Surviving in the Beast World with a System
Chapter 302: They’ve All Returned
"Are you saying they want to drive us out of the Polar Forest just to occupy it?"
The Flying Eagle Witch snarled.
The Snow Tiger Witch glanced at the eagle egg not far from him and scoffed, "And you still think they just want to drive us out?"
The Flying Eagle Witch’s gaze followed his, and the muscles in his face tightened instantly. "You’re right. This doesn’t look like they’re just trying to drive us out."
No young had been born in the Flying Eagle Tribe for two years, and now, with what that young female had said today...
’If these insects start afflicting the young Beastman Warriors, we’ll be completely defenseless when the beastmen from outside the Polar Forest attack. They’ll walk all over us.’
"With things as they are, this is bigger than just our two tribes. I’m afraid we’ll have to summon Old Wolf and the Lion Witch."
The Flying Eagle Witch stood up at that. "Let one of my tribesmen go."
The Snow Tiger Witch nodded. "Yes, it’s almost time for them to come for this year’s Crystal Cores, isn’t it? I’ll bring Yue with me and see if a Worm Witch is hiding in their midst."
The Flying Eagle Witch nodded, his eyes turning grim. "Right. And if there is one, they will never leave the Polar Forest again."
"Witch, the witches from the Lion Tribe and Black Wolf Tribe are back again."
The voice of a Half beastman Warrior called from outside the cave, surprising the two men inside.
Two familiar figures immediately walked through the entrance, followed by the Lion Witch’s disgruntled voice, directed at the Half beastman Warrior. "What do you mean, ’back again’? We have something very important to discuss with your witch."
The Snow Tiger Witch couldn’t help but chuckle. "If it’s so important, then what are you waiting for? Get in here."
The two of them looked a bit ragged. They plopped down onto a bed of straw and looked like they had no intention of getting up again.
The Snow Tiger Witch looked at the Black Wolf Witch. "We only went to fetch the Lion Witch. What are you doing back here?"
The Black Wolf Witch was silent.
’So it’s perfectly fine for the three of you to form your own little clique, is that it?’
He shot him a disdainful look. "I was uneasy about the divination, so I performed it again on my way. The result wasn’t good. I figured I should come back and tell you."
The Lion Witch, gnawing on a piece of fruit, nodded in agreement. "It’s not good news."
The Snow Tiger Witch and the Flying Eagle Witch exchanged a glance. "What did you divine?"
The Black Wolf Witch’s expression was grave. "The great rainy season will be here in half a month."
The two witches stiffened. "How can it be that early?"
"No one saw this coming. If Old Wolf hadn’t come to find me, I was planning on sending my Beastman Warriors to hunt Fierce Beasts as soon as I returned."
The Lion Witch heaved a deep sigh and tossed the fruit core at the Snow Tiger Witch’s feet.
The Snow Tiger Witch shot him a look of disgust. "You lions are as charming as ever."
With that, he picked up the core and tossed it into a basket near the cave entrance.
The Lion Witch pursed his lips, then looked at the Flying Eagle Witch. "So, what did you call me back for? You even sent your Clan Leader? That guy, Fei Ying, looked pretty grim."
The Flying Eagle Witch sighed deeply. "He just lost a child."
He then recounted the events of the past few days to them.
The two witches stared at the ugly Poisonous Insect, their expressions turning grim.
"Those damned bastards. They’ll really do anything for Crystal Cores."
For a moment, the Black Wolf Witch felt a strange sense of relief that he hadn’t yet returned to his tribe.
