Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 345: Revenge (2)
As soon as they made the oath, the demi-humans felt the power surging through their bodies. The overlord’s skills were working, and they had become quite powerful lately to the point that they were almost ready to reach the next rank. In any case, Luke didn’t make his new followers fight their own people. Instead of that, he split them and made them lead groups of fifty skeletons to fight the giants. It was a pretty large number, but it was to make sure that they won’t die anytime soon.

A lot of Luke’s skills were about to reach the next rank, so he decided to train for a while in his storage dimension. It would be a pit if they received a lot of experience, but they only level up once because of the limit of their current rank. Unfortunately, skills like Vampirism needed a target to work... Luke wondered if he should forcefully move a monster to that space, but it had to be a small one in order to level up Vampirism. Also, Vampirism only worked when he was wounded. It would be nice if he could learn over health or something, but Luke never found it.
Regardless, Luke went to his dimension and then began to train his buffs. Considering that the man he had available, he could only train two at a time... So, his time there would be three times longer than he had expected. With the help of Rest, it would decrease to two times, but that was still a hassle. A necessary one, though.
In the end, Luke had to stay there for around twenty hours to make those six skills level up once. It was truly a test of his patience... Fortunately, he didn’t feel any hunger there, so it was a bit less annoying.
When the battle ended, Luke realized that he had killed around eight thousand demi-humans, eighty percent of the troops there. On the other hand, only two thousand giants were killed. Those guys didn’t even think of bending the knee. Most likely, they were clones made by the crystal.
"Do any of you have a map?" Luke asked when he was checking the camp and looking for his loot. "I want to know where the other battles are taking place. My goal here is to defeat the overlords trying to invade this world, once I am done with them, this place will return to your hands."
Although they swore loyalty to him, it was clear as the day that his followers were quite dubious of his words. Still, one of them pointed to a tent where Luke found a giant map of the continent. Somehow, dozens of points were marked there, showing the location of several battlefields. It would take quite a while for Luke to reach all of those places, so he will have to optimize his strategy and the routes he will take.
"You guys will be split in groups of one thousand and you will have the help of fiteeen thousand skeletons in each group," Luke declared. "You will walk and attack the enemies of the nearest battlefields in this order and then wait for my next orders once you finish the job. The skeletons will have the orders to attack only the giants, but they also have the orders to retaliate if your allies attack them. So, do your best to avoid that."
Luke will have to wait for a while there since he had to summon more skeletons. That would slow him down at first for sure, but then it will increase his speed in the long run since it would make Necromancy level up. Besides, ten skeletons were enough to face the giant as of now. One death knight could deal with them as well, but their numbers were limited.
"The real question is: will the overlord wait for that to happen?" Luke asked. "Watching his troops be massacred would he pretty stupid. Attacking the skeletons or me without knowing what I could do was also pretty stupid."
Either way, Luke would have the advantage. Still, he wanted to defeat the overlord in one week. If that weren’t to happen, then he would have to take some drastic measures.
"I should better prepare for that, just in case..." Luke thought while he watched his two armies moving away.
When Luke found the bodies of the giants, he confirmed that they could become death knights, and since their bodies were pretty big, they also could become skeleton riders. Luke hadn’t used the riders much, but when he needed mobility and the power to defeat many armies without faltering, they were the help that he needed, so he began to summon them...
Once Luke finished his work of summoning new skeletons, all his overlord skills had leveled up. His new followers were already fighting, even though only ten hours had passed since the previous battle. Luke wondered if the surge of power gained by his overlords’ skills made them feel high or something. Or perhaps that was a savage nature that they had since they had animal-like characteristics, physical and mental. Luke found a human-like bear sleeping like a cat near the tents before he sends them to work, after all.
Once Luke finished them, he headed toward the next battlefield. His first army had already left for the next battlefield when he arrived there. Still, he had already noticed that because he stopped gaining experience and gold coins. He found some corpses of his followers and skeletons as well. It seemed that with the help of his army, the demi-humans of that area had won the battle after only losing ten percent of their troops, but they stayed behind.
"It seems that you guys have heard of what I did, are you here to avenge those I killed before?" Luke asked.
"You killed thousands of us, and made others submit, what are you going to do if we refuse to become your minions?" A wolfman stepped forward and asked.
"I will advise in not getting on my way, unless you want to die," Luke replied. "I will ignore you all as long as you don’t get on my way. However, if a single one of you attacks me, then I will kill you all."
Luke moved to the battlefield and began to summon skeletons. Meanwhile, the demi-humans watched him, wondering what he was planning. It seemed too good to be true to suddenly receive a visitor that wanted to get rid of their enemies without asking anything in exchange.
The reason why the demi-humans acted that way was that they were tricked by some overlord a while ago. They were tricked and lost some magical resources when they were waiting to be helped by that one. Despite that, Luke completely ignored them for several hours, and when he finished creating the skeletons, he truly left.
Although Luke could make more skeletons by relying on the mana the ones that were fighting were getting for him, he couldn’t when it comes to the riders. When he tried, he ended up making the work slower. It was a pity, but he will have to make it do with the knights, archers, and wizards.
Regardless, after cleaning three other battlefields, Luke found his followers waiting for him. They had lost around three hundred of their members, but despite that, they looked quite cheerful. Probably because they haven’t won so many battles in a row in a while. They were exhausted, so Luke gave them the order to rest for two days while he met the other group. In no time, Luke had an army of 150 thousand skeletons since he also used the ordinary monsters that he found along the way.
Four days passed since Luke arrived in that world, and he only dealt with one-third of the battlefields. So, his plan of finishing things in one week won’t work, no matter what he thinks or try to improve his plans. Still, it seemed that things would improve a bit. While Luke was preparing to move, some demi-humans approached him. He didn’t tell his followers to propagate the benefits of his overlord skills, but it seemed that some of them did that. Or perhaps they were just plain stupid since the wolfman was the one leading them.
"Do you have a moment?" The wolfman asked.
"Not a long moment, I need to depart as soon as possible," Luke replied.
"Since that is the case, I will cut to the chase," the wolfman said. "We heard that you will leave as soon as you defeat the other overlord. Why? what is your real goal?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Luke wondered if he should just make some bullshit story that would convince them to become his followers. However, he hated liars, and after what Aivern did, he hated people hiding the truth for their own convenience even more. So, he decided to tell the truth. It didn’t matter if that would make them help him or not.
"My goal is power, absolute power," Luke replied. "I will kill all the assholes in the universe to obtain the power that I need to encounter the biggest asshole that I found until now. Once I obtain that power, I will make sure to make that piece of shit suffer as much as possible, to the point that he will beg to die and I won’t grant him that wish."
Luke’s vision became dark for a moment, and the demi-humans around him clearly saw his power manifesting around him like an aura almost able to distort space. A dark and red aura that symbolized Luke’s hatred.
"Well, that is it... I won’t take your friends with me to that battle, I am only making them fight to make things work faster for me," Luke added.
"Will you free them from your control once you leave?" The wolfman asked.
"No, I won’t come to this world again and in order to make sure that no problems will happen due to that, they will have the power to fight back," Luke replied. "As long as they fight the possible enemies, things will help me somehow."
"I see... we agree to help you... only if you promise not to force kids and those who can’t fight to become your followers," The wolfman said. "If you promise me that you will do that, I can convince one fourth of our population to help you with this."
"All right, done," Luke said. "You have my word, what is your name?"
"Helrom..." The wolfman replied.
"Very well, Helrom," Luke said. "From now on, you will be the representative of your people. Your job will be to eliminate all the threats of this world while you protect your people."
