Surviving A Novel I Don't Remember: A Tutor's Guide To Staying Alive
Chapter 276: The one who wrote this book was the fallen god
"You did not simply write this world into existence along with them. You lived it. You built the foundations of this reality together, soul by soul, rule by rule. But when the creation became flawed, your partner wanted to erase the mistake. He wanted to delete the script."
Julian’s head began to spin. What was it saying? That he was a creator? He, who was a simple teacher before falling into this world, had been a creator? In this fantasy world?
"I understand that you cannot understand it, but it is the truth, and why the fallen god wants you to be a spectator. Because you had been the one to ruin his plans and reduce him to the status of a fallen god, a demon. He still seeks revenge against you. He wants the world to burn, and you will be there to watch the ambers."
Julian placed his hand on his head. Nothing made sense. None of it. He could believe all sorts of things, but this...? How was he to simply believe it?
The light could hear the doubtful gears turning in his head.
"In a way, you were right that language is the best form of passing information, especially when it is written. Because, at the end of the day, books are circulated more, and it reaches every part of the world in due time."
"What does that have to do with this now?" Julian asked, his voice cracking. "My head is splitting because I do not understand any of this."
"And that is why I have decided to explain it from the point you believe all of this happened." As the Light spoke, a book fell from the infinite whiteness above, dropping onto the table in front of Julian with a dull thud. "Do you recognize this book?"
Julian looked at it, his heart skipping a beat. The cover featured a girl in the arms of a man who looked like a Duke, mirroring the very fantasy world he was currently living in. Melody’s Romance with the Duke. That was the title, and it was one of the books that had been on the desk he had hit his head on back in his old life.
He remembered it vividly. It was the last thing he had seen lying next to his head before the darkness took him. It had fallen from the table to the floor as he died.
But why was the Light showing him this now?
"The one who wrote this book was the fallen god," the Light said.
Julian’s body froze. A cold, numbing dread washed over him. "What?"
That demon... had written a romance novel? How was that even possible?
"Yes, and many other books spread across your world with one purpose. As I said, you were right that language is the best way of passing information. The words written in that book seem like a normal fantasy love story, but they have specific information embedded in them. A lure. It was designed to take you once they find you. Or your soul, to be specific."1
Julian felt the dread swimming in his blood. The books his students carried—the stories they giggled over—were texts written by a fallen god? The logic seemed impossible, yet he couldn’t see why it wasn’t. If he had indeed ruined the fallen god’s plans and demoted him from a creator to a demon, the hatred must run deep.
And that hatred has caused him to search for Julian’s soul for a thousand years... through books. It was crazy. How did he even do it?
The Light read his thoughts and responded before he could speak.
"The moment your blood was spilled, and your soul left your body, instead of going into the normal reincarnation circle, that book acted as a vacuum. Your soul was sucked into this world and conveniently into the body of a man who had just made a deal with him. Julian Von Astrea. While the story from your student itself was fake, the world is real. And that is this world you currently live in."
Julian looked at the book’s cover again. He realized now why the layout of the Duke’s manor in the capital had felt so familiar. The gates, the gardens—it was all there on the cover of a cheap novel.
"And before you ask, I will let you know that the rewards and quests given by the ’system’ were from its creator. It was a means to torture you, as well as get you attached to this world. So that when it is time to burn it down, you will have a lot to lose."
Julian bit the inside of his mouth until he tasted blood. The quests... the mandatory tasks... they were never meant to help him. The system itself had warned him it was cruel, but he had no idea it was this malicious. It was no wonder he had been made to suffer under Aurelian. It was no wonder the system pushed him into dangerous situations regardless of his wishes, dangling rewards like a carrot.
It was all a setup. He clenched his fists so hard his nails dug into his palms. From the start, it was a trap. And he had fallen flat into that trap.
But why? What did he do? He did not know exactly the extent of his crime or if he should feel guilty for having betrayed the fallen god. He needed answers.
"The reason you have these holy powers," the Light spoke, leaving his questions about the betrayal unanswered for now. "Is because you got a hold of part of your past divinity, as well as got connected to mine when my priest healed your leg."
Julian’s mind flashed back to the priest from back then.
"Your faith is so strong that it unlocked the divinity in your soul even after nearly a thousand years of reincarnation circles," the Light explained. "And so, the well began to gather the warmth until you came into contact with my priest once again. That was when the well began to overflow, and you released the divine power in your soul."
Then, that means the reason my soul was so white in front of the mirror was because...
"You are purity itself, Julian," the being whispered, the glowing form leaning closer. "A creator who loves without asking for anything in return. And that is why he hates you so. Because you chose the creation over the creator."
So, in case anyone wants to ask how it is that the book the system gave him was the Chronicles of Astrea instead of Melody’s romance with the Duke, do note that I said the novel plot itself was fake but the world was real. Its the concept right now that in the world, everyone is their own main character and the fallen god put Kim Jowoon in Julian’s body so the story , the Chronicles of Astrea, that the original Julian Von AStrea was supposed to live, Kim Jowoon interrupted it, but it still aided him with his revenge, blah, blah, so I hope you understand it. In this world, everyone has a story an a plot that revolves around them, but it takes one outsider to disrupt that entire plot.
