Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 329: Restart (8)
While Luke looking was messing around with the magic ores, trying to find the best way to use them, he made the flying fortress fly over the world as he looked for other overlords. Weirdly enough, he didn’t find any in Africa and Europe, but he found signs of some massive battles on both continents. Some things were happening around the Earth that he wasn’t aware of, which could lead to some problems later.
"At this point in time, I thought that Frank would find me pretty easily..." Luke thought. "Considering that I didn’t find the other fortress, it is likely that he destroyed it and yet... Is he looking for me in other worlds?"
Those signs of battles were probably places where Frank and his men had fought overlords. While he wasn’t the best person out there, he truly wanted to save Earth. Luke checked the areas for a while longer where he found those traces and he found some traces of ice magic... large scale ice magic. He probably had to prepare for that, but there was a chance that it was caused by his followers. Luke didn’t want to kill more humans than he has to, but... it might be necessary.
"Hmm... there are too many crystals in Egypt," Luke thought while he was passive above that area. "I suppose just leaving some skeletons won’t be enough."
Luke still had to check Asia and Oceania. Still, he couldn’t ignore an excellent chance to increase his army and get some extra gold coins... even though he had fifteen million again. In any case, Luke went down and fought with his skeletons, but after some point, he just ran around summoning more by getting close to the corpses. In the end, Luke spent two days doing that and thanks to it, he increased his army to twenty thousand and the skills leveled up two times...
"Now my fortress looks like the final dungeon of an RPG..." Luke said while looking around and seeing so many skeletons. "Maybe I should paint the armor with black instead of letting it be green..."
Speaking of the armor, Luke managed to find the right temperature with magic to smelt the ores. Since he didn’t have the tools or the skills, he had to do everything with magic. Still, it seemed that things would go well. He turned the ores into some thick plates, and slowly he was connecting them together while it was taking the shape of an armor. It would end up being pretty heavy, but it would offer a lot of defensive power.
After finishing things in that part of the world, Luke headed East to search for overlords there. At the same time, he looked for skills in the shop that would increase the power of his skeletons. Still, he didn’t find any... undead never got along well with support and healing magic, after all.
"I guess increasing the rank of the skill is the only option now..." Luke thought.
Luke found many types of skills in the shop. He had tons of gold coins to use, after all. Invisibility, Heat Vision, Shamanism, Song magic... They all sounded useful, but Luke was looking for something even more powerful. With fifty million gold coins, he will be able to buy tier 20 skill books, so he decided to Save them until there. Since, with each tier, things were improving more and more, Luke assumed that things would get really interesting.
Regardless, Luke searched for overlords in Oceania, but he didn’t find any there. He found traces of some flying fortresses and another massive battle but no signs of any survivors...
"I guess we in Australia, overlords, don’t hunt them. They hunt overlords..." Luke said. "Putting that aside, if Frank had been here, he tricked people into joining his rank after he helped them. That seemed like the type of thing he would do. Still, now that I think about it, I wonder why he never tried to trick me... Was it because Rina and Shalia would notice it? He had the time and the chance to trick my parents as well, but he never did it..."
While Luke was thinking about that, he reached the east coast of Korea and then he noticed that something was there. It was faint and very far away, but he could sense some presence. He also could sense some vibrations in the air...
"I guess it is a battle..." Luke thought.
Luke didn’t know if his presence had been noticed. He had been moving around without trying to conceal himself so only the most foolish enemies wouldn’t notice him. Still, he decided to leave his fortress hidden in the ocean while the Mana Shield was activated. After that, he headed West to confirm what was going on.
Eventually, Luke found traces of battles, but it wasn’t in a single place. The corpses left a trail that had headed to the West. It seemed one of the sides was trying to move away while the other was chasing them. That seemed weird, the number of monsters was high, so it was clearly a battle between overlords. If one of them wanted to leave, they could do so without wasting time like that. The fact that Luke could move and approach them just by running was also weird...
"Is this a trap?" Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
Even if it was, Luke could escape to dozen of kilometers away by using Checkpoint, so that didn’t make any sense... Regardless, he had to free his home planet from the clutches of overlords before he could head to others, so he couldn’t stop now.
Luke didn’t stop and kept following the trails left behind. At first, he only found corpses of lizardmen. They used some pieces of armor, and they also had spears, so it was clear that they were a bit smart, but their leader was even smarter... In any case, after a while, Luke also found bodies of humans along the way...
