifei tossed the apple core to the ground, rolled up his sleeves some more, pointed at the intruder, and cursed, "You old bastard, dare to make a move?"

"Old..." The opponent was taken aback internally, thinking how did he know I’m old? My face is clearly covered...

"You’re severely injured, yet dare to make a move and want to borrow my car. If I don’t help you drive away, how far can you go?" Li Yifei said, spat an apple seed again, and within a short two or three meters, it reached the intruder, hitting his chest spot-on. He cried out in pain, the sound emerging from his throat as he bent down—it struck his wound.

Watching the intruder weaken, Li Yifei chuckled softly and said, "Since you’re here, don’t leave—stay and compensate me for the broken window!"
