Chapter 367: Tests (4)

Suddenly, a massive lightning bolt flew toward the female magician from the fish’s mouth. She didn’t have time to dodge since it was lightning, but her mana shield resisted for a while. She tried to use that chance to run away, but in the end, her mana ended before she could accomplish that. The battle ended...

Luke sighed, he had planned to use her to test the limits of Essence Sword in his dimension alongside how long she could survive being wounded like that, but perhaps that was for the best. Luke didn’t want to play the butcher, and she was a mage. Perhaps she would be able to learn the secrets of his power.

In the end, a crystal appeared on the road a few hundred meters away, but before going there, Luke decided to check if that woman had left something behind. Much to Luke’s surprise, he found two items near the remains of her body. It was surprising that they didn’t melt and were floating on the ocean. One of them was a ring, and the other was a skill book.

Heart of Terenis

A ring that only those who received the Blessing of Terenis can use. It gives you access to all the mana Terenis can use.

Transmutation

It grants you the power to transform all the properties of an object at your will. The level of the skill determines how much you can transform something and how much mana you will need to do so.

Transmutation certainly wasn’t a skill that the woman used, so it was a drop in the system. After everything he had learned, Luke hesitated in getting that, but he needed more power. He was able to outsmart some opponents that had crazy powers until now, but for how long?

"Anyway, who is Terenis? Some kind of mosnter that swore to give her all his mana? That is convenient..." Luke thought.

Luke couldn’t use the ring, and it was a pity, but at least he learned half of something important. He didn’t know how yet, but he probably could obtain access to others mana pools. It was like Magic Link, but at the same time, it wasn’t. Perhaps it would be better to convince or force some overlords to do the same instead of killing them. Naturally, suppose Luke feels that the battles are getting too tough. In that case, he still has his last option: which was to use his enemies to obtain status alongside the Essence Sword.

Before touching the crystal, Luke decided to do some tests with Transmutation. So, he went to his dimension. Since the crystal appeared as soon as he had eliminated that woman, Luke assumed that he was alone there. For whatever reason, the key to reaching the next level was to kill another overlord. Luke didn’t know if it was an automatic process or if he was being watched, but it didn’t matter now that he used Space magic two times there.

In any case, Luke decided to check if Transmutation worked with Projection, and while it worked, it didn’t negate the original effects of Projection, so the item would disappear after a while. On the other hand, Luke managed to transform items from the shop to another type while they maintained their original effects and skills. Luke found it quite interesting when he transformed a certain sword into a ring. Since the materials decreased, the effects increased to compensate for that.

Bloodthirsty Blade

Restores 10 points of health when attacking an enemy.

STR: +30

Durability: 100/100

Bloodthirsty Ring

Restores 30 points of health when attacking an enemy.

STR: +60

That sword cost one million gold coins, but Luke bought ten of those and turned them into rings. He wondered if he could combine all of them again and turn it into an even more powerful sword and create one crazy loop, but the skill failed. The level of the skill was too low, apparently, since not even the mana was used.

"Can I transmute some parts of my body?" Luke wondered. "It might be useful to turn my skin at will into something harder."

Luke tried that, but it didn’t work for whatever reason. Still, he managed to transmute some parts of that fish, so it wasn’t an issue of being organic matter. In any case, that still had a lot of potential.

After playing with it for a while, Luke managed to make some high concentrated potions. While the rings that he got were quite something, he wanted some more insurance. So, he made the high concentrated versions of stamina and health potions as well. Since decreasing the size of things turned into more efficient things, Luke also got some of that shitty ocean. He could use some poison-type spells, but they couldn’t be compared.

Luke stopped using the skill when it reached the next rank, but then he made his clone use it. The sooner that skill loses its limitation, the better, after all. Once that was done, Luke returned to reality, and then he touched the crystal. Most of his preparations had been finished, his guard was up, and he had rested. So, it was time to reach the next stage.

Once Luke touched the crystal, he was teleported to the middle of a world in flames. It resembled quite a bit the burned part of that world where he met the fire and ice giant. However, the atmosphere was even more dense there, and the smell of death was enough to make him dizzy. Even before he could do anything, Luke felt the hair on his back standing, and in the next second, a powerful lightning bolt fell from the sky and hit the place he had been. That was one hell of a welcome, but Luke bugged his speed and dodged.
