Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 346: Revenge (3)
After Helrom became Luke’s follower, things really began to proceed smoothly. On the first day, five thousand more demi-humans became Luke’s followers, and then Luke made them head to the other battlefields with his skeletons. Things suddenly began to move a lot faster, but they still had to consider the distance they had to cross between battlefields. Still, at that rate, it was clear that it would take less than one week for the giants to be defeated. So, instead of going around and raising more skeletons, Luke headed to his fortress and watched the areas of that continent from above. He decided to consider what might happen next in order to avoid problems. He couldn’t let things low down now after he had come this far... he had to sped things up since he wasn’t patient.
"Now is the time for the overlord to attack..." Luke thought. "I will have to wait for them here to prevent losses."
It seemed that another test of patience was going to start, but at least Luke will have something to keep his mind busy, and that would be to make mana crystals. Without moving, Rest will do its magic. His followers and skeletons will give him even more mana, so he will be able to make a decent stock.
"With the power of the storage dimension now, I should be able to catch up with Aivern if I play my hand well," Luke thought while rubbing his chin. "He may have the knowledge of many lifetimes and the experience as well, but as long as I come up with an unorthodox strategy, I should be able to defeat him."
While he was working, Luke began to think about that. It was obvious that Aivern was a mage, perhaps he had some physical skills, but they couldn’t be anything special. Maybe that was what he should focus on...
"I can’t use stamina on that space, so that makes things difficult," Luke thought. "Aside from that, the only thing I can think of is to train one buff like there is no tomorrow. One buff that is leagues above the others."
There was a chance that Aivern was watching Luke, so he would need to obtain a power that the system couldn’t track or at least wasn’t registered in its database. It would be hard to obtain it, but he didn’t have any other choice. Besides, he had noticed that such a thing was possible, he noticed that Rina and Shalia’s abilities were improving a lot more just right before Aivern did what he did, and Luke didn’t see any chances with their parameters or skills. If only he had asked them about it... Unfortunately, at that time, Luke still was fighting with his lack of confidence, so he avoided the subject since it would only make him feel worse.
"So pathetic... I really am a sorry excuse of a man," Luke said and then sighed.
Luke felt that he could improve himself as long as he recognized that fact. There was no use denying that since his family and friends were taken away from him, and he couldn’t do a single thing.
Regardless, Luke stopped thinking about that and then began to think about his secret weapon that he truly needed to defeat Aivern. There was no point in looking for the system for clues, so he could only rely on his brain with that problem. Reinforcing his body with mana was the most obvious answer. He also could use the mana crystals after stocking who knows how many of them for the last fight. Still, that would be too simple...
After some time, Luke had a certain idea, but for that to work, he would have to keep leveling up space magic. He also would need a new skill. No... Perhaps projection could help him with that. So, in the end, he had to keep leveling up both skills. Luke headed to that dimension to training both skills to make sure that his plan had some chance of working. Once their ranks increase, he will be able to make some tests since the upgrade usually makes most skills at least two times better. It didn’t take long for him to achieve that, so Luke upgraded his skills and then put his plans into action...
When Luke returned to reality, he was mentally exhausted. He didn’t know for how long he stayed in his dimension, but he knew that it hadn’t been just a few days. He began to experiment with his skills and lost the notion of time. Even though he failed many times, he kept going because he had fun. That was something that he didn’t feel in quite a while... Regardless, Luke was planning to rest for a bit before resuming his training. However, he saw a massive object flying over the continent. It clearly was the overlord of that world...
"Just when I finally reached the good party..." Luke said and then sighed. "Well, it doesn’t matter. Let’s finish this quickly."
Luke made his fortress move toward the enemy. He was certain that he wasn’t exactly hidden, so he wondered why the enemy decided to show themselves only now. Luke assumed that it was because they weren’t around in the last few days and didn’t notice what Luke did. That kind of enemy... Was truly stupid. Or someone who had a lot of confidence in their skills.
When Luke approached the fortress, he did it just in time to see a red giant jumping from it and heading to the battlefield below them. The guy was completely oblivious of Luke’s approach.... he truly was a careless giant. However, even though he wasn’t using any skill, the enemy was emitting a weird aura that eventually created small lightning bolts around him. Luke wondered if that guy had watched too many shounen and decided to copy that kind of skill. Still, there was no time for that. Luke’s followers were down there.
