Chapter 279: Horde (3)

Although they stayed in that area and looked for survivors in order to hear what had happened, they didn’t find any. Even if someone had survived, it was hard to believe that they would stay nearby to tell the tale. So, they began to move again. This time, toward the north. Things were pretty tense among the dark elves since some feared and hated the creature that did that.

During that day and the restart of the journey, Luke had some experiments. The simplest of his spells that he could try to replicate on his own was Stone Cannon, and Luke quickly realized the difference between them. First of all, the real spell had no time for casting, and its speed was top-notch, but the copy was slow to take form, and it wasn’t that fast either. However, after practicing for a full day, Luke began to see some improvements. So, maybe after he reaches a certain level with the power and speed of the copy, the system will recognize the spells. It seemed like it was the best option since the system accepted the basic skills of the creatures that were part of magic worlds.

"You are playing with magic a lot lately," Rina suddenly said.

"We have time since the dark elves aren’t fast enough to keep up with me when it comes to running. We can’t exactly leave them behind, after all," Luke explained. "In any case, I am trying to see if I can learn spells on my own. Speaking of which, how did you learn your main spells, were you born with them?"

"Yes, I inherited them from my parents," Rina replied.

"That is kind of unfair, but then Nambra said that it was possible... What about you guys? You two were also blessed like that?" Luke asked.

Shalia and Nambra nodded. Nambra said before that for some reason, the first skill that everyone obtains is closely related to their talents. Still, Luke wondered how things could be that convenient... Regardless, while they were heading North, Luke and the others found several other groups of dark elves. Some preferred death over joining Luke’s camp, and while Shalia was itching to grant their wish, Luke wasted some extra time to make them change their minds. A few extra punches and lost teeth helped with that. While things were getting quite bloody, it was better than letting Danielle see them being killed. Putting that aside, Luke asked everyone if they had seen some flying fortresses anywhere, but the answer was always no...

After some point, Luke looked at his friends, and they understood the look in his eyes. They might be working here and there, but they weren’t exposing themselves by landing and parking anywhere on that planet. They were in space... It was another reason for Luke to get another red crystal. In any case, as they were heading north, they began to see many hordes of monsters, and it was a clear sign that some Crystals were nearby.

"Split into groups of ten and then go look for the crystals in the area," Luke said. "You need to keep your Fangs sharp, and this is a good opportunity. However, come to me if you find the crystal. Don’t attack hundreds of monsters with only those numbers."

It was the perfect moment to test if their obedience was that good. Still, while they nodded without making much of a fuss, the dark elves began to fight among themselves since some wanted to follow the same direction. When he tried to scold those dumbasses, Shalia stopped them.

"Leave them be, they are a rough bunch, but they won’t kill each other over something like that," Shalia said.

That didn’t seem like a good enough explanation, but Luke decided to just nod. Besides, he would need time to focus now, and he couldn’t if he had to stop fights every minute. In any case, instead of just practicing his Earth Manipulation directly, Luke began to meditate. At the same time, he recalled the feeling that he had while he was trying to improve the speed and power of his Earth Arrow. The shape was perfect. After doing that hundreds of times, he already could pull that off perfectly. The real problem was the time to fire the arrow... The speed wasn’t enough. When Luke asked one of the dark elves that had the same value in magic to show it, Luke confirmed that his speed was lacking.

"There must be something behind this... some kind of trick," Luke thought while rubbing his chin.

It wasn’t spinning... The arrows didn’t spin when they were shot. Luke thought about that for quite a while, but he didn’t get the answer he wanted... In the end, he also couldn’t sharpen that feeling when he meditates and imagines the spell improving. So, it was something else...

After a lot of thinking, Luke had an idea... Instead of making the projectile fly once it was finished, he would put some extra mana on the back of the arrow while it was being created. Naturally, he didn’t get it right on the first try, but he began to see some improvement after some attempts. It was basically the same feeling he had when he used Spark Ball. Most of the energy would be at the center since it was a sphere, but then the bolts would spread and hit many more enemies. The energy in the center exploded and caused that, and then the spell dissipated. It didn’t take long for him to get a pleasant surprise.

You have learned the skill Earth Arrow.

You obtained 05 status points.

Not only did Luke learn, but he also obtained some status points since he didn’t use the shop. It took five days to learn a single spell and a very simple one, but at least Luke knew that it was possible. Without wasting any more time, Luke began to train the spell, and quickly, it reached level five.
